We were told that they were out of the appetizer we ordered after we waited a while for it. The server offered no other options or suggestions, nor did he give us a menu to look for options. I had the spicy black bean burger and the patty was charred and the burger was dry. The best part of the brunch was the drinks...a little overpriced but much better than the food.
We've been to the Turn House many times and have always enjoyed ourselves. This time around, we were seated outside on the patio. As usual, the food and service were outstanding. However, there was a large party next to us that was behaving badly, yet the Turn House staff did nothing to manage the situation. The group was ridiculously loud. They had screaming children that kept running around the tables of other diners. Members of this party kept getting up to smoke along the perimeter of the patio area, and at one point, one of the men smoked at the table. And, the topper: a woman at the table changed the diaper of one of the children while we were eating (the restrooms were within sight distance of our tables). This situation needed to be managed, yet the staff turned a blind eye to the chaos. It is making us rethink a return visit.
A delightful evening sitting outside under heaters enjoying the sun setting. We tried Kabocha Squash Bisque...delicious with new sweet flavors, followed by the apple and nut garden salad, and salmon for our main dish. Yum! Will be back soon.
Great restaurant, highly recommend!!!
First time dining here food was excellent , service very good
This is one of the best outdoor dining spots in the area. Most outdoor dining involves sitting in a parking lot, whereas here there is a lovely patio overlooking the golf course. Part of the patio is covered and part is in the sun with umbrellas. The ambiance was fantastic and so was the service. We ordered the brussell sprout appetizer and 2 salads and everything was cooked and seasoned well.
This was my first time dining here for a business lunch and I will definitely be back.
The server rushed us and seemed to be overworked.
Beautiful day to eat brunch outside! Good food, good service , good ambiance outside, we will return!
Service was ok maybe because we decided to sit outside was the reason why our wait took so long, we got seated with no water or or no menus the hostess was doing alot and could not keep up with all she was doing, but my food was pretty good my wife salmon was missing the mango sauce so the salmon had no type of flavor. I recommend if you can sit inside so you can seated faster
Great outdoor dining. Good wine and drink list. I wish the interior of the restaurant was a little more warm and inviting because I tend not to choose this place when I can't eat outside.
The Turn House has the BEST outdoor location in the area. Beautiful view of the golf course. The food was delicious...the Seasonal Greens salad was perfect for fall with a great combination of crisp apples and spiced pecans. The Bucatini Pasta was served steaming hot with large, moist shrimp. Yum!
Great view of the golf course when seated outdoors and service was good but the food lacked flavor and the menu seemed a bit small even for lunch. The value just wasn’t there and it wasn’t memorable enough to visit again.
Great food, great service! A new favorite. Outdoor seating was a nice option!
This was our first time at this restaurant. We came here at the last minute. We were looking for a different place to eat in Columbia. We based our choice on the ratings in Open Table. The ratings were accurate. We enjoyed our the outdoor dining, food and drinks. The service was very friendly.
The brussels sprouts appetizer was the best I’ve ever had. Also thoroughly enjoyed the short rib entree! And our waiter Pete was very attentive and friendly.
Understaffed, so service is slow and inconsistent- food is good - can’t beat the ambiance/ setting / location
Had an enjoyable lunch on a beautiful day with good food and pleasant staff! Good Work!
The server was knowledgeable regarding the menu, but he was not very attentive. The salmon was too salty and the beef short ribs was overdone on the outside. Considering it dish averaged in the price range of $30, it was not worth the bill we paid. I will not be going there again.
Meat was undercooked; another dish came to the table cold and under-flavored. Was dissappointed, since the outdoor ambiance is quite nice.
Lovely setting, delicious food, competent, friendly staff--working too hard because too short-staffed as is the case almost everywhere right now
Great place for brunch! Nice view on the golf course.
The food was amazing, and the view was beautiful. However, our server was not very attentive. We sat for a very long time without anyone checking on how we are doing.
We have become frequent patrons of the Tue House. The chef is fantastic and everything is delicious. Last night I had the beef bourguignon and it was awesome. The ambience outdoors right on the golf course is great. And the service is wonderful.
Prompt seating outside. Music was a bit loud and may not be to everyone’s taste. Food was good.
Waited 35 min at our table and still weren’t able to put in an order. Our waiter was busy attending the bar area and “forgot” about us.
