globally from your seat at the bar.

For us, a very convenient location. Warm greeting on arrival. Not the best table in the place, but being fully booked, we understand that someone has to draw the short straw.
Reasonable choice from the menu, although as a Coeliac the options were limited.
Entrée's varied immensely in portion size, my wife had a pasta dish, which was too large for her to finish and I had a fish dish which was barely there. We both decided on steaks for main and both were cooked as we had asked. In fact, the main course was excellent and changed my mood from the disappointment of the entrée.
A glass of wine each completed our meal.
In summary, entree's too expensive given the portion size.
Main course, excellent.
Wine, even though we chose the cheapest by the glass option, it was a bit too costly given it was from a local winery and probably close to double the price it could/should have been.
Overall, mixed feelings, but the main course and service ensure a positive review.
Wonderful food, staff were great fun and the wines superb.
The Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection. Every time we dine here we always leave extremely happy. The staff are brilliant also.
We always love coming to Thousand Pound for a wonderful evening!
The food is incredible, the staff are always happy to suggest the perfect wine pairing for your food, if like me you are a little unsure.
Thousand Pound is the perfect accompaniment to your celebration!
Great food and wine but sorry to say the service was really inattentive. We just weren’t offered enough drinks and then at the end rather than ask if we would like anything else/more drinks (which we did) the waiter just came up and put the bill on the table and said ‘Just when you’re ready’. We would like to come back but would hope the service improves
Food was fabulous, great atmosphere- we went as a couple but it would be a fantastic place to go with a small group and enjoy a few drinks also
We dined at Thousand pound on Saturday evening. We were taken through to our table right on our booking time. The food was tasty and fresh, we both enjoyed our meals. Our biggest complaint would probably be the wine. We ordered a bottle of Shiraz to start (Shiraz being a pretty safe bet usually) the Shiraz was overly sweet and sultana like, we opted rather than finishing the bottle of a wine we didn’t enjoy to order a second bottle of a different Shiraz. The second bottle was marginally better however not really enjoyable considering it is a wine bar. I’m not sure if it’s a vineyard issue or the limited wine selection of the restaurant, but being lovers of wine, it did affect the enjoyment of the evening. I will give a cudos to our waiter though (a male waiter but didn’t get the name) he was very accommodating and Clearly felt bad for our wine plight and brought us both a complimentary glass of sparkling Shiraz which was lovely of him and a much more enjoyable wine.
Great food, great service, just didn’t love the wine.
Beautiful seasonal food, and great local wine pairing advice to match our tastes!
All in all not bad, but not worth what you pay for it.
Food was ok, but nothing to write home about. Steak was cooked well but had gone cold. Chips were undercooked. Parfait was meh.
Not great selection either. Basically just steak and cold desserts (I feel in winter there should be at least one warm dessert).
Wine was truely excellent though.
Dinner was perfect can’t wait to go back wine is also on point
Thousand Pound is my husband & I regular eating spot, and it Never disappoints
Beautiful food, fine wine, great service and perfect venue.
Fantastic night with my lady for her birthday weekend away.
Food was delicious and service was great.
Definitely will be going back next visit to Rutherglen
Sophisticated restaurant serving excellent steak, great wine list. Will ge back
Thoroughly enjoyed your venue and was exactly as I expected. Perfect wine bar experience with great wines and food.
New front of house guy was very engaging. Noise level in the narrow side area is quite high making it hard to hear. Food was great as always and like the menu changes regularly as we visit regularly!
The quality of food was very good, however the menu is very limited - both food wise and wines by the glass. For a wine bar in a wine region with, by its own advertising over 140 wines available, there was a selection of maybe 5 red/5 white by the glass and only one or 2 of these from local wineries. I've since found out this restaurant is actually owned by one of the wineries so perhaps that is why they are peddling their own wines by the glass. Of the limited food menu - we were disappointed to find they were out of one of the steak cuts that they were recommended for (at a 7.30pm sitting) and our food took over an hour to come out. Would I go back? Probably not.
Food was fantastic. Service was a tad relaxed but overall good. Atmosphere was nice, just a bit on the noisy side.
