Need to book at 5:42 AM?
We will be back soon.
A warm welcome awaits you here and we hope that you will enjoy your visit and you return time and time again.
The Yeoman has a good selection of draught and bottled beers, larger and ciders to choose from, and a well-stocked wine cellar.
The Yeoman Restaurant has an exciting menu & then we have regular Chef’s Specials to choose from as well!
But the one thing that draws customers back time after time, is the atmosphere in this traditional Kentish pub, with its Warm Welcome!
Fri, Sat 9:30 am–12:00 am
Sun 9:30 am–9:00 pm
The food was god and served in a reasonably quick time by pleasant staff, only slight complaint no horseradish sauce available to go with roast beef!.
Waiter dropped drinks and didn’t mop for ten minutes so had to change tables as it was left running into our shoes and bags.
Side dishes were not processed and came 15 minutes after rest of food.
Pigs in blankets were a bowl of full size sausages and slices bacon - not wrapped.
Then accompaniment next to the roast dinner was unidentifiable but could have possibly been cauliflower cheese. This was black and chewy on the underside.
Staff were friendly and some parts of the food tasted nice.
been before and has good food, service was a bit slow had to wait for 1 hr before the meal turned up, not too good when i have 3 hungry kids asking how much longer as starving. overall would still come back.
very slow service, and the 3 waiters present on the day seemed all very young and quiet and inexperienced. that let the overall experience down. disappointed that upon giving us the bill the waitress immediately gave us the card machine and asked how we were paying. as we were a group of 2 couples we were hoping to split the bill and wanted time to work this out and also check the bill was correct, this waitress gave us no time and it felt as though she hadn't even considered that we may have wanted to read over the bill first of all before being rushed to pay. food was very good though.
The Food very nice, the service prompt and polite.
Good value at midday
Food freshly cooked so do not rush in for a quick meal
The meal was good enough for the price. I would rather pay more and have a bigger portion. I felt the starter and desserts were ok. The roast potatoes needed more crispness and portion of veg small and not a good mix. The staff did not smile once. Polite enough but we certainly didn’t feel welcomed. We were not asked if we wanted condiments with our meal and had to ask. For the price it’s not a bad meal but I feel could have been bigger, better cooked roasts and more veg and variation, I’d pay more for that and more friendly welcoming staff would have been nice. Polite but no personality sadly. No engagement with us as guests. I view that as important not terrible but could be improved .
I have tried to give the Yeoman my support, as it's a local venture, but if it is to succeed, it really needs to buck its ideas up! Everytime I have been there it has run out of something. On one occasion it was vanilla ice-cream; on two other occasions it was the dessert I ordered, another time it was Pinot Grigio and, on Wednesday, it was sweet potato. There is no excuse for this. Surely, emergency supplies could be obtained from Tesco down the road, rather than disappoint customers. On Wednesday, my food was overcooked and the portions were very small. The party on the next table were complaining about the same things, too. They, too, had waited an inordinately long time for their food to be served. To be honest, Yeoman, if you want to succeed, you have got to improve or locals, like me and my friends, will stop supporting you.
Overall the food was good, service was a bit hit and miss the waitress wanted to take our drinks order before we had even sat down!!. There were several options not available which clearly the kitchen had not communicated through to front of house,. The restaurant wasn’t busy but they only had 2 menus available for us (party of 4), deserts were clearly bought in and generally underwhelming.
I feel with the right staff training and management this could be great but at the moment it’s just not hitting the mark.
Great food and very friendly staff, the only problem was a one hour wait for our food.
The overall look and comfort of the Yeoman is very pleasing and we will definitely go again hopefully the food will not take so long next time .
Went out for a meal at the yeoman and I am very impressed how the improvements are showing. The fireplace gives the pub a cozy ambience and the staff really show how much they care. My friend has several allergies, so we were not sure what she could possibly have, the manager promptly offered to check with the chef what dish he would suggest for her. She fancied fish, so the chef cooked a dish that was not on the menu just for her. She loved it. As for me I had the lobster and as always it was perfect and tasty. Also I had the soup, mushroom with truffle oil! It was fantastic.
Definitely coming back.
It was a rubbish Saturday night, the barman seemed clueless, half the starters were not available, there was a 45 minute wait for the starters the same for the main, starters were ok the mains were underwhelming, the couple on the table next to us left the restaurant after their starters due to the wait for their main, I'll give it 6 months unless they change their ways.
We were looking for somewhere around Maidstone that we could have a drink, relax and grab something to eat. We decided to give a try to the Yeoman, as one of my friends was there for a Sunday lunch last week. The waiter was very good, he even asked us to try some of his new iced coffee as the team are gathering some new ideas. We were made feel very welcome and sat there for a few hours just for a catch up. Finally we got hungry and shared a few of the dishes recommended by the manager. The lobster, the fillet , and halloumi won it for me. We will come back for sure. The food is lovely and made to order, and the atmosphere is great. Already booked next month for me and my friends to meet up in there. Looking forward for the new specials and coffees.
We decided to take the Yeoman up on their Burns night special. It was rather disappointing. There were a number of items that were not available, which ruled out several items on the set menu.
The mains were ok, although the portions weren’t thought through. The server offered to correct it, but it was too late in the meal. The mains were overpriced for what you got.
The desert was a real disappointment. We ordered Cranachan and were told there were no Raspberry’s. When it arrived the server owned up the chef hadn’t ever made it before. This was clear as it was just porridge with a strawberry on top. We weren’t charged for them in the end, but what the point of having a set menu if the chef can’t cook it.
The service was very slow and we weren’t once asked for a drinks order.
The manager was really nice and friendly, but that didn’t make up for what was a really disappointing meal.
