The Rocks Mornington
The Rocks Mornington, sitting on Mornington's waterfront, is a vibrant waterside eatery specializing in tantalizingly fresh seafood dishes with a slew of Asian-inspired plates, served in its relaxing and elegant restaurant. For starters, the hirimasa king fish sashimi with a fennel, apple and ruby grapefruit salad from the raw bar and the vegetable dumplings with shallot, ginger and chili oil are excellent selections. Some of The Rocks Mornington's main dishes include the green tea noodles in ginger chili soy broth with tempura soft shell crab and snow peas, the slow-braised Otway ranges pork ribs and the grass fed lean black angus cheese burger with asiago cheese, bacon and pickles, all of which are brilliantly prepared. The donut-like profiteroles served with espresso ice cream and chocolate makes an irresistible meal ender.
The Rocks Mornington is also a local favorite for holding special events, be it corporate functions or romantic weddings.

The food was lovely service really good lovely view being on the waterfront
Way to hot in the restaurant
Always a fabulous way to have a leisurely lunch. The feed me menu was excellent this time too! Good quality food. Loved the view, as always
Good service good healthy food. Wasnt too much variety but the fish oh the day was very good
Designated driver ordered a juice but was brought a cocktail then gnocchi description didn’t mention hazelnuts but was scattered all over the food - have a mild allergy to hazelnuts! Won’t be returning.
Extremely over priced. I don't mind paying that sort of money for fine food, but, this was far from fine food and the serving was very small. I had a $38 Spaghetti Seafood and I had to stop and grab a burger from somewhere else afterwards as I was still hungry. The quality of the food was not amazing. My family had the fish and chips and for a quarter of the price they would get better quality at a fish&chip shop.
The only thing this place has going for it is the view.
Watch the bill too. They don't mind trying to slip the kid meals thru at adult prices. Mistake? maybe...
Other people we spoke to also had nothing positive to say about this place.
We first went to The Rocks Mornington in 2009 for our wedding anniversary and hadn't been back until the other night (9 years later) for another wedding anniversary. We both agreed this time was a lot more enjoyable. We orderd the "Feed Me" option which was fantastic, its a great way to eat, using the chef's suggestions because we find we always pick the same old things and they put together a great combo. Won't make it as long before we go back next time.
Not the first time we have been to The Rocks and both time enjoyed excellent food. Excellent view even from inside.
Thank you so much for a lovely evening and beautiful seafood my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our night .
The place itself was nice a little noisy though, Very expensive would only ever go again if someone else was paying. Service was very good. The food was quite nice but when ordering the package you don't even get any salad or greens.
We had a lovely anniversary lunch with a great view! Service was lovely too 👍🏻
We have been locals for years and have been to The Rocks for many occasions, but this time in particular was just incredible as we hadn't been since the new menu and it was sensational! Thank you for making our 10 year anniversary extra special!
Voted best seafood in Victoria and I have to agree. The food is great, fresh and delicious. The service was also very good, didn’t wait long for the food and the staff were always available to order another drink.
Overall the Rocks definitely lived up to my expectations.
the meal was delightful. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience
Beautiful atmosphere, amazing cocktails and the seafood spaghetti is to die for!
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner , but felt very rushed . We were only there an hour !
The seafood was excellent but the menu limited . The desert menu was basic and lacked imagination .
Nothing tempted us at all .
I have to say that learning that my favourite calamari was off the menu was a big disappointment. I had been craving it and it was pretty much the reason I chose your restaurant. I had it last 3 times I had been. I chose the white bait, prawn small plate - it was not a patch on the calamari. My boys were unable to have the hamburgers as you were out. They had the fish and chips which they rated as good.
The service was brilliant and your staff were thoughtful and helpful regardiung some dietary requirements but overall I was disappointed. The giosa saved the dinner.
We will definitely be back if the Calamari comes back on the menu. One of our party had the bbq calamari - he thought it was okay, I didn't taste it to comment. On the night it was not what I was after.
I would recommend your restaurant for your service and location, not sure about food at this stage. I did recommend it to my parents who had not been for years and they loved it but they love all seafood so more of your menu would have appealed to them.
Although the setting was great the service was atrocious. We had to ask very every bit of service and for 1 drink we had to request 3 times for the same drink. We had been seated for approximately 30 minutes and no one asked if we wanted drinks. We had to get the attention of the waiter and this was the case through out. Very limited if you don't like seafood.
