Lovely stay- thank you! Great value with stay and 8 course meal package. Nice location / decor. Attentive and welcoming service too. Just a few improvement suggestions, bed was a little too soft for us / wobbly (bed broken and repaired with gaffa tape). Some dishes a little bland for our preference, e.g. tomato dish on taster menu. Breakfast, only one choice from the menu, we’d have liked both continental and something cooked afterwards. After eggs on toast I was still a little hungry. Overall we liked it a lot so thank you!
We absolutely loved the food. Went for the 8 course taster menu. It was superb.
The food and service were amazing. Not a cheap night out but worth it.
Food was very tasty, but there was a distinct lack of vegetables. Restaurants need to encourage healthy eating.
A totally wonderful experience from the moment we arrived to the time of checkout. Lovely room, friendly staff and a beautiful meal. We will be back in the near future.
All food aspects were excellent however the only issue with modern restaurants was the lack of materials[Curtains, carpet, drapes]for noise reduction. When full is was quite noisy with conversations.
I have been to this restaurant many times now and feel so lucky to have a wonderful restaurant so close to home.
The standardard of food and service are so high, I have travelled the world for business and pleasure and this restaurant never ceases to bring a smile, truly engaging people who want to please, so relaxed you never want to leave, cannot wait to go back, long may it continue.
Beautiful meal, staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. We will be returning for sure.
I would recommend but probably for a special occasion.
Great Sunday lunch with exceptional service
Service excellent. Food well cooked but lacked a little something. Would certainly visit again.
Was disappointed with everything about this experience. One of our party had dairy allergy and her choice was very limited the waiter had to ask the kitchen and didn’t even have alternatives for her. We had been here years ago with the previous owners and had one of the best meals . Such a shame .
Within two weeks we were two times at the Wife of Bath. In both cases the dinner was gorgeous. At the second time we had a menu with corresponding wines; in most of the cases they were spanish and perfectly selected. The service was very friendly and attemptive. We enjoyed the evenings quite well and would recommend the restaurant (and the hotel as well) to our friends.
Innovative and delicious food in a relaxed environment. The tarte tatin was exceptional. It is supposed to be shared by 2 people but there was plenty for 3 people. Friendly staff. Lovely old building fastidiously clean and welcoming. Wye itself is a bonus - a delightful and well kept village with quaint buildings and a fascinating church - ideal for a stroll after such a good lunch.
Fabulous paella and desserts with lovely surprises along the way!
Great value lunch and wines with excellent service particularly from the Manager
Last minute booking whilst on holiday in Kent, and what a treat! Service was fabulous, very friendly, helpful & not pretentious. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a kids menu, and the portion was very generous. The food was plentiful and very delicious. Would highly recommend Wife of Bath.
Our first visit to the Wife of Bath was on a Saturday lunchtime. We chose our meals from the A La Carte menu and all were excellent. Even the Amuse Bouche (steak tartare) was an explosion of flavours in the mouth. The rabbit starter and monkfish in a girolle sauce were outstanding, but every dish was excellent. We look forward to returning soon to try some more of their delicious food.
One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. We went for the 5 course tasting menu and it was flawless. The only thing I would say is the crab mousse was served more than once - and it would have been good to replace this with an alternative next time. That said, the crab mousse was beautiful. My partner was able to swap in a few different courses as he doesn’t like fish and the staff facilitated this excellently. I don’t think I’ve been anywhere else with such amazing service, the people were polite and friendly, and their attention to detail was perfect. Overall, fantastic. I’ll be going back
First class restaurant .Not cheap but no complaints whatsoever.
A very enjoyable experience. Avery nice meal and venue for a birthday lunch.
Absolutely great meal - food excellent, service perfect, ambience great. Would highly recommend and so pleased we have a little gem like this in the "Kitchen of England!"
Very much enjoyed the daily tasting menu with paired wines - all beautifully presented with a relaxed style of service and a nice buzz around the place
Fantastic food and service.
The ingredients sourced locally.
Would return again.
I would book an early dinner as it got noisier as the evening went on.
Fantastic restaurant. We opted for the 5 course taster menu with wine pairing. 👌🏻
What a refreshing experience. A lovely, short walk from the railway station. A light, modern decor with comfortable seating. The menu was modern too with an interesting collection of dishes. We were a bit confused by the configuration of options and pricing but were able to take the best options for us and dish choices. The crab was sweet and fresh, the lamb delicious and the added courses in between were exciting and welcome. We felt we had a special occasion for this, our wedding anniversary and we felt welcomed. The staff were friendly. We are planning another visit as we were tempted by the special Saturday menu of paella and a bottle of wine at £50 for two. Thank you.
Excellent experience - they catered nicely to GF dietary requirements - what a pleasure!!
A really great tasting experience. The food was excellent with the crab, hake and puddings truly exceptional. The wines were really super with some imaginative and effective pairings. I'll be back.
Lovely overall experience, had the Sunday lunch with my family, will definitely be going back.
Had a wonderful time on Saturday night, the food was amazing and each and every member of staff that interacted with us were a credit to the place
One of the best meals I’ve ever had, I’d recommend in a heartbeat!
Lovely lunch on Saturday at Wife of Bath. My tomato and pepper tart starter was very good although my husband's crab starter was a little too dominated by other flavours in it so the crab did not really show through. However both main courses (hake and monkfish) were superb - worth coming just for them - and the desserts were lovely too. Excellent service as well and I liked the fact that they pointed out that the service charge was optional - not many restaurants do that! We were happy to pay it.
The food was exceptional, the Restaurant had a lovely ambience and the service was very good.
Will definitely be back.
As usual, fantastic food and service, thoroughly recommended
Excellent service from the initial warm welcome to the goodbye. Fantastic quality and variety of food on the taster menu.
Highly recommend dining at The Wife of Bath
Excellent, well balanced food, friendly and attentive service, strongly recommended
Tasting menu was very good and a very reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations.
We really enjoy this Restaraunt, great food, great people and great location, lunch or evening always a good feel about the place, very friendly and happy to meet individual requirements. A must visit Restaraunt for great quality and amazing imagination. Look forward to going back.
We had a wonderful meal out here with visiting family. The crab appetizer was a particular standout. We also loved the fish mousse spread that came with the bread and the other small lagniappes. Good wine recommendation from our server. For the main, we all had the monkfish which was very good although a little bland -- could have used more "acid" and seasoning. Next time I would try another main. The service was outstanding -- friendly, informative, attentive but never intrusive. It's a bit spendy but worth it for a special meal in a lovely atmosphere.
We have dined at The Wife of Bath on numerous occassions and it was once again a pleasant experience with good service and good food, a restaurant with consistency like this one is hard to find.
