    Join us for our sumptuous three-course Christmas Day set menu featuring a glass of champagne on arrival and beautifully inventive dishes like grilled Argentinian shell-on red shrimp with chimicurri butter, pan-roasted hake and Gressingham British duck breast whilst giving the classic turkey & traditional trimmings the respect they deserve.     Booked a table for Sunday lunch, solo diner. Made me feel very welcome. Great service. Lovely roast beef,, with lots of vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding was good with Guinness and chocolate ice cream, complemented very well. I will definitely go back.

    Jo and the team are fantastic. I take my elderly mother regularly for lunch and they always look after her. The pub is in a pretty location and has one of the best views. I guarantee you will be well looked after and will eat well!

    Sunday lunch with family and small dog. Our reserved table was a good size for group of 7. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Food was well presented, tasty and generous in portion. Four of us had a roast dinner, two had fish and chips and birthday boy a burger. Visit The Squirrel three to four times a year. Same great experience. Thank you

    Lamb was badly cooked - served raw and fat hadn't been rendered down - I would expect more if you're charging £29 for the dish! Staff were rude. Lack of atmosphere. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend.

    Thank you so much for your review. I would like to respond also to your feedback, the Lamb was cooked Medium Rare as meant to be, probed and the correct temperature as we do with all our food, I appreciate that it wasn't cooked to your satisfaction, I am told this was taken back to the kitchen to be placed into the oven longer for you & when brought back to yourself you said "perfect". The "fat cap" as it is known is attached to the top of the lamb so this gives the flavour to the rack, the meat was perfectly cooked. You asked for a discount when asking for your bill, but at no point did you say anything more about the food when the plates were collected. The ambience was quiet due to you being the only ones in the restaurant. We gave you £5 off the bill as a gesture of goodwill.

    We ended up sitting outside as it was a beautiful day! This was our second visit, the first time we had only stopped by for a drink with our dog after going for a walk nearby. They are so good with dogs, offering treats, water bowls and a roast dinner or ice cream too. Sitting outside was nice, it would have been better if there were parasols to shade all of the tables, we sat in an area that was partially shaded luckily. The food was nice, meat a little gristly, but lovely veg and potatoes, not sure about the horse radish stuff, all I could taste was the gravy (which was lovely) it had a consistency of melted mozzarella, I’ve never had before so not sure if that’s what it was meant to be like as it was detailed as horse radish cream! The best part was the apple crumble tart and ice cream. The crumble was crunchy and base too, so it hadn’t been microwaved which was a nice surprise. Staff were all lovely, it seems they do a lot to attract customers which is lovely and they seem to have a good relationship with the locals. We will definitely come back. Thank you
