The Tavern at The Beekman Arms
Always great at the tavern. Almost always, lunch time is much better. Food was thrown together as if they were not expecting anyone. Will be back for normal lunch.
The ambience is great, and the food is good but a little uninspired. They need to get more creative with their menu. The most creative thing available for brunch was quiche.
The food was good to above average. The server was good. The problem was the time to get our dinner - it seemed an extra long time, they came around and apologized.
Our table for four was in the tavern close to the bar. I booked it on line, stating that this was a birthday celebration. Would have preferred a different location because of the "energetic " bar crowd. The tavern is very quant and has a lot of history! Great for an evening at the bar but abit loud for a special occasion. As I stated in the survey everything else was good! Would definitely go back just to sit at the bar for cocktails!
We celebrated my birthday by having dinner at The Tavern. The food was delicious and the service was great. You really can’t beat the ambiance, it’s almost as if you’ve stepped back in time, so rustic and charming! Will definitely return again soon.
Thank you, we had a very pleasant meal. The service was attentive and courteous.
So I would recommend based on what you order. We had a mixed bag of results. A few of the dishes were quite good, while others were cold, and or no flavor.
It’s a very pretty place. The bar is cool. The inside is good . The food was excellent. We had a very pleasant time. Slightly slow but I think it was just because if being the day after Christmas
I really think the terrace room is far too bright. It actually hurt our eyes. People don’t look good in bright lights. It was like a room for surgery . It would make the ambience a 5 star if the lights were dimmed
We had a lovely time. Next time I’ll bring sunglasses at night
Our recent visit to the Tavern at Beekman Arms was a delight. We were there around the holidays, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were there for the lunch buffet. The prime rib at the carving station was delicious, and ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and gluten-free lentils , and anassortlent of gourmet desserts and salads were wonderful, too.
The atmosphere is bright, cozy, and reminiscent of early America.
With roaring fireplaces, some large beamed ceilings, and an early American sleigh in front of the Inn, Beekman Arms has the feeling of stepping back in history, to a simpler time.
One can easily imagine what it may have been like in the day of George Washington, who is said to have stayed at the Delamater Inn, adjacent to the Tavern.
A pleasant experience....Highly recommend!
Wonderful restaurant! Delicious food. It took forever for our food to come out, but it was worth the wait. Server was polite, but response was slow.
Although I have said I would not recommend this restaurant to friends, that is based on the mediocre food and service. Simply put, the food is dull and the service, though pleasant, was not very professional. Also, the servers were kind of sloppy in their appearance. Salmon burger was ok, beef burger was good, but the food is plated without any style. My side salad came without dressing.
All of this being said, the ambiance is this historic inn, with its wonderful lobby fireplace and dark paneled rooms makes for a very pleasant way to while away a winter's afternoon. Maybe just go but with no expectations about the food.
We were seated promptly. We ordered and waited for the delicious looking basket of bread to arrive as it had at the tables around us. Ours never did. The appetizers were lovely. Then our entrees came out and one was a totally different dish than was ordered. They took that away, and out of courtesy we all waited to eat. It was about another 10 -15 minutes before it came back ( rigatoni bolognese shouldn’t take long). Afterwards, dessert came out , but the coffee was luke warm. So we had to wait for them to make a new pot. Another oddly long wait. The waitress went off after bringing hot coffee, but had left no sugar/sweetener for the coffee. We informed her and then waited an oddly long time to get that too( 5 - 10 min) . It was too bad, because the service really detracted from some great food.
Always a great dining experience. Been coming here since the 1970’s.
Yes my only complaint was that the server never brought my moms tea. And the room we were in was very cold. Otherwise a lovely experience.
Annual dinner with daughters. As usual food was good. Loved the beet appetizer salad. Prime rib was done to perfection but cooked rather quickly. One daughter had the short ribs which are always delicious; other daughter had the stuffed shrimp which she totally finished. Completed the meal with dessert. One flourless chocolate torte and two coffee creme brûlée’s. Divine.
Excellent meal. Service was great. it was a very busy night. we had a great time and will definatley be back.
A yearly get together for 6 wonderful friends. The Tavern at The Beekman Arms OUTSTANDING! The 2 plus hours at lunch was memorable. Service was the best! We all agreed same time next year.HAPPY HOLIDAYS
My friends and I went to the Beekman Arms for a special holiday lunch. The menu was limited and nothing special. BLT? Turkey panini? (which was on toast). The soup was not heated through. Our waiter made our less than average experience slightly better by going above and beyond for us. He was a gem. However, once he left his shift, our dirty plates stayed in front of us for an hour until we left. I am a loyal patron and recommended it to my friends, but came away so disappointed and embarrassed.
