The Rocks Mornington
The Rocks Mornington, sitting on Mornington's waterfront, is a vibrant waterside eatery specializing in tantalizingly fresh seafood dishes with a slew of Asian-inspired plates, served in its relaxing and elegant restaurant. For starters, the hirimasa king fish sashimi with a fennel, apple and ruby grapefruit salad from the raw bar and the vegetable dumplings with shallot, ginger and chili oil are excellent selections. Some of The Rocks Mornington's main dishes include the green tea noodles in ginger chili soy broth with tempura soft shell crab and snow peas, the slow-braised Otway ranges pork ribs and the grass fed lean black angus cheese burger with asiago cheese, bacon and pickles, all of which are brilliantly prepared. The donut-like profiteroles served with espresso ice cream and chocolate makes an irresistible meal ender.
The Rocks Mornington is also a local favorite for holding special events, be it corporate functions or romantic weddings.

Food and service was great...almost as good as the spectacular view over the water
I been the rock few time always get good atmosphere . Food and service excellent... fantastic view . Just 1 thing I wish they give more food haha because Its gone in fees second. We 'll be back again . Here is best memory of anniversary first met my partner
Always fantastic. Highly recommend. Staff are always friendly. Food always on point.
Best restaurant in Mornington cannot recommend enough!
Please bring back the old menu!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
We missed the gyozas as the new dumplings weren't the same and the chilli dumplings used to be so good. We also missed the bao buns!
Enjoyed a great family lunch. Wonderful food, happy welcome vibe and happiest staff I have seen in a long time!
Great atmosphere, and amazing food and staff. Would definitely recommend!
Overcooked fish and lobster. Was told only one lobster left but the next table that came in afterwards got two.
Left waiting almost an hour between starter and main.
Poorly managed staff.
Manager who had no idea who was doing what and asked us three times to check in after we already had.
Will not recommend or go back.
For a seafood restaurant, it was diabolical.
Location is fantastic, and we were fortunate to have a warm sunny day. But the food was disappointing. Crab slider was good, but the fish and chips ordinary.
The seafood was fresh, cooked beautiful. I loved the chargrilled calamari. Also the location is very nice. Feels like your in boat. The noise level can feel a bit loud, for a good conversation. But it’s nice ambience. Great mixed drinks too. Would be a place for a celebration of sorts.
Such a lovely place, great ambiance by the Mornington pier overlooking the water and great sunsets... it promised so much and delivered so poorly.
The staff were friendly and took our food order (for 3 people) promptly.
Drinks were slow coming out and were even slower when wanting the next drink.
Our table ordered the 'lovely seafood platter for two' which the waitress proudly said that she'd never seen any one person come close to finishing solo, after one of the guys said how hungry he was. I ordered the pork ribs (as i love ribs it was hard to go past).
After a lengthy wait (even though they were not that busy) the food arrived.
Well... the platter for two was rather small, embaressingly small for the $129 price tag it carried- the fish was not warm, fries were on the cold side and overall was not great. My ribs, whilst easy to cut off the bone was also a very small portion for the price tag and a little dry. The chips were also cold and i was left rather disappointed.
We all had deserts as well (as we were all still hungry), the cheesecake was served warm and was unpleasent and the pudding was served cold, which you would think should be a dish served warm.
We all left after the $300+ price tag for dinner/drinks and headed to McDonald's to get a top of of food as we were not satisfied with what we had just eaten still.
So i would not come here again... save your money and enjoy another nicer place that gives better bang for your $$$$'s and serves delicious food.
Lovely as usual, it was our first time out since March so was our firrst place to think of.
Too expensive foods and uncomfortable service.
Only have good view.
Lovely seafood marinara. Yum. Nice staff too. Incredible views.
Wanted to take our interstate visitors to somewhere special to showcase Mornington as there are not many restaurants on the waterfront. Not overly fantastic. Food quite expensive and one of the ingredients on a plate was missing, but brought out separately after alerting the Waiter to this. An expensive meal for 4, without even dessert or coffee.
Cos salad very average and mains too
Definitely not as fabulous as I remembered it. Desserts too sweet and could have gelato or ice cream please.
