The Wayfarer's interior, designed by the award-winning Meyer Davis Studio Inc , evokes a feeling of “old meets new,” drawing inspiration from the 1970’s blended with the classic New York of the 1800’s. The multi-leveled restaurant offers the choice to observe passerby's on the main floor by our open cafe glass windows or enjoy a cocktail in our upstairs lounge.

They were very accommodating my tweaks to my eggs benedict (bacon instead of Canadian bacon, sliced tomatoes instead of other sides. It came with tons of bacon, eggs were done perfectly and the hollendaise was top notch. The problem? The english muffin was burnt and that permeated the entire rest of the dish. I should have sent them back, but didn't. My waitress and busboy were great.
Great location food good but sides were overpriced even for NYC. Steaks were delicious but had been sitting before we got them so not as hot as I would have expected
One of best dining experiences in NYC:
Food and Service.
We were visiting NYC and decided to try The Wayfarer because it was close to our hotel. The food was delicious and the service was superb. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed a quiet Sunday dinner with a bottle of white Burgundy and Long Island raw Oysters, a Sushi rool andthe oven baked chicken wings. Great service, will be back.
Great place to eat... Huge wine selection.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the Wayfarer. We walked in and there were very few tables taken so I was a little skeptical but they filled in quickly and the food and service was excellent. I will be back.
Holiday weekend so quiet. Server and goat very nice, just not what we were looking for Friday night.
We eat here regularly. The food is always delicious, beautifully presented, very varied menu. We joked last night that if the place is jam packed, the service stinks, and if the place is three quarters empty, the service stinks. This is not anything to do with the wait staff, which is always very nice. It appears to be all the fault of the kitchen, which is very slow, always. So if you’re time constrained this is not the place for you. Otherwise, I’ve never had a bad meal here.
Service was very slow and inattentive for breakfast on a quiet day. There were only a handful of occupied tables. The food was adequate, bread was nothing special, inattentive service--it took a long time to get the bill.
Lovely Sunday brunch menu. Good selection, reasonable prices, great service.
I've been here before and had no issues. This service today for some reason was very off. We were first greeted by a waitress who didn't seem like she wanted to serve us. Then we had a different waiter, who took our order and seemed to want to help us. After we got our food we never saw a waiter again unless we were looking for them for water and refill on drinks
Food was good. Service was very slow.
The food was real yummy! We had the Lobster Club, Sushi and the Salmon. Since we were celebrating a birthday we indulged in 2 desserts. Both my hubby and I ordered coffee, but it never came. The waiter apologized it was never brought to us, and the manager came over as well and comped our desserts. We were totally surprised at their gesture as it was a minimal oversight. We were very impressed to say the least. Atmosphere was real nice, enjoyed dining by the open air windows. We definitely came at a good time (8:30 Saturday) as it was getting very lively shortly there after in the bar area.
Very good breakfast. Just great food and service too!
Food was the best! Service on point
Went for a business breakfast. The food was very good but nothing exceptional, and the service was a bit slow. The ambiance was great, and we were able to have a conversing without yelling above a din. I would go back because the food was good and three ligation is terrific but the cost was kind of absurd... Over $100 for breakfast for three!
Hot summer day=cool salads. My friend ordered the Greek salad that was inedible. Our very nice waiter substituted the Chinese chicken salad. It was a much better choice and salad was a very large portion.
Noise level was very loud. overall, good for a quick lunch.
The meal was excellent, cooked to perfection. Octopus was moist an not chewy
Diver scallops wonderful. Slow service, not much staff. An employee was doing work at the table next to us. He could have found somewhere else
Great location to have a reunion with college friends. We loved it!
The you, as always, for an amazing time. Staff is amazing, sushi is better than ANY “sushi spot” in manhattan, and the ambiance is on point!
We ate early on a Friday evening in a beautiful corner booth with an open view of the street. The food and ambience were excellent. Just what we were looking for. We will return.
Had to make separate reservations online because our party was actually 8. The hostess was eager and helpful to accommodate our table and seat us all together. Our server was quick, efficient, and attentive.
Great service, but very limited non-starchy side options. Steak was very overcooked.
