It was a very hot night so it was nice to have the option to sit inside in the air conditioning. The waitress was very helpful as were all the staff and we were not kept waiting for our food. All the food we ordered was excellent. The wine list was not too long and had a lot of local wines to choose from. Thanks for a lovely night out.
I am a frequent customer and am never disappointed. Do yourself a favour and book a table and enjoy.

42 degree day , aircon not working !
For the gnocchi I ordered I thought it was very expensive .. should be a price variance so all can enjoy dining out ..

The waitress was very good and kept seeing if we wanted anything else. I had the steak which was cooked exactly how i;d asked for it.
The only problem was the air conditioning wasn't working very well (on a 40C day) so it was quite warm in the dining area.

The service, food, drinks were very nice. Would have liked a larger desert menu and a lower price tag but overall was a very good experience.

Lovely location and pleasant day for a lunch 12-2pm. Sat in the main restaurant area (standard seating option) with the folding doors open - not too hot and slight breeze made it very pleasant. Good drinks options. Food good, though sides options (salad) a bit limited. Very enjoyable. Sparking water was over priced which was a bit disappointing (only sparkling option was Voss bottles) - most venues providing various options for sparkling (as for still water) these days. Service was good but primarily because the restaurant/outdoors/bar at that time was 30-50% full and appeared it was gradually getting busier into afternoon.

First restaurant I have been to that would not grill the fish then when paying the account was advise All credit cards had a surcharge the only other payment was cash. First restaurant that charged for Master Card. Not the money just was not advised prior to going to the restaurant to ensure I had enough cash.
Hi Tony, I appreciate you taking the time to review The Royal. I have discussed this with our Head Chef, who has the grilled barramundi on the menu for those who want grilled fish. He has advised the whiting in the fish & chips is not ideal for grilling but is perfect for beer batter. As for the surcharge we have this at all our venues and this is also written on the menus. A little disappointing overall - not as good as it used to be under the old management. Menu choices are far more limited, and many things were "sold out". How a restaurant can "sell out" of affogato is a little unusual, as well as selling out of cocktails. The chicken parmi came out burnt around the edges, the arancini balls (marketed as "ham hock and pea on a mint pea base") were small, dry and overcooked, with no presentation whatsoever other than some cress thrown in a heap on the top. No ham hock to be tasted, just rice rice and more rice with a few odd peas in it, and no mint peas to be seen anywhere. Some raw beans in a bitter mint dressing under the 4 small arancini was the closest it came - they hadn't even been blanched so tasted pretty ordinary. The roasted cauliflower was nice, but too big a serving for one. And it was boiled cauliflower that had been boiled and then only thrown under the grill for a few minutes - enough to burn the edges so it appeared roasted. I'd dial back the size somewhat and drop the price. Service was OK, but very understaffed - probably due to hard to get bar staff because of COVID but still, if you've not got the staff don't take the bookings you can't service. As mentioned, affogatos had "sold out" mysteriously, so we were forced to have sticky date pudding, which was too large a serve and quite dry with not many dates in it more just a cake with a few pieces of date scattered through it and a caramel sauce that was pretty reasonable but no cream just a scoop of ordinary icecream. Overall disappointing considering the standard it used to have under the old owners. Skimping on the more expensive ingredients in a dish presumably to save money just leaves diners with a sad experience - I'd pump up the ingredients and make the descriptions of the dish actually match what comes out rather than skimp and leave diners disappointed. An excellent venue for drinks in the afternoon on the waterfront, but not a meal.

Ambience great as ever, food was cooked ok but the menu was very limited. The service what's virtually non-existent at the beginning and then we realised they have moved over to ordering everything online at the table. Felt like a takeaway

Poorly organised at xmas, ran out of multiple beers and spirits for cocktails. Service was disgusting, no care taken, couldn’t have been less interested in looking after customers, incorrect meals delivered, delays with individual dishes, no dessert menus delivered after mains. Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Will not be returning anytime soon.

Unfriendly and uninterested staff, extremely noisy venue, did not order because of the bad vibe. More pub than restaurant....probably a great place to get a drink, but not for a quiet feed.

Very noisy inside. Couldn’t hear people sitting next to us speak. Very pricey for what you get. We didn’t realize there were different menus for inside and outside. No individual billing. Overall a disappointing experience.

One of the great outlooks for a restaurant in Australia! We were given a bar menu. No outdoor service at all. We used to eat here all the time. Was great ambiance. Now waste of a great venue.

We introduced Me&u to the alfresco areas which allows our guests to have the freedom to order as they wish, in the time frame as desired, with the full menu available. I booked a team Xmas lunch for a small group of 8 ppl on Wed 9 December, on arrival we were informed that due to being busy with large tables, we would be unable to split bill. This would have been useful to know in advance, particularly with many people not carrying cash due to Covid. We enquired if we could order at the bar and pay separately, and were told we could, however when my colleagues went to the bar they were told they had to order at the table. A different staff member then came to our table and advised we should order quickly as the kitchen was busy, despite one of our party not having arrived yet. Overall the food was nice, however we felt rushed to order, and not allowing split billing would be better if advised ahead of time.

Every food we love about the menu has been removed and no longer available. The meal we had was pretty basic nothing out of the ordinary.

I had an amazing large prawns with tons of garlic and some chilli, beautifully cooked and soft and can when over cooked too hard. And sizeable for an starter, next I ask if they make it as main. The best ever.
Also had another starter of seafood like egg like shape, real good and sauce. We shared another thing some scallops which real and great tomatoes thing, but only 4. I think it should 6.
My wife’s barramundi was excellent to the lovely Brussel sprouts, lovely well cooked fish and skin.
We had some Chardonnay which should at room temperature. Not cold like a Sauvignon Blanc.

A great place to catch up with friends. We chose the restaurant indoors for comfort and so we could talk and hear easily. Great spot with large window view. Delicious meal and picked a brilliant Pemberton wine to accompany meal. Totally excellent. Thanks to the lovely staff.

It took a long time for us to be asked for our good order, the food took a long time, and then one of our party had their food burnt to the point where it was black on the bottom. It was very disappointing as we were there for a family members birthday.
