Staff amazing. Food great. Would defo go back
Service was good, waitresses were very friendly. Try the plant-based vegan burger it was amazing!
I haven't been to the Windmill for ages but thought I'd try it again as was with a vegetarian friend and assumed the choice would be better than my local pub. Unfortunately, there were a couple of veggie dishes that weren't available and the waitress wasn't knowledgeable enough about the ones that were ie, what 'plants' are in the plant-based burgers, answer 'quinoa and spinach' - this wasn't the case. The pub looked unloved and uncared for. No plants in the big planters outside, just cigarette butts and tables needing a good wash down. A plastic bag full of rubbish and other debris was in the car park when we arrived and was still there next day when we picked up my friends car at 1pm. Broken window on side door with wooden piece over it. Furniture (chairs) rickety and broken. Toilets dirty and with plant pots, again with no plants in them. Needs a good clean and a lot of love. Staff friendly enough. Food 'fair' but nothing exciting. You need to keep up M&B, the pub world has moved on and you seem to be stuck in a rut. Windlesham is a beautiful area and needs a damn good pub - unfortunately it isn't the Windmill. I'm hoping for some action so I can come back again and have a lovely time.
Food was amazing and service was good. I asked for a quiet table and thats what we got. The Windmill never disappoints
An attractive setting with attentive staff, particularly the waitress Lydia. The menu was comprehensive and catered for all tastes. An added plus was the good-sized car park.
A group of four friends meet up at lease a couple of times a year. Always enjoy our meals and only wish my voucher had arrived before we had our meal!!!
MY HUSBAND AND I HAD SUNDAY LUNCH THERE WITH FRIENDS AND IT WAS JUST FABULOUS! WE HAVE EATEN THERE ON QUITE A FEW OCCASSIONS , JUST NEVER A SUNDAY , WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING AGAIN!
Everything was good have eaten their before and enjoyed the food, if I had not I would not retun
Very very poor. Used to be good here but very disappointing quality of food, presentation and service
Been going to windmill for a few years now and never been disappointed. Great value for money and wonderful service. Keep it up guys
Great food , staff and loved the decor , my only on reservation and is with so many restaurants is that they don’t offer or automatically put tap water on the table with or without asking . Restaurants in France, Spain and all over Europe do it as part of the service if you are eating there , I find it extremely irritating U.K. restaurants don’t do this unless trying to sell a premium brand . I do make this a positive or negative comment where ever I go . Very rarely do I have to do it abroad.
Sorry but one of the worst roast dinners we’ve ever had. Arrived and was told they were out of the beef, pork and the roast chicken was “turkey”... The soup had absolutely no flavour and was basically water and the roasts also had no flavour and were slightly cold. Service was slow, despite the restaurant being quiet. Was also freezing. Such a shame as we’ve had some quite nice meals in there, but after this experience we won’t be returning.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch with the family, great food in a nice setting.
It's had a makeover which has been well done and there are some great menu options. Staff are attentive and we didn't feel pressured to order and the waitress gave some good recommendations. Been here a few times now and it keeps getting better. Highly recommend.
All good , Sunday lunch was too big for the plates - very minor observation
Whilst the food was great and worth the money, they had no drought beer available just after midday. The waitress missed out taking an order from one of the party and we had to tell her (we were only a party of 7). We had to ask for sauces with our meal, they were not offered. We specifically mentioned there were 2 birthdays on the table but they only recognised one when bringing out our desserts. Will definitely go back but will leave it 3 months or so.
Hi, I feel as though I'm being harsh here because we thoroughly enjoyed our time with our friends, but the whole experience was disappointing. The staff were nice, but when they asked if our food was ok and we gave them a list of issues, no-one came back with any feedback from the kitchen or anywhere else. The food was poor. Barely warm and clearly had been cooked and left to stand in warmers for some time. The staff, although friendly leaned over one or other of us to put plates down when there was access all round the table and we had a bunch of young parents with a number of children so the noise level was much higher than we might have expected. I appreciate you cannot do anything about the manners of your guests, but the rest should have been better. We will not be returning which is a pity as The Windmill sits midway between us and our friends, so would have been an ideal location.
I post very few negative reviews as we eat out all the time and generally I find something positive to say. I struggled this time and won't be recommending The Windmill I'm afraid.
Love the new decor!
Fabulous food, great service, fantastic bar man who made some fab recommendations
Very poor in comparison to the Belvedere and the warren
Open table did not inform The Windmill of my booking.
We were pleasantly surprised. The service was good and the food very tasty. The ambience is pleasant - an obviously old building tastefully brought up to date and plenty of parking. We had a great evening.
We went for Sunday lunch and as we’d booked we were served - unfortunately the kitchen had a problem and were turning away non bookers. That said, the service was friendly and roast meals tasty if a little over cooked. We have dined here before and the standard is usually excellent so we will return.
Thank you so much for a great evening. Very helpful staff. Very busy but very calm staff.
Food is good but after that it is difficult to be positive. The ceiling was leaking water. The table that they were going to sit us at ( we had booked) was given to some walk ins. We were left with a small table in a corner away from all other diners. It took us three choices of wine before we found one they had in stock- they did knock money off the bill to try and put this right. The coffee was so weak you could see the bottom of the cup through it. Mixed experience!
Really disappointed been there on many ocasions previously always been amazing. The refurb means very little room between chairs and tables, luckily none of us were fat, as there would have been no chance of sitting. ‘Bottomless gravy’ advertised on menu i had to request more gravy and that cane in a dolls house sized saucepan. Service ws rxcellent but i reccomended the windmill onnpas experience just so very disappointed. Fels more likw a weatherspoons or hingry horse mow😟😟😟😟😟
Service was a lacking slightly.
Ordered a medium fillet steak and it looked came looking burnt, very overdone.
Peppercorn sauce lacked flavour and slightly thin
Crumble was nice though
This is the same menu as The Belvedere Arms, yet there is no comparison. Belvedere wins hands down for food, atmosphere and staff.
A nice place to meet friends we see about three times a year and very good value for money.
Having checked the reviews for this local gastro-pub, we we arrived hoping for a delicious meal, a few drinks and a pleasant evening. However the problems came thick and fast, unlike the service.
The starter Mezze board, was fine and unremarkable.
This was followed by a lobster and crab fish cake, of mushy, unseasoned gloop with a dry pea puree (pretending to be velouté with truffle). Having raised this with the waiting staff we were told that there was nothing missing from the plate & our complaint was dismissed. The fish was sent back to the kitchen, and when we raised it with the manager, there was in fact no more velouté & the kitchen had been sending out a replacement garnish, with no apologies sent to diners.
Others at the table received crab & chorizo linguini, unfortunately there was no flavour of crab, the prawns had not been fried off & the chorizo had not touched a pan.
The saving grace of the meal were the gin & tonics, and the fact that we had a cheese board waiting for us to fill the void when we returned to our hotel.
In the words of my grandmother “it was all fur coat & no knickers”.
Lovely setting, great food , and good value for money ✅
The Windmill has recently been refurbished and it now offers a much lighter ambience. The chairs are more comfortable. The food is extremely good and the staff are friendly and efficient. We were there on a Monday evening and it was virtually full. I would recommend booking every time - Just in case.
Nice Sunday lunch. Good food and warm service.
Two of the three dishes were very good bu the duck salad was not. duck was overcooked and hard to eat
Awful plates came out at different times & missing half of the food that should of been on it , we were told they had run out !!!!! Never go back again.
Excellent looking menu, very good food served, ( proper pies too ) very friendly efficient service in a busy restaurant, , proper pies, great mini deserts.
Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend
