The food is very good, the service was great, a nice place to go that is off the path of the boardwalk. The Claridge Hotel has a lot of history to it although the elevators are very slow. There seems to be enough of them but they don't seem to all work. The view is nice, if you are seated by a window you can see the ocean. A nice place to go with good food at a reasonable price in Atlantic City. There is also a great indoor/outdoor bar upstairs called the Vue which is a fun place to begin or end your night.
We enjoyed the atmosphere but the food itself was just ok. Both our dishes came with pasta and that was so oversauced that we left it on our plate. At the end of the meal we asked for expresso and they told us that their machine was broken. Disappointed in that.
Where do I begin? This is a place to skip! Upon our arrival there was no one to greet us and the restaurant was empty, we were seated shortly we quickly noticed the restaurant could use a good cleaning. shortly there after another couple was seated near us and we had to listen to him burp all evening. The waitress was cordial and friendly, the fried calamari was adequate, The sauce on the ravioli tasted like Chef Boyardee, The veal chop was tender Though I had to send it back because it was undercooked, when they brought it out the second time it was tasty and tender but they drowned it in some brown sauce with an excess of mushrooms which was unpalatable! This restaurant was probably special in its heyday, but that was long ago it needs help!
Reviews were pretty good so we thought we would try.
Octopus was terrible, like rubber, chicken Franchise was in a thick cream sauce, had to send back. They did not remove from check. Tip was automatically added on a table of 4? Waitress was sweet , but did not understand English so made it tough to order a simple club soda! Did not live up to review hype.
HIDDEN GEM!! If your looking for an authentic Italian experience in a place with history this is the place! Food and service was fantastic
My meal was excellent! I ordered the Frutti di Mare Marco Polo. The cannolis were also yummy.
We enjoyed our meal in a nice quiet location. Views of the ocean from our table. Good sized positions and the chicken Marsala was tasty and prepared well. The pasta bolognese was delicious and meatballs were huge and delicious. The service was great too a nice off the boardwalk dinner during our vacation.
Food was great! We also liked that the staff was baby-friendly.
Excellent food, service along with a fabulous view
The Walnut Salad my husband order was absolutely delicious and when I tasted it he was forced to share!
The Spaghetti and Meatballs my husband had were fair and the Chicken Francese I ordered was awful!
The restaurant looked like you stepped into a time capsule and was adorable!
Service was excellent!
We went here for my moms birthday on a whim because everywhere else was booked. I went into it concerned and knew it could have went either way. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing and ambiance was perfect. We even had a window next to our table to see the ocean. Couldn’t ask for anything more. The service was definitely lacking. I’m their defense there appeared to be only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant. But I would def go back for sure.
We like it
Thank you so much for the 5 star review. We are thrilled that you like the restaurant. We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you again soon. Thanks again.
Service and ambience fine, unfortunately 3 of our meals were not palatable due to overcooked pasta
It was wonderful. Food was a tad bit overpriced for what it was, but nonetheless it was delicious
Came here because everywhere was already booked. Food was okay. Some of the menu was misleading and my friend who does not eat red sauce got an item with red sauce. Our server Jose was not attentive at all. Do not come here if you want to be able to split a check. Also I came as a group of 4 and 15% tip was already added to our tab. Overall would not come here again.
I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. Everything was perfect and the value of food was everything for me. The food was delicious including the wine. Lol. I will be visiting this restaurant again when I return back to Atlantic City.
Unfortunately, although I wanted to love this place so much, I couldn’t. It has been there since the 1920’s and has a beautiful bar. It has so much potential! After the 4 of us walked in as they opened at 5, everything went down hill. It took forever to get drinks although the restaurant was still empty, the food was so bad, we left full dishes with no response from our server. Even the marinara sauce tasted so weird, how do you ruin that? The floor was so dirty and had obviously not been vacuumed in a very long time. Someone, please purchase this place and turn it into a showcase!
They were very short handed as is everyone else these days but we had Susan and she was amazing. Will def go back.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. We are excited that you found Susan amazing and that you will definitely be coming back. We also wanted to thank you for your understanding and patience knowing that everyone these days is short handed. We are just trying to do our best. We appreciate your continued patronage and look forward to seeing you again.
I literally went to this place because the other nice restaurants were close. This place is overpriced and horrible. Wouldn’t recommend at all.
Love the new menu!!! Portion size is huge!!! Great dining experience!
Thank you so much for the great review. We are thrilled that you love the new menu and that you found the portions to be huge and that your dining experience was so great. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon. Thanks again.
Server was friendly & well informed. Octopus was way too overcooked. Apps took more than 30min to come out. Overall it was an okay experience but I will not return.
Please accept our sincerest apologies, as we are definitely striving to provide a much better experience than the one you described. I have sent your comments to our Chef and Food & Beverage management team to immediately address any delays in service and to ensure all of our dishes are prepared and presented perfectly. We appreciate your feedback and hope that you may give us another opportunity to serve you. Thanks again.
The food and drinks were delicious and service was great. The cleanliness of the room was not so good. We sat next to the window which had a nice view but was filthy. The rug needed to be vacuumed. The uniforms need to be more formal. Again…the food and drinks were wonderful so we would go back but most people would not give it another chance. The bar area is beautiful and the room has a lot of potential but no atmosphere right now. I hope it improves but again we would go back because the food and drinks were that good! !!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food and some of the best service in Atlantic City!
Place is was empty ! I had the Veal it was burnt . The soup, salad and appetizers came all at once .
Chicken parm was burnt. The steak was hard. Everything was very oily. The waiter never came to check on us.
The steak was the best we have EVER had!! The service and ambience was just perfect too.
ReginaK, Thank you so much for the great review. We are so excited to hear that your steak was the best you EVER had, and that you found the service and ambiance perfect as well. We appreciate your patronage, and look forward to seeing you soon. Thanks again.
Very underrated restaurant. Great service, food, and atmosphere. It is an unknown gem and has a lot of history. Great value on the high quality food. Elsewhere, the same food would sell be almost 2x as much on their menu.
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We are so happy to hear that you had such great food and service. We really appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks again.
Open table reservation not asked for so my note for my husband's birthday was not read..
Excellent food and best extra dirty martinis! Loved the nostalgic feel of the restaurant. Service was friendly and top-notch. Definitely will go back
Marianne, Thank you so much for the fantastic review. We are thrilled that you liked everything and had such a great experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the Claridge Hotel and the Twenties Italian Bistro. Thanks again.
Some of the food was a little too salty. But my dish was tasty. I did not like that if i wanted vegtables or pasta you had to order ala cart from the sides menu especially for those prices. It was empty except for us and two other couples. (off season and COVID) Service was good except for when i asked if there were any specials and the waiter looked at me like i said something wrong.
All in all it wasn't a bad meal.
The service was good but it took at least 45 min. to get our entrees. The menu was small and everything seemed to come with red hot chili peppers. It's ok on some dishes, but fresh cooked carrots and asparagus didn't need it. If you are looking for a leisurely meal, I would recommend this restaurant. On the other hand, the Vue bar was expensive but you could not beat the view!
Great food at a reasonable price. Friendly wait staff.
Excellent food and beautiful ocean view thru window next to table for two. Celebrated home inspection of condo we are purchasing in Atlantic City. So nice to eat at restaurant not in a hotel casino. The Claridge is an old grand dame.
Went to dinner for my boyfriend birthday. The food was delicious but, the service could have been better.
We celebrated my partner's 83rd birthday and we were happy with the service and the food. The veal chops were cooked perfectly and the mushroom sauce was very good.
Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write the review. We are so happy that you chose us for your partner's 83rd birthday, and very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food and service. The Veal Chop is one of my favorites too. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon. Thanks again.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet relaxing dinner with excellent service, food and bar with an ocean view. The restaurant is in the historic Claridge Hotel so you have an old fashioned elegance combined with a casual, comfortable ambiance.
All in all, a pleasant evening. I got a wine glass that was almost spilling it was so full. I appreciated that! Food was excellent. Seating was well spaced. The only thing was we never got our appetizer. We did get delicious bread sticks that held us off till our entrees came out though, and the staff was super nice and didn’t charge us for the appetizer that never came out. Still a great time out!
Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write the review. We are thrilled to hear that you had such a pleasant evening, and please accept our apologies for the missing appetizer. We will be looking into that so that never happens again. We appreciate your patronage and hope that you have the opportunity to join us again soon. Thanks again.
We arrived at 7:30 pm. Seated immediately as there was only one other table occupied and another at the bar. During dinner another party came, ate & departed. The ambiance was great. Apparently, due to COVID, no one else appeared to be arriving when we left about 9 pm. Ambiencewas beautiful. Food was average. My strip steak was tough (that happens) but, also faily thin cut. The drinks were generous and well-made. The waiter accommodated me by substituting a side of pasta (spaghetti) for the french fries. However, the meat sauce was a very dark red indicative of being very overcooked IMO. Similarly, my wife's meal was drenched in sauce as well as opposed to lightly coating the pasta and then, letting the customer add sauce as desired. Overall, the food was average and thus, disappointing. Certainly, if I were staying overnight at the Claridge or Bally's, the restaurant would be fine but, we are 30 minutes away and there are many other options.
Our server was super nice and knowledgeable , and the food was really good !
Our bartender was top notch! We sat at a high top next to the bar. Great music playing, Bobby Darin, Sinatra.
Food was pretty good, service was EXCELLENT!
Staceyp, Thank you for the fantastic review. We are so happy to hear that your bartender was top notch, and that you found the food to be good and the service excellent. We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks again.