We visited The Tavern for an anniversary lunch. The food and service were outstanding as usual.
Food was very good as was our waiter. However, room we were in was very cold
Good food, a historic site and a staff that appreciates it.
Food is excellent as usual and being that the restaurant is in a historical building makes the ambiance terriffic
Great experience. Fantastic food. Great Service. There was a wedding going on in a privet section and the main dinning area was energetic, so the hostess asked if we would like a quit area, and she did seat us in a section that was nice and quiet.
Lovely building and cozy interior. Compared to the ambience and the vibe, food was quite average. Portions were large, but the food lacked distinct taste.
Wonderful Wednesday night with a live musician in the bar.
Our salads were fresh tasting local greens with a delightful vinaigrette.
It was burger night so we tried those instead of the regular menu. The burgers were nice and juicy with terrific accompaniments of mushrooms, bacon, etc.
A couple good local beers on tap.
A very special dinner
Everything was perfect!
Our lunch was disturbed by the table next to us. The noise level coming from it made it impossible to speak in a normal tone of voice. I have a suspicion that the tables have been moved closer together in order to increase seating capacity and that works fine as long as you're not next to a large group of loud people which is what happened to us on Friday.
Our first time here and we have no complaints. The food was excellent (brunch) and so was the service. Our waiter actually helped us with our choices. And definitely walk through the rooms to see how quaint the tavern is! Would go back.
We had a wonderful time
ANDREW was wonderful
My chicken could have been cooked a little more but I was already full so I did not eat the leg
Did not want that to ruin our night
Our dinner at the Tavern was excellent, food was perfect, service even better, made reservation for 730, seated at 735, no complaints here, i live in the area and will deffinately be returning soon, excellent dining experience
We love your restaurant! Our meals were delicious and our server, David is always a blast..
Food and service batter than expected on a very busy evening.
Excellent service - lovely server named Danny. She was outstanding! Great food especially the onion soup. Highly recommend.
The hostess was very brusque. Although there were multiple empty tables when we arrived and when we left, we were told that they were not available. I found her most unpleasant.
Enjoyable evening. Service not up to par for a restaurant like Beekman. Older woman at front desk acted very “put out” when we asked for a different table rather than first one she took us to.
The staff seemed really frenzied. We were seated in the bar area even though I specified that we were dining for a special occasion. The table next to us didn’t like any of their food, and though we liked our food, the poor service colored our experience.
They appeared to be inundated at the inn tonight . When we arrived they seemed less than pleased to see us and said it would be a while til our table was ready . We ended up dining in the bar area - although I didn’t see much difference between the ambiance in the bar and in the main dining areas
My lamb chops and my husbands prime rib were definitely sub prime - too chewy
They ran out of the popovers that came with the prime rib . We were told it only came with spinach so we ordered a twice baked potato . The servers had no idea who ordered what and what table it was to go to. When a manager asked how we liked our meals we told her quietly and she offered to take them off the bill . We were charged 1/2 price and the potato remained . Not a good night for Beekman or for us I’m afraid
Visited the Beekman arms for dinner this past weekend. We had a reservation and arrived slightly ahead of our reserved time. The hostess uttered not one welcoming comment or smile. We were seated in a smaller dining room which was very nice as it was quieter with ample room between tables.
Our drink order and appetizers were delivered promptly HOWEVER, we waited nearly 45 minutes for our entrees to be served. The restaurant was busy but 45 minutes in between courses is ABSURD!!
The waiter advised the kitchen had 200 tickets to fill. I am assuming then that the kitchen cannot adequately deliver acceptable service when the restaurant is really busy !
We watched as a nearby couple grew tired of waiting for their food and got up to leave. The waiter appeared with their dinners in hand asking them to stay - with NO charge for their meal. They declined and left. I was tempted to follow suit but did not want to find another restaurant at that point. When our food finally did arrive, it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
We did not stay for desert, fearing another unacceptable wait. We went to a nearby restaurant for coffee and dessert.
I will give this place another shot as I feel the food is well worth a second chance. I am hoping the waiter is right when he told us the food generally does not take that long.
PS. The meet and greet person should present herself as somewhat welcoming. Her behavior was awkward.
Service is always great. We were thrilled that I’m a Saturday night, they went to great lengths to rearrange the seating chart to give us a table in the wine cellar and then let us keep the table three hours with our friends without prodding to get us out of the way. Food was wonderful.