Really good food, generous servings with interesting accompaniments and presentation. The deck is the ideal place on a warm evening, with its high ceiling it feels cool.
Great food and view is lovely.
Had a high table and got really cold because of the updraft through the floor boards.
Would recommend a low table!
Bar tender kept shaking his cocktail mixer which was super annoying.
Food presented well and very tasty.
Thank you so much for a brilliant night! You all made such an effort to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and always there if we needed anything. Everything came out super quickly too!
All meals served were fantastic, in particular the Lamb Shoulder was a killer!
We had a situation with a our dog who had just lost her best friend a few weeks ago and is grieving and your staff were so kind as to allow her to be under the stairs in the shade while we had our lunch. The girls looked after us so well including water for Meg and the occasional pat of comfort. We have been to the Rocks many times and will be returning many many more.
Thank you so very much for a really enjoyable dining experience.
My happy place to eat entertain and celebrate. Can't beat the view as well.
We were anxious before arriving as our booking ( for 8) was first sitting.
Had to be out by 1.30pm.
Expected food & drink to be shoved down quickly - but I was impressed.
It didn’t appear that we were rushed&
had adequate time for shared plates &
mains, some even desert. We had 2 young boys with us. They loved it.
Our waiter was amazing ... so friendly .
Food was incredible. We had the Lamb Shoulder for 2 and were not disappointed by the quality. Views were amazing and Michael our server was attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back again!
A truely lovely experience. The food was top rate at a very good price. Staff provided excellent service without hovering. Overall we will be back
I was disappointed with the food menu, we ordered share plates and I found the food bland. There was not good options on the menu and for a Seafood restaurant I was really disappointed. This was a surprise 50th and felt the atmosphere was just lacking. The views were ok but not what I was expecting. Not the worst experience but will not be returning.
Loved the food and the ambiance.
Will definitely go back.
Such a great environment, beautiful view and delicious, fresh food. A family favourite. New chef is amazing!
We ordered grilled calamari and unfortunately recived burned, mostly bitter and too chewy calamari with quite a "fishy" smell that left us with a bad after-taste. The service was initially fine, but after the food arrived and we did not order any further drinks, they did not even bring water to the table. We left thirsty too. After driving 1 hour to get there, the food and service were terribly disappointing and spoiled my son's birthday celebration. We would never return.
The food and service was exceptional. The view of the Bay is priceless. Highly recommend it!
Really great food, service was fantastic really great atmosphere, will be visiting again
Lovely venue and great seafood. Highly recommended.
New chef and layout has improved this fabulous venue
The food was still not quite right nothing hugely wrong just not wow I love that dish ie New York cheesecake was an individual cupcake so lots of dry crust not that moist smooth classic slice topped with big dollop of raspberry jam??
Amazing food, service, can't beat a table on the deck overlooking the water! Great new cocktails too!
Only complaint was we couldn't stay longer than 1.5 hours! Can't wait for restrictions to go and stay longer!
We always return for our Anniversary and as luck would have it we were allowed out of lockdown just in time. It was a bit quieter as there were a few less tables, but the Service, Atmosphere, Staff and the Food were, as always, excellent.
As always, thank you for making our special day, even more special
This was a return visit for us and we were equally happy with our experience. Beautiful food, stunning view and great service. Nothing was too much trouble to feed a fussy, vegetarian 8 year old. Food was served quickly and it was hot and delicious.
Nice but continually clock watching due to COVID time restraints on table bookings.
We came for dinner for our anniversary. We were extremely well looked after. All the food was delicious, i wish i was able to try more of the dishes! The show stoppers were the sticky pork belly and the sticky bbq pork ribs. I had a beautiful red hill chardonnay and a gorgeous yabby lake single vineyard pinot noir. I love that there were so many beautiful local wines showcased on the menu.
The staff were wonderfully attentive without being over the top. I would have loved to sit by the water for another hour or so. Unfortunately restrictions mean 90 minute dining sessions at the moment. This was handled well and we did not feel rushed at all. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
All the staff were awesome. Oysters sensational. Duck curry to die for. And the back drop breath taking.
The food is always delicious at the Rocks. They definitely outdid themselves on this occasion and the service was amazing and the atmosphere relaxed.