My wife and I are regulars and have never been disappointed. The current chef's choice 6 course menu is really excellent value - you won't leave hungry!
Good position. Wait staff gave good advice on what to order. Staff also friendly and didn’t hang around
great food service was fantastic. Good selection of local and imported beers wines. Food was delicious and filling
There was 6 of us ladies having a girls weekend away. Three of us had been there previously & thoroughly enjoyed it, so to have dinner at the Rocks last Sat night was being a special night for us pensioners. Three of us had fish & chips, of which everyone of them complained the fish was overcooked. Fourth lady had fish curry, which she also said the fish was overcooked, & she only ate half. Fifth lady had mussels & the sixth lady had 2 entrees . We all had two courses each. Also had 3 bottles of wine, but this cost us $100 p.p The service from Luigi was great, but disappointed in food.
Food reliably great
Share options for 3 no probs
Staff quietly attentive
My fav view❤️
We really enjoyed several small plates all of which were delightfull.
The rocks was a wonderful experience with superb food.
Seafood was outstanding and the ambiance and family flavour was outstanding
Chestnut & wild mushroom dumplings were the best dumplings I’ve ever had anywhere! Fricken ridiculous 🤤
Always a favorite with my family... good fish n chips and my husband loves the mussels
Excellent food, great experience, fabulous location, highly recommend .
Dumplings and small tapas dishes were good however they dropped the ball with the seafood grill platter. Who wants sardines and mackerel on a expensive platter??.
For the prices they charge they should maybe invest in some better wine with museum vintage availability instead of 2016 vintages.
My new guy took me here for my birthday & we had a lovely evening all round
Birthday catch-up with family, the food complimented the company perfectly. The ambience and the wine ensured that time flew and before we knew it 2 hours had passed. The waitstaff were excellent attending to our needs, in a completely unobtrusive manner., but there immediately when required. We have already recommended the restaurant to family for future dining occasions.
I HAVE EATEN HERE BEFORE AND IT WAS AMAZING.
WE DECIDED TO TREAT OUR FRIENDS TO A SPECIAL GET TOGETHER AND UNFORTUNATELY THE FOOD WAS NOT UP THE TIME BEFORE. THE FISH WAS DRY AND THE SALMON WAS NOT SLICED THIN BUT CHUNKY SO INSTEAD OF THE CHOPSTICKS YOU DEFINITELY NEEDED A KNIFE AND FORK WHICH SPOIL IT SOMEWHAT. WE WERE GIVEN BREAD BUT NO PLATESBEEN EXPECTED. SO OUR GUESTS HAD TO USES SERVIETTES. AS THE BILL WAS $255.00, (there were 4 entrees and 2 mains) A BETTER DAYS OUT AND MEAL WOULD HAVE
My husband and I booked a table at the Rocks on a busy Saturday night at 6.30pm. We ordered the tempura soft shelled crab sliders, scallop and prawn dumplings with salmon roe, the mussels in a tomato chilli sauce, chargrilled calamari with roasted red capsicum, the brussels sprouts with yogurt and finally the sweet potato fries with ailoi. We could not fault the food or the fabulous service. We enjoyed every mouthful! My favourite was definitely the crab sliders. Next time we're in Mornington we'll be back.
The ambience was good, the service was friendly and whilst the food was good I felt the menu was rather limited and in parts expensive. Overall a reasonable meal.
The weather was perfect as was the food and service. Loved the table with a magnificent view
Fabulous food, service and ambience thank you I would highly recommend The Rocks to anyone who appreciates good friends and experiences.
I have been brining my friends from
Overseas to The Rocks for years because of foods and atmosphere! This time was very disapointed, was it because my booking was 2pm on Sat? The taste and presentation and quality of two main dishes I used to have; can’t believe using the cheapest meta plate for just a few pieces of seafood, the mussels no longer presented in a pot but on a plate, mussels were tiny, dishes not hot. We are a group of 4 people came al the way from the city and disappointed by the poor food. I asked the waitress whether they have a new chef but no!
Unfortunately we were not able to eat the vegetarian curry dish as there was just too much coriander in the dish. I have never not eaten a meal at a restaurant so this was quite disappointing.
The venue was very noisy also
Otherwise it was a nice evening
Great venue. Reasonable prices for the quality of food and drink. Will definately be back.
Fantastic venue and even better food! Only downside was that booking schedule seems a little rigid/off as we made rang to make a booking for 2 or 2:15 and they said they were fully booked, however when we arrived, there were lots of tables free for the time we were there... weird.