I like farm to table restaurants so I thought I’d like Turn House more. It was just okay. The food was okay. Several items weren’t available like the lobster roll which I really wanted to try. I ordered the burrata and it didn’t have that creamy stracciatella-ness that I was hoping for. It was served with thick tomato wedges and basil drenched in balsamic vinaigrette on toasted sourdough bread that was a bit difficult to chew. I also ordered the brussels sprout salad. Also just okay - it was missing the dried cherries that were supposed to be in it. The service was okay. Our server was really nice but he was super busy due to not enough staff working that evening. The best part of the meal was dining outside. The golf course offered a very nice view. I’ll try this restaurant again but after the pandemic is truly over.
The website was way better than the actual dining experience. The hostess was friendly but check-in was interrupted by an incoming call. This was our first time dining here. We were disappointed. Our waters were not refilled. Our drinks went empty. It took a long time for the server to acknowledge us in the beginning. By the time we ordered, we found out that the black bean burger was out, for our vegetarian diner. When the salad was ordered, it was not topped with cheese, even though it was supposed to. By the time the cheese was brought out, the salad was already more than half eaten. The service was friendly, just not attentive. The server was also working at the bar, he could not see our table. The experience was basically not worth the price nor the website. Oh well. Pandemic times.
Food was just alright and service was very slow. One guest at my party had to return their eggs benedict to the kitchen because they were under. Staff was accommodating and did not push back.
The menu is limited but what they make, they make well! We had: oysters, fried brussel sprouts, crab dip for apps, and ceasar salad w/ salmon and half fried chicken for entrees.
The crab dip was creamy- not lumpy, so maybe just backfin meat. The oysters- delish, fried Brussels- delish, and crab dip- tasty! The fried chicken entree was mouth watering! Though not inexpensive, the food was overall great quality and DELICIOUS, and the outdoor setting is the best in town!
Treat my cousin who just moved to Columbia
Food and service was very good. Roberto our server and his trainee was attentive and helpful.
We go to The Turn House at least twice each month. Service and food are always top notch. Wonderfully fresh salads, great French fries, innovative entrées and a wonderful view when sitting at their rather expansive outdoor seating areas. We are very happy to have them in the neighborhood. And you really don’t want to miss the $1 oysters on Tuesday evenings!
We wanted a he fried chicken but it was sold out at 4:00PM!!
We took friends for brunch and while the menu looked good the execution was not on par with the price. We had the chicken wings as an appetizer and they were good but one of the drumettes was raw and bleeding near the bone. When I showed it to our server he was unconcerned and left the item on our bill…disappointing. My poached eggs were also undercooked and the root vegetable hash was over cooked. As we were hosting I didn’t do anything about the food issues, we enjoyed our company, paid the bill and left. We won’t be returning.
Outside tables and views are amazing. We had appetizers - tuna tartar lettuce wraps, Natty Boh mussels, and Cacio Pepe wings. All were delicious! Our server, Cindy was delightful. Very helpful with menu and wine selections. She made our evening memorable!
We love eating in the patio here. It has a great view, is typically cool, and just a really nice place. The food is unbelievably great. Exceptional menu with interesting options and one of the best burgers ever. One reason I gave 4stars this time is that the service is really slow. Not the first time. The poor guy got the order correct but had to serve many of the tables outside and bus them and set them. That really distracted from his service. If you are looking for exceptional food and ambiance and service isn’t up to that par, then the experience just isn’t worth the price. It is a pricey place. I also gave 4 stars because the fries that came with the burger we both ordered were just a small handful. For a $20 burger you expect a bit more than a small handful and on other occasions there were plenty. The other reason I gave 4 stars this time is that we wanted a beer flight but half of the available beers were out. We didn’t get the flight. And we weren’t the only ones trying to order some of the interesting beers. Usually this is a great place to go but they should fix the service on the patio.
Food was amazing. Service was great. Overall experience was a must go again!
Everything was terrific- sat outside and arrived early so we were pretty isolated for about an hour.
The beet salad, crab dip and burgers were excellent. We will return very soon!
We enjoyed our food very much. We had the veggie primivera with shrimp. the salmon dish and the steak with asparagus and potatoes. We all enjoyed our meals very much.
The service and food were all great. We were seated on the patio. The party at a table close to ours was too loud. We needed to speak up to hear each other. This was the only issue.
