Delicious food and lovely location, very polite waitstaff but service to get drinks was slow and they forgot simple orders like tea (at High Tea!)., and had to request more than one tiny pot of jam between four of us, Very noisy but nice rooms

My first time there... it’s packed and way too loud. Food was great, one of the waitresses dropped my colleague’s meal and had to choose another item in the menu (you would think they’ll give her free meal tho).
However, won’t mind going back.

Lovely atmosphere, nice menu, great staff but at 11.30am they had run out of both chicken, cheese in a specific menu item and smoked salmon which was in about 5 of the choices!!!

We were a table for 5 and everyone had to change their minds as there was no chicken or smoked salmon or cheese!

Very slow service, nothing outstanding. Staff were very polite
They ran out of
Cold brew and instead provided espresso in coffee cups with ice .... should have come in a long glass.
Overall disappointing

We went for a meal on Boxing Day with a prior online booking for high tea. However, we were told when we arrived that there has been an issue as we did not specify that we intended to book for high tea. As we shown the manager the web page that we have booked which was actually the same page as the high tea menu, he was not sorry at all. Instead he focused on explaining where our mistake in making the booking were repeatedly. Then he just simply said that there was nothing he could do further. He can only offer normal brunch menu or we can leave and come back another day. At no point did he offer to do anything at all or to make us feel that he wanted us there. It felt like he wanted us to leave and in fact, it seemed like he didn’t want to be there working on the public holiday himself.

We ended up just ordering from the normal menu as we didn’t have much choice. It is a shame as the food was good in terms of quality and value as well as it is a nice establishment. However, if the manager’s attitude and service was this poor and rude, how much better can other team members be?! I am sorry to say that we will never be back again unless we know certain steps have been taken. I won’t risks taking my wife back there again and to have her being disappointed and offended. We are customers and as such I do not think it is too much to ask to be treated at least with some basic courtesy.

We dined for lunch. Our waiters were lovely and very helpful. Food was delicious and coffees hit the spot. Had a tour of Como House afterwards which was fabulous. Thanks to Ree our very informative tour guide. Thankyou. Will visit again.

As a group of 5-6 we’ve been going to the Stables now at least twice a year for probably 8-9 years. Initially it was fabulous, fun, buzzing and the food was interesting. And good parking which is important. Over the past 2-3 years it’s changed, the food menu is the same as was this time last year (and I think the year before) with the exception of the pie. We had to call for waiter service, no drinks menu on our table, eventually 1 menu was brought but at the same time food orders were being taken so no time to peruse the menu and didn’t want to lose our spot in the system! Was around 12.50 by now. But, no juices were available, all sold out, it was coconut water or alcohol. My food was nice but certainly not exceptional. One of my guests likened the cafe to Coles Cafeteria. Some of us do eat at the Stables apart from the group situation and it’s disappointing to arrive and find the very same menu over and over.
The staff were all very pleasant, I know it was busy but to have such a perfect venue it’s a shame not to upgrade the choice of food and drinks. Or at least have enough to fill orders.
Thanks

The web page provide a far more favourable description than what we experienced.

Ordered the Reuben sandwich. One piddly slice of pastrami across is all it came with...for $16.

A Reuben sandwich should have a minimum of six slices of pastrami. It honestly tasted like a cheese sandwich and clearly the Stables are skimping on protein because that can only be described as poor.

We went to the Stables Cafe for family brunch at 10.30 having received a voucher from a less than satisfactory Mothers Day experience. Unfortunately the experience wasn't great. We sat down inside - the noise level was such that you really couldn't hear anyone other than the person immediately next to you. We ordered drinks, were given the menus, and once the staff got around to taking our orders we were told that half the provided menu was unavailable as it was ''too early''. 45 mins after we ordered, just as our meals were eventually about to be delivered we were advised by a waiter that there was no gluten free bread available for two of our party. Literally 30 sec later we were delivered eggs & bacon on gluten free bread, or so we were advised by another waiter. It clearly wasn't gluten free bread. 2 of our table were asked if they wanted more coffees, and when they said yes the coffees never arrived. By the time we received our meals, most other customers were getting food from the menu we were unable to order from because it was too early. The Allpress coffee is good, the food wasn't too bad, but the overall experience was a shambles.

Service was not so good.
We had to get the attention of staff to order drinks.
Food took 1h15min to arrive after ordering, and steak come very well done (ordered medium rare).

The stables at Como is a delightful and quite unique venue. The decor is lovely and the setting at Como adds to the appeal. The food was well presented and delicious. Table service also very good.
Perfect place to take guests who are visiting Melbourne.

The food was very disappointing (we had lunch). There were no specials available (e.g. soup of the day and pie of the day - we were told they didn't have any). The charcuterie platter didn't come with everything on the menu so we had to ask for the terrine which was then bought on a plate. The platter had way too much meat on it and not much else. The fries were good. I've been here before for breakfast and it was great so maybe that's the best time to visit.

Casual and cosy setting, enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich and Ginger Bellini. Does get quite busy so anticipate a wait, not an issue if you’re up for a long lunch.
