We say drink like you eat, classics with a twist is what we do. Fundamental cocktails have been remixed to include Middle Eastern spices, blossoms and liquors, reinvented and enlightening. The wines are natural, smashable "drink now” styles and are heavily featured alongside Australian and international principal producers and regions all of which are heavily focused on terroir and drinkability. All served with a loud helping of the best of old school OG Hip Hop.
Whether booking for a large group or something more intimate, we can always cater for any occasion
Amazing food like I've never had before. Can't wait to go back!
Noisy, stairs were not easy to navigate, wine was expensive, but good and service were very good.
One of the worst experience i have had.
Very rude service. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
i had told my work colleagues about this place, came back and told them about the experience, they wouldn't be going there in a hurry!!!
RACHAEL is the worst in customer service!
We went here for our anniversary dinner with the hope to get interesting, unique and flavoursome food that didn't break the wallet! We had the vegetarian feast which was definitely worth it - Middle Eastern food with a yum cha twist. The service was incredible, they were polite, made us laugh and were so on top of it. If I had to comment on one minor thing, it'd be the timing of the dishes, some were slightly delayed, however, they did apologise without us commenting so understandibly it must've been a kitchen issue. With that being said, it was such a minor issue and the food and service were completely worth it - I would highly and proudly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience an edgy fine dining experience.
Excellent innovative food. Highly recommended by NY times and they were right.
I have been to Thievery before the menu was changed. actually have taken friends there before, food was great and so was the service.
this time took a friend, was very disappointed overall.
Delicious food, great value, nice buzzy environment
Set lunch menu could have been more generous. One square of tofu to share between 2 people? Come on! Was still left hungry afterwards so not worth the price. Come for the booze and order the chicken.
I have eaten here before and it was AMAZING! this time though they had a fusion yum cha menu, which none of us liked like their regular menu.
Amazing food, great service considering they were packed. The only disappointment would be, because there were only 2 of us we couldn’t have the 9 course degustation menu.... but it was still amazing
Lovely food prepared with care and imagination. we had vegetarian feast with added fried chicken bonus (a mistake that we didn’t have to pay for) a bit noisy I’m glad we went at lunch. Attentive pleasant service.
Will go again.
We arrived here to find the place a lot more relaxed/hip than we expected. This is a hip and trendy spot, with funky music. A young vibe for sure. The food is mostly vegetarian (not entirely) which is why we visited, and was yummy. The food is excellent, casual but full of flavour. Delicious. The service though was patchy and untrained. One staff member walked right by our table while I was waving to her, she was clearly somewhere else. Don't let that put you off though. The food is great with an interesting drinks menu. We'll be back.
Great place to go for brunch. Service was perfect and atmosphere was great. Would come back again! A must try place
After reading great reviews about thievery, we were so disappointed. When we arrived for my booking and it was like I interrupted their day! Sat us with menus (no water or drink order taken) where we sat for 20 minutes without seeing anyone again. Another table behind us was trying to order they didn't come back to them either. Can't comment on the food because we walked out, and not one word was said to us.
Fun return to fusion and very well executed! We thoroughly enjoyed the YumCha set menu
Food is excellent and very creative. The banquets are good value for adults, not so much for kids though. The service was a bit lacking when we were there as it was hard to get anyone's attention but when there they were lovely. Very noisy though. Would go back for the food.
The food was outstanding. Just a little noisy but could vary night to night depending on the crowd. But the food and cocktails were superb and the service was great. Highly recommend.
Food and service were brilliant - however the noise level made any conversation completely impossible
Awesome food. Great service. Great wines. Only improvement would be reduce the waste and not serve the pita breads in a paper bag but maybe done due to table space limitations
Fantastic food, wonderful service, had a lovely night. Will return.
Great little place in Glebe! Even though we went just for a quick dinner before movies, everything was great! From the service (shout out to the lovely girl who served us) to the food and music, was all just amazing :)
Great as always
Heckin fantastic food and great value. Highly recommend the zaatar infused cocktail!
Great food however we could barely talk to each other because of the noise level. Bit of a shame as it was a catch-up lunch.
Loved all the food we ordered!