The food was fantastic and the service was great. The only thing negative that I would say is that all the tables were high with high stools to sit at and they became uncomfortable after awhile. Still think it was 5 star but I'm glad I was fit enough to sit on them
Excellent venue, service and drinks menu. Our only compliant the fish was overcooked. We did complain - but nothing was resolved.
Excellent food and service, looking forward to our next night out at Thousand Pound.
BEST steak I have had in years. Everyone enjoyed their meals and entrees. We played lucky dip with Red wine selection and it was fantastic. Will definitely go back.
This restaurant has declined I’m afraid. Just loved it 6 months ago and took friends back on Saturday night and was very disappointed. Entree choice limited, when having a steak for main, I dont want meat for entree. Between us we ordered the 2 seafood entrees, scallops while delicious was very small quantity. Prawns were tiny still with shells, that you eat whole. Should of been told this when ordering. Steaks were delicious last time this time very ordinary. Chewy and very undercooked. I was offered a $6 glass of wine as compensation for my $40 steak I couldn’t eat. Hmmmm!!! Wine selection still excellent though.
The best steak of any restaurant I've tried. I plan weekend trips away to Rutherglen, specifically to go to this restaurant. This time I went with three other friends who had not been before. They all loved it as well.
My only suggestion for improvement is that all the tables are high so the only seating is bar stools. These can be quite uncomfortable for some people.
We luv this place. Great service great food with a real nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere and delicious food!! Definitely would recommend it!!
I found that the wait staff were extremely rude and not at all accommodating. Jason (our waiter) belittled me in front of our friends when I asked if he would get my son a drink by saying that he was busy and he would get to me when he could. I realise that staff are often busy, however, he said this in loud aggressive voice and I felt that he could have handled it more professionally.
Whilst the environment was quite funky, the music was so loud that we could not hear ourselves talk amongst our friends.
We are overseas tourist and visiting friends local to this area and had heard so much about this restaurant. Our friends were very excited to be taking us there, but the overall experience was very disappointing and I would never recommend this to fellow travellers.
Absolutely THE place to go in Rutherglen - food, wines and service were fantastic and couldn't be faulted. Only suggestion is that someone respond to the answerphone queries about bookings before Friday or ask Open Table to qualify why bookings can't be made for more than 10 people.
We had a good meal at Thousand Pound when we were in Rutherglen for the night but the menu was quite restricted - very steak oriented for main course and not much else. We had some entrees which were excellent, especially the Asian style squid salad - absolutely delicious! Why not have more of this kind of dishes as mains? The restaurant’s main room was very nicely designed and we would have loved to be seated there, but the noise was too much - We don’t understand why very loud disco music was played? Great for dancing but not if you want to have a nice dinner! Anyway, so sorry got not ratimg this place higher, I am sure they could do it.
Highly recommend this restaurant, lovely vibe. The food was wonderful, the staff excellent and pleasantly attentive. Already know what I would like to order next time we visit, fingers crossed it will still be on the menu.
Fabulous night with friends. Suggest a different tonic water than Schweppes. Variety is good. It was especially noisy .
Amazing steaks... nice to see that they understand meat and treat it well.
Gorgeous flavours overall.
I had the best steak ever and a delicious wine. The menu is modest but all good quality.
Service on Sat 16th was terrible.
After waiting for drink table service for 20minutes after being seated my husband went to bar himself to order drinks, girl behind bar quite rude about placing order at bar.
Throughout the evening he had to return 3 times for further drinks! Table service was horrendous, not overly busy either.
Our bill was $151, top price for crap service.
Will not return here.
The food is outstanding here. The ambience makes you excited to be there and that you have made the best choice for your night out. The staff are helpful, vibrant and professional. The decor is so cool. Even the amenities are lovely. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed some lovely Rose wines with a selection of beginners for a meal. Well priced, very enjoyable food and atmosphere will definitely return
Too noisy to communicate properly ! ....& only 4 of us! Food was delicious though.
We enjoyed our evening food and service great
Wine i think a tad expensive in my view
But atmosphere was great indeed
Had a fantastic evening at Thousand Pound.
Fantastic service from Alex & the staff, brilliant steak & very tasty sparkling red!
Superb food, wine and service in groovy rather than rich upper class surroundings.