Great food and service! The environment was very nice too!
Celebrating Father’s Day with family
Service was slow, waitress was hard to find
Manager came to help
Food was very good
Perfect day for brunch at The Wayfarer, very nice atmosphere! They had large windows open & breeze was blowing. Food was tasty, nothing spectacular but good. Service was well timed.
The food was very average at best. Sent back tortilla chips because they were stale. We got fresh ones later. The salads we ordered were drenched in dressing and the tomatoes (proffered as heirlooms) were soggy and mealy. We sent those back. We ended up ordering sushi which was nothing special for a restaurant that purports to be a seafood restaurant. The grilled octopus was chewy and tasteless. I was very disappointed.
One of my favorite places for brunch, lunch or dinner. Food is amazing, staff are always pleasant.
Amazing food and service
Always have to visit this place when I’m in NYC. Great food, better drinks
Very good seafood, convenient location, pleasant atmosphere
Nice place. Good food. Attentive but not overbearing waitstaff and front of the house management.
Visited the Wayfarer while in town for my 25th birthday. The interior is very modern and well-styled. Our booth was cozy and comfortable. All of our cocktails from the bar were yummy and well balanced. The server was pleasant and efficient, not necessarily warm but not intrusive which I actually prefer. All of us throughly enjoyed our food. The surf and turf sushi appetizer is phenomenal. I had the filet with a side of the glazed carrots and, honestly, the carrots might have been my favorite part of the meal. I know that sounds silly, but those were the best carrots I've ever had. We were treated to complementary warm cookies at the end of the meal and they were delicious. Overall great experience and meal.
Food was tasty. Our server was awful. He was not friendly at all and didn’t take our order for over 40 minutes after we had been seated. We had to go find a manager to get him to come and take our food order. When he came to the table he never apologized for the wait or acknowledged the wait. We then had to ask for water and drink refills 4 to 5 times before receiving them.
We all agreed the sushi was very good and the entrees were tasty. Restaurant decor was very nice and I would have come back if it wasn’t for the service. Unfortunately everyone else around us had the same issues and I should have taken the reviews more seriously about the slow service before making a reservation.
Tried Wayfarer because it had decent reviews and it is close to where we will be living. The food was excellent. No complaints from our party of 6. The service was weird. Not bad or inattentive, they just made mistakes. One person asked for no tomatoes, they left the tomatoes. One person never got their sushi roll appetizer. Two of us ordered a dozen oysters each, mixed east and west coast. They came all the same. Later we were told they were out of the east coast. That said, they brought the sushi roll out later and didn't charge for it, they comped one of the dozen oysters, and they gave us dessert for free. So overall, they handled things well. I would absolutely go back.
Food was very good and a very comfortable setting. Our particular server was not very attentive at all.
I will preface this review that after complaining, the manager helped turn our experience around:
We had a 9 pm reservation and it turned out that one was not needed as it was pretty quiet in there. We ordered oysters and a couple of entrees. The server was very pleasant and it all started off well. Then a runner came by with a big tray of food. He then proceeded to take a couple of dishes at a time and run it around the rest of the restaurant so the rest of the food was sitting and cooling for at least 5-10 minutes. A burger and fries was left for at least 20 - 30 minutes.
After at least a 40 min wait, two entrees were put on our table but no oysters. The truffle fries ( not hand cut like we had ordered), were set out and were stone cold. We objected and then were told that that was not our food. The oysters eventually came out with two dirty plates.
At this point we asked to see the manager to point out why we were unhappy and skeptical about where our entrees actually were and to make sure they were prepared fresh and were not sitting on a tray somewhere.
I think our entrees eventually came out after about an hour but the manager sent extra food and comped an item with sincere apologies.
The food tasted good but the restaurant was poorly managed in terms of standards. Don’t even get me started on the state of the bathrooms...
The restaurant had been recommended and is part of the Hilton Club partners so we were honestly surprised by the terrible service. Hopefully it was just a one off, bad night.
Server wasn’t very attentive and only became so after manager came over to ask how everything was
The service was a bit slow but friendly. Also, it was pouring out but they had all the windows open. Freezing. Food very goos.