The hostess was incredible rude and abrupt upon arrival, which immediately set the tone. Our reservation was for 7pm, we noticed on the website there was a 15 min grace period, so we did not phone to say we were running late. When we arrived at 7:12pm, I accidentally said, "Hello, we're here for our 7.15 reservation" the hostess responded abruptly with "ah, no, your reservation was for 7pm, you're actually late, we were just about to cancel your reservation!" and then rudely pointed in the direction we needed to go. Shortly after ordering our meal, a waitress came over and said "hi guys, since you arrived late, the lamb you've ordered will take 25 mins to cook, so we will need to move you to another table as we have this one reserved at 830." I have never been treated in such a manner at a restaurant before. This was our third visit to the Thievery and we had never experienced this before. We will not be returning again. The food that we ordered was not very good. The cauliflower salad was bland and inedible, it was left untouched after our first try of it. The golden potatoes were bland and dry, so much so that I had to ask for a side sauce, to which the waiter responded with "oh, um, I'm not sure, I'll just check if I can". If it wasn't for the rudeness of the staff, we would have given the restaurant another chance, however the unwarranted treatment we received that night was one that cannot be forgotten. It put a damper on our evening and made us feel incredibly uncomfortable.
The service was very slow and they could not remember our drinks order (for multiple rounds of drinks orders). The food took more than an hour to come out and when it did, everything came out at once. We were so hungry, we had to order an additional plate of chicken since it took so long for the rest of the food to come out. One of the pieces of chicken was raw and we had to send it back. I generally like to dine at Thievery, but the Saturday banquet lunch was not worth the poor service.
Amazing food but the service was terrible. It took us 20 mins to get the wait staff’s attention to order and continued to be difficult.
Plus, the music was suddenly turned up to a level that made conversation unreasonable. The table with a baby beside us left due to the music.
Great for food and catchup but not for a date as it can get quite noisy
Came in for bottomless brunch...birthday gathering for myself and my housemates. It was awesome. Food was amazing, came in a very timely fashion, drinks were delicious and the staff (especially one boy working the bar for two levels like a champion) took every opportunity to accomdate our needs. Having worked as a manager at a venue where we also do a bottomless brunch, it was nice to be on the other side for once! And for that reason, just really appreciate how great everything was despite how busy you were with that large function upstairs and so much going on. Only comment would be, bottomless cocktails are amazing but maybe that bar tender could have done with a little more support smashing out some drinks. No disrespect though, the team did an awesome job. One of my fav local spot so we will be back many more times
As usual, the music was way too loud and I did wish the servings were a little bigger for the prices. But as always, the service was excellent and the food always interesting and delicious. Of course we’ll be back!
Strong pluses and strong minuses on our visit. Great interior, tables a little too tightly packed for me. Music was great but a bit too loud to chat in a group (we were 4). Food was genuinely delicious so I would definitely go back but a small downer was that some of the chicken was undercooked. I’m sure this was just a one off and because they were super busy but a real kitchen 101 nonetheless. Like I said though, I’d still definitely recommend based on the flavours alone.
The positives - the food was amazing - the range, flavours, reasonable serving sizes - and that's what you are there for right? The staff were helpful, inviting and friendly. The downside- it was very busy and noisy (even on a Wednesday night) and our table was near the front door....frequent comings and goings passed our table. Service was very good in bouts but strained at other times because they were so busy - had to wait longer than expected. The negatives won't prevent me from returning.
Love love loved it. Would have been 5 stars overall but I think we got some dodgy prawns (or something). Both my friend and I felt a bit sick later that night.
Will defs come back though.
Cocktails were very yummy.
Thanks so much!
The music was crazy loud. And our table had to shout to each other.
Other than that, Thievery is great.
Music was way too loud. Apparently they were understaffed due to two people calling in sick so the service was very slow. Food was great! If choosing the feast, go in even numbers, because the dishes serve two and they round down on servings for odd numbers.
Great high table outside on their beautiful terrace for my daughters birthday brunch.
Loved the Tahini pancake, and scrambled eggs with a pesto type sauce and sourdough.
Staff were lovely and great coffee.
Poor service. Food didn't come out together. Meat was overcooked and chewy. Would not recommend.
Food as always was excellent.
However, I received my gin & tonic, with no tonic (there was a fair bit of confusion when I tried to get this rectified), They forgot half our chicken, and then asked if we wanted more bread (which we said yes) but it never came.
The staff and the patrons seemed to have trouble hearing/talking -the music was SO loud we had to keep shouting to each other. All for loud music in bars & clubs, but this was pretty ridiculous - esp. for a restaurant. Of course I will always be back, as hopefully this visit was an anomaly.
Food was AMAZING the best brunch banquet I’ve had in Sydney. The service was a little off, not good communication between the staff members. We asked what drinks were involved in the brunch and they said just one cocktail which none of us liked. We then asked if we could have something else and the other waitress said of course you can have bubbles, which is what we wanted to start with. We had to ask to be topped up sometimes. Other than that was great and food was perfect, service could have been a tad better!