Had a delicious meal with friends. Fantastic service, plenty of choice on the menu and a welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be recommending to my friends. Great to have somewhere this side of the green for dinner and drinks
Our meals were very good but both the seabass option & chicken dishes were unavailabo & no vegan dessert option
We had a great Sunday roast. Large serving. Cooked to perfection. Attentive service from Rob, the South African chap.
Enjoyed dining here so much, I was back again for lunch two days later.
Great lunch menu with a large and varied choice of dishes. Delicious food, beautifully presented and exceptional value fir money. Friendly staff too.
Had lunch with friends great menu choice , Excellent food, service and value for money.
Great night, food and service.
We both had the roast pork which was so tender & mouth-wateringly scrummy served with fresh & tasty seasonal veg cooked perfectly for us, still a little al-dente 😋! I’d also like to single out the thoughtful & non-intrusive customer service. Many thanks guys, We’ll be back soon !
Lovely meals and great service. I will be recommending
Booked at The Yeoman for dinner to see what changes had been made. It looks amazing now totally transformed!
I ordered the risotto and my son had the kids meatballs. My meal was really tasty and cooked perfectly. My son ate all of his meal and we had the brownie for dessert this was melt in the mouth gooey chocolate heaven.
Or waiter was a young lad very polite and helpful.
I will definitely be recommending and returning to try the steak as the table next to us had one and it looked really good.
Had a brilliant night with my partner. Lovely lobster dinner made even better by friendly service. Overall very pleased with the experience we had today and would definitely recommend paying this place a visit.
Have been to The Yeoman several times now. The food and service are always great. Very homely and laid-back atmosphere. Would definitely come again and recommend to family and friends.
We were given a booking for 6.30 on Sunday which is the end of Sunday service. The restaurant was untidy and noisy. We didn’t get our drinks until after the meal arrived. We ordered a bottle of red wine between three people. The waiter delivered three glasses of wine to the table, so we asked for the bottle. He returned with a full bottle. When we questioned this, he was totally dumbfounded and went away. He later returned saying he had to take the glasses of wine away, which we had drunk from. When we pointed this out he said ‘don’t worry I won’t say anything’. I hate to think what happened with this wine! The main course was awful, it was not very warm and my beef was at least 20% fat and gristle. The desserts were a little better.
Booking process convenient and easy. Food generally good, but desserts not as on menu and we were not informed. Initial welcome good but table service very very disappointing - mainly due to attitude of younger members of staff. We were really looking forward to a rare family evening together in a local establishment - The Yeoman has the potential to be successful, but needs to sort out its customer service. Would love to return, but will wait quite a while to let the staff sort themselves out (more staff training?).
Service was extremely slow despite only three tables in use, although the waiter was clearly doing his best (alone).
Food was extremely disappointing, small portions and overcooked. Several menu items were unavailable, despite the lunch menu being limited. Even at 2 meals for £12 it was well overpriced for the food we received.
It has benefitted from the refurb and looks great but was lacking in atmosphere due to small number of bookings.
We felt embarrassed to have invited friends here and would have had a better meal if I’d served jam sandwiches at home!
The Yeoman sets a new impressive standard for food, drink and service in the main Bearsted area. Situated on the main road, it doesn't have to directly compete with the pubs on the village green, and makes for a very pleasant, more reserved alternative. With an interesting selection of game flavoured crisps and seasonal food, and set in stunning new decor, it is a new favourite lunch spot. We did have to wait a little while for service even though it didn't seem busy, but it wasn't an overly long wait. All in all, it's a very welcome new addition to the local area's dining options.
Unfortunately our waiters were inexperienced and did not listen to the answers to their questions. I ordered sausage and mash and asked if it came with veg and was advised no so I ordered veg and it arrived with veg but no mash. The gravy (jus) was about two teaspoons so I had to ask for more gravy (which arrived fairly promptly). My husbands salmon also arrived with just veg and no potatoes. The waiters were trying quite hard but needed more experience. The sausages had more garlic in than I have ever had before and the after effects lasted for two days. My poor hairdresser! Maybe with time it will improve.
Went to the Yeoman for the first time this week after driving past every day , recently refurbished and so glad I visited , will definitely visit again
Went on a date with my new fiancé, from the moment we walked in we felt welcomed food was to die for and that crumble was a great end to our meal, will return in the near future. Well done yeomen.
Very good experience - great place. Fantastic alternative to the places on the green.
My friend I ate with has a lot of Dietary requirements & is vegetarian they were brilliant with this. Still think they need more of an area for people to sit and have a drink before or after the meal. But overall good food service and definitely go back
very good service the food was very value and very tasty would recommend to friends would come back
First time visiting the new Yeoman Pub in Bearsted. We had heard really good things about the decor and food and we were not disappointed. Attentive service and a great selection on the menu as well. We will be telling all of our friends and will be booking again shortly. We would recommend this as a well deserved change to the existing offering on the Green.
Had such a wonderful time with my friends, tasty food, lovely stuff will most definitely will be returning and have recommended to all my friends to go and see for themselves
Fantastic time at the new Yeoman. Well worth a visit.
Lovely refurbished pub, enjoyed a family Sunday roast. Staff are very welcoming. Food was good but would of liked a little more veg. The fruit crumble was soooo good.
Had a fantastic time at The Yeoman yesterday!!! We had a very friendly welcome and this service continued throughout our entire stay. The food was delicious and served in good time, there is a great selection of drinks and again these were served to us quickly and always with a smile.
Everyone we saw or spoke to looked happy and friendly which made us feel very comfortable. Rob (I think the manager) in particular was outstanding-very friendly and accommodating, nothing seemed too much trouble for him. We will definitely be back!!!
