Frustrated at the wait to check in, no one showed us where to go. Disappointed to be told my 1st & 2nd choices were not available. No fillet or rib eye steaks - they offered me a rump steak, which was not on the menu at all , with all the trimmings from a roast at the price of the roast. I had that but the steak was not tender and quite dry. We can expect roasts to have finished by early Sunday evening but not steaks and other dishes as well. We were not asked how the food was, so no suitable opportunity to let them know. The waitress asked if we wanted any sauces when she brought the food, my husband asked for vinegar but it was never brought to him. The water dispenser by the dog bowls was empty, lucky we took our own. It has been refurbished nicely and very pleased they now allow dogs in some areas of the restaurant but the food has not improved and the service was very poor. The area we sat with our dog was not a full table service as we had to order food and drinks at the bar ourselves.
After not using this pub for 2 years due to very bad service we decided to give it a go as it now as new management, it is a nice pub but lacks atmosphere especially late in the evening probably due to it closing at 11pm, the food was ok but over priced especially the starters.
Really poor service. The staff couldn’t handle our table of 6 and kept getting our orders wrong and also it was all very slow. They kept forgetting to bring things out so we kept going looking for a waiter so request for them to bring the missing dishes/drinks.
Food was average, if that.
Good atmosphere and with better staff it would have been a much better experience.
We booked for a Mother’s Day set menu, were told there wasn’t no broccoli or cauliflower cheese left and it was only 3pm, yet we overheard the waitress tell another table that they were cooking a new batch. The main (roast) was tasteless and the meat very fatty, veg was rock hard too
The restaurant wasn’t open was under refurbishment even though the booking was confirmed !!!!!
Have been eating here for around 12 years, twice a year before going to the theatre. Never had a bad meal. This time traffic was horrendous and we were very late and time restricted before curtain up. Service was second to none, waitress very attentive and food as good as ever.
We enjoyed our dinner very much - particularly as there is just very quiet background music, so nice to have peace and quiet whilst we were dining. We could chat comfortably without being drowned out by loud music, as seems to be popular in most restaurants/pubs these days. Very pleasant atmosphere, nice decor and lighting, tables placed a fair distance apart. A really good place for a mid-week dinner treat without feeling rushed, crushed or deafened!!
Service was good , The food was Amazing, plenty of it, definitely will come back for Sunday roast
Great spot for Sunday Roast
Staff very friendly and did not rush us lovely relaxed atmosphere arrived at 1.00pm and left at 7.00pm. Group of 8 and every one enjoyed their meal, very reasonable prices. One of the party was dairy free and they adjusted his meal to suit his needs. It is very local to me, and my husband and I are frequent visitors so had no hesitation suggesting it to our friends.
Been there loads of times and always pleased with food and service but on this occasion the service wasn't good at all and it wasn't even as busy as it has been on previous occasions. The barman wasn't helpful at all and would clearly have been somewhere else that night. Shame because as I say I have been there countless times and always been satisfied.
Have been before and enjoyed it. This time was not happy with the food or service. Had fish and risotto, risotto was watery and very strong taste of cheese. Couldn't eat it. Fish was nice. One of us had fish and chips which was nice. Waitress very friendly but brought the wrong order for one of us, and it took 3 attempts to get a coke refill. Was disappointed, usually very good.
