The Rocks Mornington
The Rocks Mornington, sitting on Mornington's waterfront, is a vibrant waterside eatery specializing in tantalizingly fresh seafood dishes with a slew of Asian-inspired plates, served in its relaxing and elegant restaurant. For starters, the hirimasa king fish sashimi with a fennel, apple and ruby grapefruit salad from the raw bar and the vegetable dumplings with shallot, ginger and chili oil are excellent selections. Some of The Rocks Mornington's main dishes include the green tea noodles in ginger chili soy broth with tempura soft shell crab and snow peas, the slow-braised Otway ranges pork ribs and the grass fed lean black angus cheese burger with asiago cheese, bacon and pickles, all of which are brilliantly prepared. The donut-like profiteroles served with espresso ice cream and chocolate makes an irresistible meal ender.
The Rocks Mornington is also a local favorite for holding special events, be it corporate functions or romantic weddings.
Great food and service. Always a great experience.
The shared seafood platter was beautiful! Highly recommend it to all. Lovely view and the staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly.
Great food, fantastic service and the view is spectacular.
Top notch service from a couple of the wait staff. The food is tasty, but it is fairly basic and overpriced, $39 for squid and rocket which was nice but leaves you very hungry. We'll go there again as it's a nice sort of place in a good location, but mostly because there is limited worthy competition in the area.
We loved our time here.
And the chef was so accommodating to food needs
Thank you so much 😊
All good, but parking is abysmal. No dedicated parking, so nearly impossible. Shame, cos everything else is lovely.
Excellent reception and very good all round experience, not too fussy.
Location we knew would be perfect.!! Atmosphere was good until screaming kid from far table, which customers apologised, hold already finished and were paying the bill. 👍.. Atmosphere returned with absolutely amazing service from Sarah who attended our every need, drinks, waters, and detailed information about our ‘Feed Me Menu’ for $69, consisting of 6 plates, which all meals were incredibly fresh and full of flavours. Well done Chefs & thank you to Sarah for making our 24th Wedding anniversary lunch another great memory..🥂!!
...p.s - when then went to top of lookout across the road, sat down just as a young guy brought his girl out for a view, dropped on one knee and proposed with ring !!
—- She said yes !!!
We came for an early dinner booking to make the most of the wonderful panoramic views of the coastline. We had barramundi and calamari and each dish was cooked to perfection... crispy skin on the Barra and very tender calamari. Food was light, fresh and delicious. Sides of chat potatoes and Greek salad made excellent accompaniments. For dessert I had profiteroles which were heavenly and while I finished both, one would have been plenty...great to share. The chocolate tart was smooth and finished well with espresso coffee. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and service was attentive and well paced
Fish and chips for $33 was oily, tasteless and overpriced. The ‘salad’ with it was a quarter of a lettuce with some Parmesan on it which was not appetizing at all and after a mouthful I left it. I won’t be back. The coffee was nice and staff were good.
Very expensive for a sad price of barramundi with a tiny bit of zucchini. No wow factor.
We brought two friends visiting Australia from France to sample our local seafood. No better venue than The Rocks . The view of the bay is stunning. We had local mussels and seafood spaghetti and sampled the ice plate with a selection of seafood on a bed of jce. So much to choose from. All dishes were superb and impressed our French friends. A definite accolade .
Service and food were second to none, we will go back
Our little regular. Best views in town. So easy to get to and park.
The service was excellent, food delicious, great atmosphere and although a chilly day it was cost inside
We have been dining at This restaurant for a number of years. On this occasion the food was disappointing. Would have to think twice before booking again.
Two of our guests had spaghetti marinara which had little to no seafood - just a bug tail with hardly any meat on it and squid - no fish or prawns - waste of money
Tasteless food, looks like it was thrown on the plate. You’d expect a restaurant on the sea to do seafood well.
We came to celebrate our sisters birthday and were just blown away by the amazing service. It was attentive and accommodating. The seafood platter and fish were delicious however we found the zucchini salad to be a bit bland and underdressed. We will definitely be back and have recommended to our friends and family.
Excellent quality seafood in a delightful atmosphere Enjoyed it immensely.
Birthday dinner with family. Excellent service and food is always delicious
Most disappointing. Incompetent staff in a café like venue with terrible acoustics and pretty awful food.
This falls so far below their pretensions!
As for saying their is an 6.30 then and 8.30 dining turnover, the place was not even filled once.
Never Again !!!
From the time we ordered it took about 45 mins for our meal to arrive. A couple who arrived after us got their meal before us. It was not busy either, plenty of vacant tables. They are the winners of seafood restaurant of the year? Well I have had better seafood elsewhere on the Peninsula. Disappointed
We always love coming to The Rocks. We sometimes find that the tables for 4 people are not big enough. We didn't get served water which is not like the service we are use to. We were asked if we wanted top ups of our water, but this was the first time we had been offered it during our sitting. Always will return and we love the atmosphere and food.
Absolutely outstanding service and the freshest food on the bay. Was there for an anniversary and they went beyond device expectations great atmosphere and views of the water and dock.
Will be back for sure.
I love the rocks. I have dined there twice in last week. always excellent. be there tomorrow as well.
Very fresh food. Great service. Very attentive and friendly. Great menu. We love dining at The Rocks.
We enjoyed a birthday celebration for my 85 year old mother in law.Service was great very accomodating, great menu selection ambience was great overall great night out with family to celebrate.
The service was really good. We had the "feed me" choice and the first five courses were wonderful but the fifth course of lamb and chat potatos was not a good pairing after 4 seafood courses. It was too heavy and greasy and lacked the plate appeal of the preceding dishes. We would much preferred to have finished with a delicate desert paired with a desert wine.
Also we were assured the heating was on but we were so cold with the draft coming under the cafe blinds. We much prefer to be able to take our coats off when we sit down for dinner! The patrons sitting next to us also commented on how cold they were. A basket of throw rugs for our laps would have been greatly appreciated and would have made all the difference to the ambience.
Staff were extremely friendly and food was amazing. Nice view and ambient, certainly a great value for a great experience. Well done.
Had the beautiful seafood plate for 1, amazing and different to any other I have had in the past
Love the bistro vibe with the wonderful views over Mornington Harbour. Good food and great service.
We had a fabulous time celebrating our 10th anniversary at The Rocks on Saturday. It was the first restaurant we ate at when we first met. Food was amazing, staff were just as good too. Especially the female waitress there (sorry, can't remember her name - the one who had lived in Port Douglas many years ago). Such friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Loved the crab croquettes ! Hubby really liked the local beers on tap. Thank you for a memorable time once again.
We had an enjoyable time at The Rocks, food was delicious and plentiful. The service was outstanding. We will certainly return.
Beautiful location and great ambience. Staff were nice. Food was tasty but portions were under par for the price. Mussels were fresh but very small and a kilo didn't come to much. Biggest disappointment was the lobster bun which was priced like a main dish but was 2 bite sized.
Worth a visit but wont be a regular
If you enjoy seafood then I would certainly recommend The Rocks. Very good fresh seafood
Great service. Awesome food Beautiful views and great ambience
We used to eat here all the time but the quality and presentation of food has gone down hill . Won’t be going back .
I always enjoy the Rocks - great for groups and couples - good food and perfect views
I chose a main dish of barramundi and zucchini. It was quite pleasant but very small and simple given the price of $36. Our mains took about 35 minutes to arrive (we hadn’t ordered an entree).
