We pride our self on being accessible, whilst dishes on the main menu can cost from £14.00 to £20.00, there's a delicious take on pub classics that cost around the £10.00 mark, packed with drinkers and eaters alike.
Up in the Restaurant there is a more subtle affair, serving plates of food designed to reflect the wonderful local produce. We aim to combine the traditional local pub with a a top-notch dining destination. A melting pot of local’s who want to avoid the chore of cooking, alongside those looking to have a blow out meal celebrating all sorts of events.
Most importantly dogs & muddy boots welcome!

First Visit was Christmas Eve - what a way to start Christmas.
Fabulous food, friendly staff and a great cosy atmosphere.
It won’t be the last visit - that’s for sure.
Thank you so much
Lovely meal on Christmas Eve with the family. Food was gorgeous, and generous servings too.
All very Covid-secure, no issues there.
Good ambiance - liked the log fires in every room. Would like to come back again one day when we’re in the area.
Delicious food from a wide choice from the menu. Local draft ales. Cosy open fire. Highly recommended.
Food was very good, service with a smile very friendly only one faulty very cold day and we were first in maybe put fires on early to alloy place to warm up .
Would come again
Excellent food and value for money. Service is first class also. Dogs welcome too!
Lovely to be back at this great which has taken great care with its COVID precautions. Food lovely. Fire roaring. View outstanding. Staff lovely.
Amazing service and gorgeous food
Friendly warm welcome. Covid safe.
Stunning food. Cosy, characterful gastro pub. We went with 2 young boys and it was perfect! Child friendly, dog friendly. Best table tip - ask for the one in the bar by the fire.
Very friendly little pub, beautiful inside. We really enjoyed our visit.
Very very poor customer service and experience. Would recommend this pub to anyone.
Food was lovely, apart from ran out of mash, greens and puddings and was middle of afternoon.
Must admit I enjoyed the food more the last time I went.
Service was a bit slow after mains came,I know it’s hard with table service now and social distancing , but tidied table next to us and never asked us if we wanted a pudding or another drink, even though we’d finished, in end we asked a member of staff
Very good.
Nice food
Great service
Lovely old fashioned pub
Great scenery
Open fire.
Great pub to visit
Amazing everytime !! Staff are lovely and alway happy to help
Very tasty food in nice atmosphere. Very helpful staff
Great pub in a beautiful setting. Good go as it busy although everyone was well spaced.
What a fantastic location next to Kirkham Priory, Wolds, beautiful river and good reviews.
Unfortunately our visit was awful; could my wife cook better?.. definitely
I actually think I could... white frozen baguette, very little balsamic in the oil dip, minute fish cakes, bought-in pie, under-cooked single carrot, watery gravy as there was obviously no actual fresh meat in the kitchen, frozen chips with fried chicken plus poor greenslaw.
We did complain and received an apology... foolishly paid full bill caught off guard when no reduction was offered.
Overall day spoilt by this recommended pub(God knows why).
As my wife said would the owners have been happy with a meal like? I dread to think what their reply would be.
Take my advice give up and let someone else more deserving run it.
It could and should be a showpiece pub in the area. Why didn't we just go to Westoe or Burythorpe instead.
My
Very good service and very nice food. I would definitely go back
Lovely pub in a stunning location. Food was delicious, and an interesting menu.
Ideal spot for a walk in the country.
Enjoyed. Great service. Ran out of Yorkshire puddings
A lovely pub. Great food and service. We would certainly return.
Lovely pub. Bags of character. Highly recommended.
Lovely staff, specials on the menu really good. Very good process in place for care of visitors and staff and all within a really lovely pub in a beautiful setting.
Lovely pub and good food. Wasn’t a problem arriving late due to traffic delays ( we were travelling some distance). Excellent Covid measures.
Would only suggest specific directions on the website as for non locals it was a little challenging to find based on the address on the website!
Love the place. Food is amazing and service impeccable.
Traditional stone built inn within 200 metres of Kirkham Abbey. Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Varied menu. Good variety of gins if you are into that sort of thing, some of which are produced locally.
Very good service and a nice team. Limited vegetarian choice but was all nice food. Beautiful location and convenient after a good walk. COVID19 restrictions managed very well
Would benefit from a larger selection of veggie food but the food I had was delicious
We booked online on the drive home from a trip to the coast. What a beautiful setting with a lovely view. The staff were extremely helpful and prompt. We sat outside for a drink then moved inside for food. A very cosy, dog friendly pub and the food was tremendous. Definitely the best pub fish and chips I have ever had - so delicious. My boyfriend had the fried chicken in a basket which was piping hot and very good! We will be back.
Amazing venue and food as usual, brilliant even with all Covid restrictions. Well done to all at Stone Trough, we will be back soon
The menu on the website is very different from the actual menu. Very limited with burgers mainly and no fresh fish or meat dishes other than steak. The time waiting outside was extended even though we had booked and were the only ones waiting. The time to order drinks and food was about 30 min wait. The dining room was very flat and others complained about the dining room.
Very disappointing overall.
In these difficult times , we found ;Well organised , plenty of staff ( all wearing masks ) who were efficient & friendly , the food was well cooked & presented . Well done !
An excellent venue with lovely food and a nice blond pint!
Lovely meal at the Stone Trough... staff were brilliant. All wearing masks, the toilets were spotless, the food lovely. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely atmosphere in this pub/restaurant. The food is great and the staff are very attentive and so friendly. Will definitely be going back!
Disappointed that Sunday lunch was sold out , although our table wasn't booked until 6pm . Food was lovely and service was excellent given it was 1st weekend back after lockdown . We will be back! We always recommend it to customers who stay with us on Jamie's Cragg
The Sunday lunch had finished early so we had to choose from the main menu and the portions were tiny and not good!
Great food, fantastic service great place, good value,10 out of 10,I am a regular so it wasn’t a one off, just hope people support this great place, in the current climate
Lovely hot car very one of my favourite places for Sunday lunch
Never fails to deliver. Great staff, great food sometimes not everything is the menu but there is enough choice to work round that
Recieved a voucher through the malton Gazette, booked a table easily. Warm welcome by staff, from start to finish. Great food value for money
Would definitely dine here again
