The Wild Goose
Very cozy and a fabulous waitress...
Ally was great she was the only one working the bar and tables a one woman dinomo !!!
Give her a raise she took care of the whole restaurant never broke a sweat kept smiling and was just terrific . An inspiration
their special autumn salad for 18.00 at lunch was nothing but a very small portion of lettuce, 4 very thinly slices of apple, a few cashews, lot of craisens, and not much else Shame on them
Love the decor. Food and service is always great.
Food was superb, service was excellent. Great neighborhood place to eat. Went during the week and it was quiet in the dining room early but definitely filled up. Bar was busy. Great menu with daily specials. Prix fix meal is a good deal at $35, three courses.
Great choice we eat at every couple of weeks
We went there on Monday November 4 th for my sons birthday . The food was awesome and the waitress was excellent . It was nice and quiet as opposed to the Saturday previously where it was very noisy and we had to sit at the bar because we didn’t have reservations. The food is top notch but it is a little pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. Peter
We were a party of 5 that was seated at a table for 4. Very uncomfortable. No leg room and very crowded on the table. Food was good but service was slow. We asked for a win list but was given a list of wines by the glass only. Had to ask for a list of wines by the bottle. My son asked for a second drink and he never received it. Because it was a Saturday night, the restaurant was very crowded and the noise level was high. We had been to the Wild Goose one other time, but it was during the week and service was much better. Probably will not go back on a Saturday night again.
Very nice dining experience! Top notch
Had a family dinner and reserved a table. The food was outstanding as usual. They just had a leak from the roof that we were seated next to. Would have rather not been near that and not gotten dripped on as I moved. But that is just a one off issue that I’m sure if fixed now. Overall delicious and wonderful service.
This was our first time here and will definitely go back. The food was outstanding and the servers / hostess couldn’t have been nicer. This is the best restaurant we have tried in PW.
We went to Wild Goose for Restaurant Week, so the prix fixe value was outstanding. But more than that, the food was excellent, and the staff was attentive (not overly so) and very pleasant and helpful. Terrific salad and wonderful hangar steak main course. My companion loved the pork tenderloin dish. And the cheesecake dessert was beautifully presented, as a personal cake, and was delicious.
Everything is delicious! Can't go wrong with any option you choose.
Will go again!
Went here for PW Restaurant Week. Pre fix menu was outstanding. Service and drink selection was great too. Definitely recommend.
This is a fabulous restaurant any day and any season. However, it is “Restaurant Week” in Port Washington and the menu was superb. Packed with happy diners and friendly and professional staff, this is the best place in town!
food was fun and delicious - wanted to try so many things on the menu. Service was right on - would go back in a instant - everyone worked as a team, it was nice to see all helping each other - it wasn't one person it was the whole lot - lots of fun
Dining here is always guaranteed to provide a Top Notch experience. Kitchen and Servers are at the top of their game. Don't skip dessert......
The food is always very good at Wild Goose. Each time we've been there, everyone has really enjoyed our meals. As noted, it's a pretty cramped restaurant and the service is spotty as well.
1st night of port wash rest week, pretty packed house. no one greeted us at the door and the hostess stand/table/podium is tucked to the side. for me i'm not in a rush but i think service was slow, we were not checked on during our meal, took over 15 minutes for bread to hit the table, she took our order when she brought the water, just a bunch of little things like that that added up. i don't know if it was the kitchen or what. i do know our server had many other tables. perhaps on a less busy night my service would have been quicker and more personal, but as it stood, a little slow and impersonal. the food was fine, a good selection to sample from to get to know the restaurant which is the objective of rest week i suppose. no one even said good bye on our way out the door.
What a hidden gem right in the neighborhood! I've been wanting to try Wild Goose for a while and I finally made a reservation. So glad I did. I shared an arugula/fennel salad with my friend and the split was more than enough to start the taste buds going. Then I had Branzino with roasted potatoes and broccoli rabe. Outstanding!
The portions are nice sizes and each bite is delicious. The room is a little loud but not so much so that you can't enjoy pleasant conversation. I would rate it as good as any great restaurant in NYC!
There was only one staff person working on a Sunday afternoon. While she did a good job it was surprising that no one else was in the front of the house. She was the waitress, the bartender and the busboy!!
We went as a group of five after a 5K. The gnocchi was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend oxtail tacos and duck tamales. The ginger beer margarita was a refreshing treat too!
It was our first time dining at this restaurant! We had a GREAT experience!
Food and services is fantastic. I had the linguine with clams and shrimp. My wife had the swordfish special. Both dishes were delicious. Portions are generous. Great place for drinks, very laid back and casual.
Fish and chips is my favorite dish here but I’ve noticed that the portions are shrinking. Very unfortunate.
Our first time at The Wild Goose. Could not have been more pleased. A sweet, clean, simple low-key elegant space that let's the food speak for itself. Dishes are nicely presented and delicious. The menu was diverse and appealing. Service staff was very knowledgeable about the menu, professional and friendly. Will definitely return. Well done!
I have been to Wild Goose a few times and the food and service have been outstanding. You also cannot beat the location if you are meeting someone after work. That being said, the prices reflect the quality of food and service.
After having been to the Wild Goose about 6-8 times over a 6 month period I would say that the quality of the food and the service has steadily decreased.
Server tried to be funny but was more of a "wise-a...."; perhaps someone relatively new or just a bad day? You have to put it aside when working.
Having had the fried chicken once or twice it was generally good. This time the taste was off. Accompanying side of haricots vets was mushy; generally before it has been crisp. Burger was cooked properly but the bun used doesn't stand up to the cheese, juices and gets very soggy.
More and more I feel they are the poor cousin to the Brass Rail.
It was a great meal and the restaurant was packed!
Excellent food as always
It’s small and a little cramped but food is exceptional and service is great.
The food was great , the atmosphere was very good and the decor very chic ! I would definitely go back and recommend it to a friend !
We had been to The Wild Goose when they first opened, service then was inconsistent; we've heard it's better now- I'm not sure. The food was good, and, they were very receptive to our special requests- and got it right. Service was ok- our server disappeared mid meal, and was replaced with another, competent server. It is very loud.
Been here a number of times and it's always been great. Always recommend The Wild Goose. If this past Tuesday night had been my first visit, I wouldn't rush back. I'm chalking it up to the fact that it was Tuesday and the "A" team was off. So, I'll be back but I'll be wary.
My only complaint is the noise level. It really Interferes with your ability to relax and enjoy your cocktails and food which are both excellent.
We had a really great meal and the service was fantastic. It was a little noisy for my liking, but that is truly the only criticism I have.
friendly and happy staff greet you...then you are presented with exquisitely tasting bread that is warmed and it’s a treat with the beautifully presented butter that looks like whipped cream. the flavors from each dish are bursting at the seams — the meat and fish are so flavorful with the carefully prepared sides that are literally a carnival of flavors...you almost think you are dining at an establishment located in manhattan, but you are really in port washington. kudos to the great minds and team behind the wild goose...every detail down to the plate selection by dish were carefully contemplated. oh and dessert, even though the ricotta cheesecake wasn’t mine i was encouraged to try it so i took tiny bites to savor the smoothness of the well prepared delight. thank you for a beautiful dining experience.
