We say drink like you eat, classics with a twist is what we do. Fundamental cocktails have been remixed to include Middle Eastern spices, blossoms and liquors, reinvented and enlightening. The wines are natural, smashable "drink now” styles and are heavily featured alongside Australian and international principal producers and regions all of which are heavily focused on terroir and drinkability. All served with a loud helping of the best of old school OG Hip Hop.
Whether booking for a large group or something more intimate, we can always cater for any occasion
Came in for bottomless brunch...birthday gathering for myself and my housemates. It was awesome. Food was amazing, came in a very timely fashion, drinks were delicious and the staff (especially one boy working the bar for two levels like a champion) took every opportunity to accomdate our needs. Having worked as a manager at a venue where we also do a bottomless brunch, it was nice to be on the other side for once! And for that reason, just really appreciate how great everything was despite how busy you were with that large function upstairs and so much going on. Only comment would be, bottomless cocktails are amazing but maybe that bar tender could have done with a little more support smashing out some drinks. No disrespect though, the team did an awesome job. One of my fav local spot so we will be back many more times
As usual, the music was way too loud and I did wish the servings were a little bigger for the prices. But as always, the service was excellent and the food always interesting and delicious. Of course we’ll be back!
Strong pluses and strong minuses on our visit. Great interior, tables a little too tightly packed for me. Music was great but a bit too loud to chat in a group (we were 4). Food was genuinely delicious so I would definitely go back but a small downer was that some of the chicken was undercooked. I’m sure this was just a one off and because they were super busy but a real kitchen 101 nonetheless. Like I said though, I’d still definitely recommend based on the flavours alone.
The positives - the food was amazing - the range, flavours, reasonable serving sizes - and that's what you are there for right? The staff were helpful, inviting and friendly. The downside- it was very busy and noisy (even on a Wednesday night) and our table was near the front door....frequent comings and goings passed our table. Service was very good in bouts but strained at other times because they were so busy - had to wait longer than expected. The negatives won't prevent me from returning.
Love love loved it. Would have been 5 stars overall but I think we got some dodgy prawns (or something). Both my friend and I felt a bit sick later that night.
Will defs come back though.
Cocktails were very yummy.
Thanks so much!
The music was crazy loud. And our table had to shout to each other.
Other than that, Thievery is great.
Music was way too loud. Apparently they were understaffed due to two people calling in sick so the service was very slow. Food was great! If choosing the feast, go in even numbers, because the dishes serve two and they round down on servings for odd numbers.
Great high table outside on their beautiful terrace for my daughters birthday brunch.
Loved the Tahini pancake, and scrambled eggs with a pesto type sauce and sourdough.
Staff were lovely and great coffee.
Poor service. Food didn't come out together. Meat was overcooked and chewy. Would not recommend.
Food as always was excellent.
However, I received my gin & tonic, with no tonic (there was a fair bit of confusion when I tried to get this rectified), They forgot half our chicken, and then asked if we wanted more bread (which we said yes) but it never came.
The staff and the patrons seemed to have trouble hearing/talking -the music was SO loud we had to keep shouting to each other. All for loud music in bars & clubs, but this was pretty ridiculous - esp. for a restaurant. Of course I will always be back, as hopefully this visit was an anomaly.
Food was AMAZING the best brunch banquet I’ve had in Sydney. The service was a little off, not good communication between the staff members. We asked what drinks were involved in the brunch and they said just one cocktail which none of us liked. We then asked if we could have something else and the other waitress said of course you can have bubbles, which is what we wanted to start with. We had to ask to be topped up sometimes. Other than that was great and food was perfect, service could have been a tad better!
Great food, awesome service and a funky ambiance. My kind of place!
The food was okay although the haloumi and potato on the breakfast dish my friend and I had was barely warm and quite unpleasant. The service unfortunately was terrible. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant but at no stage did anyone help us with us without us having to go and ask. If the service had been even remotely passable I would have gone back to give the food another go as some of friends dishes looked good but as it is, wouldn’t bother.
Really lovely food. Nice team of people and cool vibe. Defo be back
I had been to Thievery some year or so , and loved it , and recommended to other people , so when we had friends down from Queensland , I booked a table for 6 , what a disaster!
We ordered the feast. so they could try 9 dishes. s for the “ feast it was more like left overs , with only3 of the 9 dishes , being up to scratch. The humous was great, but when the bread was dumped on the table in a plastic bag , it was not good. Even a cheaper Lebanese restaurant puts it on a platter or a basket. The small portion of fish, was tough and really inenable! There was no description of what was being served
Drinks , my wife ordered a gin and tonic , which when it arrived 20 mins later , and I had to chase the staff for it.When it arrived it had ice in it, so we sent it back and it still took another 10 mins to bring it back!
The tea she ordered came in a copper kettle, but it smelt of fish. The manager came and agreed , and promised to take it off the bill I don’t know if he did , so after such an embarrassing night , we wanted to leave,
Music , early in the evening they were playing Rap , not sure how that fits I ,
I am not sure how Thievery is one of the top 10 Lebanese resteranunts in Sydney according to Time Out, but perhaps it has changed hands.
We went along for Breakfast at 9am on Saturday. The food is amazing. The service was pretty slow and it is very dark in the morning. There was also super loud music in the morning.
This place never fails to amaze me. The food was spectacular and the service was second to none. Love this place and wouldn’t hesitate to come back!
Came for breakfast on Sunday to be greeted by loud doof doof rap music over which we could hardly hear ourselves think, let alone hold a conversation. This was slightly turned down upon our request, but remained rather loud and annoying throughout our meal. Don’t really think rap is appropriate cafe music. Despite coffee being on the menu, apparently their coffee machine is not operational, instead we were invited to go order takeaway coffees from another cafe down the road and bring them back to have with our meal (which we did). Food was fine, if slightly expensive for what it was. Wish we’d gone elsewhere.
Second time we dinne at Thievery and it has been a great experience both times.
We ordered about 8 dishes to share and we had time to enjoy each of them in a great space of time. The service and the atmosphere was great
Highly recommend 👌
We had a 7-8pm sitting. An hour is not enough to eat dinner, feel relaxed and enjoy the experience. The waiter took our plates at 8pm on the dot, yet half our order had not even been served. Great food but service and ambience were severely lacking. This was a transactional experience and not a relaxing one. Building an memorable experience is more important than ushering someone out the door 'on time'. I won't be going back and I won't be recommending thievery to my friends, no matter how good the food was.
Awesome food, awesome staff, music might be a bit too loud at some points but overall good experience
Small but tasty portions, although not up to Stanbuli’s more refined service and atmosphere. Might be intentional for today’s youth. Despite half-full ground floor, felt like the slow food movement. We nibbled on one falafel and hummus for an hour until other dishes arrive. Empty glasses remained on the table. Worst part is blaring rap music.
Delicious food. The restaurant was very cold on a cold morning.
Great food. Chocolate tart with Murray salt amazing!!
Friendly and helpful service.
Nice wine list.
A little bit noisy but overall a wonderful night. I will be back soon. Need to try that Zhoug sauce on the Lebanese fried chicken :). Thank you team.
I have been here for dinner previously which was good however, my experience with their breakfast service was pretty bad. Staff seemed like they were hungover & didn't want to be there. The manager was sitting in the dining area having an argument with a customer service person over the phone which was off putting. Music was played over a free Spotify account so ads kept loudly playing over the speakers. My partner's Shakshuka was overcooked. Not worth $40 for breakfast...
Amazing. We had the veggie banquet and it was incredible, the burnt butter hummus was outstanding and we had some of the best falafels ever. The wine was good, but a little on the expensive side, I think the cheapest was $51 or so.
We will be back!
The food was delicious. It's a simple menu and not too overwhelming. We ordered four plates to share and they came out one by one just in time as we just about finished each one. We were offered more lebanese bread when we ran out. Wait staff were quite attentive. Good range of cocktails too. Would definitely be back.
Really great food. Lovely staff. A bit noisy. We’re in high stools which got tiring
Great food (seasoning was spot on) and friendly service. Quirky decor. But the music choice was annoying. I really don’t want to listen to loud gangsta rap when eating my dinner!
Every bite was packed with flavour. Very modern fusion take on middle eastern food. The only thing that wasn't to my liking was it was so noisy. But it was a Friday night. And I'm just getting old.
Though I wasn’t too pleased with our seating at first, the staff were super attentive and the food totally made up for the slight inconvenience and street exposure. Happily, the noise was at our back so it wasn’t as deafening as usual. Of course we’ll be back.
Incredible food, not enough space for our plates on the table so we gained a table. Everything was staggered well and so YUM.
I would recommend Thievery to a friend based purely on the excellence of both the food and value. However, I would warn them that the service I experienced was very poor. The staff were slow to take orders, slow to serve and then in a rush to clear our dishes before we had finished. The music was too loud to allow easy conversation and that spoiled the ambience. My thought is that front of house needs retraining in customer service.
Beautiful dishes and tasty and great service and room around each table.
Absolutely fantastic food and wonderful service! A little noisy for my liking, but that's me showing my age!
The food and drinks were delicious. We had the lunch banquet and there was enough food for everyone! The fried chicken was the best! Paired with the bottomless Bellinis everyone had a great afternoon!
Small and stylish restaurant with amazing food. The halloumi dish is amazing and don’t skip on the dessert (the cheesecake is out of this world)
Great choice of dishes. All food was tasty. Cocktails interesting but pricey. Recommended.
Went for Chicken and Toum Tuesday and they were both delicious
Delicious food and excellent service by friendly staff. The shared plates were very good value!
