We sat outside, nice view of the beach, the service was great and so was the food
Great food, great spot, and great service.
We came because it was Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. We’ve never been to this restaurant before today - man was it good!
My husband and I shared everything to get a little taste of everything we could. We both left stuffed and happy.
Would definitely go again.
We had such a pleasant experience at this comfortable, Oceanside restaurant. I had not been here in a few years and suggested it to some friends as a “halfway” point for us to meet. Some restaurants still are not offering full menus but was happy to see not only a full menu but also Specials! Three appetizers for five of us were plenty. I ordered short ribs which was tender and delicious. Only complaint was too many Brussels sprouts (which my friend was happy to add to her doggy bag). She had a large plate of soft shell crab. All of the meals were good with great portions!
We got off on the wrong foot because the Google listing for this restaurant says it opens at 10am on Saturdays but that was wrong; it opens at 11. We waited around for an hour because we had already paid for parking. When we came back, the hostess cancelled our Open Table reservation because we asked to be seated inside (it was completely empty and we were the only people there) instead of outside because of the weather. I only found this out later when I saw the email from Open Table saying the reservation had been cancelled. When we were finally seated, the waitress was very disengaged; the drinks were overpriced; the bloody Mary we ordered was pretty terrible (with wilted and bruised garnishes and very little flavor), and the appetizer we ordered was super bland. This is the second time we've been to this restaurant and we've been underwhelmed both times. We won't be back.
Normally one of our Happy Hour haunts, had dinner with my wife and enjoyed the food and service as always. Steve at the bar made our favorite Martinis - spot on as usual! Apps of the Fried Zucchini sticks and a bowl of Cheddar Ale Soup were great. My wife loves their burgers and I had the stuffed shrimp over Risotto - both were excellent. Cannot wait to sit at the bar again, but overall, the Ale House is worth checking out when in Asbury Park.
Beautiful place, fantastic view. Menu has a variety for any tastes.
We were first time customers. The food was very good, but a bit over priced. The service was excellent !!!!
Delicious food but they were understaffed that night.
We had made a reservation in advance so was hoping to get a table by the window for a view. When asked if we can have our seats changed by window they said they were "reserved" which is what we did do. Anyway after that things went downhill. Food was good but for the price portions were very small. Attendant was ok did not come around for water refills or ask if all was ok. Other tables were being catered too not sure if they were regulars or not.
We didn't have dessert as we wanted to leave. Will not be returning.
We had Easter dinner at The Robinson Ale House and it was a fantastic experience. The setting was beautiful, the service was superior and the food was delicious!
There was almost NO social distancing. The reassurance was way more than 50%
capacity. More like filled to 80 % capacity or more.
If I knew that I would not have eaten there!
Some food was not really very good.
The whole experience was great. Food was awesome. In fact, the key to our whole time there was our waiter. Friendly, chatty, on top of things. Just a great meal
Every time my family comes down to visit, we’ve taken them to a MC restaurant for lunch. The first time was Rum Runner and the lunch was awful. This was right when they re opened after covid so we cut them some slack and blamed it on that. However, this time we went to Robinson in Asbury and once again, the lunch was awful. Burgers weren’t cooked to our requests, and the overall food quality was terrible. Definitely not worth the 100$ lunch check. Not sure what’s going on with Mcloon’s restaurants and their lunch offerings, but I’ll probably stick to dinner from now on. Such a shame and embarrassment.
The service was excellent and food was very good. We ate at lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon. The tables were safely distanced and there were plexiglass shields between tables. There were many options for my friend who must eat gluten free and the staff took her dietary restrictions seriously. This was my first visit and I will return!
We made in advance reservations and we were seated promptly. We waited at an outdoor table in rather cold weather for 10 minutes with nobody paying any attention to us at all.
It was not busy out there at all, so it was totally unacceptable, and we left.
The chilly temperature was certainly not their fault, but the lack of space heaters shows that they don't care about the comfort of their guests.
This is during a pandemic when outdoor dining was the only option for quite a while, so the modest heater investment is a must for any decent host.
How do you have such a valuable piece of property on the boardwalk and so little class? The answer is that the don't care about quality because the location will always be a draw.
Another awesome Lunch at Robinsons! We bring our little dog Gypsy and the bring her a bowl of water and are very pet and people friendly!
Sat at table for 25 minutes and we were never waited on. No waiter in sight. We ended up leaving... terrible service
The food and music didn't really match the decor. It would have been great to have healthier options on the menu--so much sugar, candied this and that and fried things. Seemed like a great menu for college kids trying to class it up but not so much adults.
Excellent service, excellent food and magnificent views of the Ocean!
Great place to have lunch in Asbury Park! Brought our little dog and the staff brought he a bowl of water. Very nice experience and will certainly go back!
Is was an execllent time
Great food, felt super spaced out and safe, and the food was excellent!
We got there early for our 6pm outside reservation and we were able to snag a high top table inside by the bar. They take Covid safety very seriously which makes it extremely comforting and one of the reasons we will be back! There is plexiglass in between each table so you feel like you and your party are in your own private space. The drinks, atmosphere and food were fantastic too! Very happy with this experience. 10/10 recommend!
Excellent experience will definitely be back.
We had great time. The service and food were perfect. Overall, we had a great night and we’ll definitely be back.
Everything was great. Felt super safe covide wise. Great time with the family
We were seated promptly even though we were early for our reservation. Service was fast and friendly without feeling rushed. Oysters for an appetizer were fresh and delish. We look forward to dining at Robinson's again.
Early dinner was easy and seemed very Covid safe.
Excellent food! A little on the pricey side, but I do not mind paying extra for quality food!
A great lunch on Sunday! Fantastic service, delicious cocktail and lunch. Everyone was following protocol for Covid. I can’t wait to return!
Went on a Wednesday night for my daughters birthday. It was lovely, not crowded at all and the service was great. I thought the food was good also. We love this place in the summer obviously but it’s more enjoyable in the winter without all the crowds.
We recently dined here for Valentine's Day. We had a wonderful meal. We started with calamari since you really can't do that for take out. It was crispy and delicious. My girls each had the Ale house steak which was cooked to perfection. I had the short rib dinner which was so tender. My husband had the chili, lump crab meat appetizer and pretzels. We left with full bellies and happy hearts. The tables were all generously spaced apart. For someone who hadn't dined out in 11 months I felt very safe and would definitely go back.
We went for Vday brunch with our family, was expecting to have pancakes or more breakfast food which they didn't offer. For the price it was just the basics, not great.
Erika was a lovely server. So attentive and accommodating. Also, the restaurant does a great job at following covid protocols. We felt very safe.
Bartender, server, and host always great, as are the food and drinks, in nice atmosphere
Very good food and service. Appreciated everything there
Fantastic food our server was great
A great view of the ocean with a cozy atmosphere. Food and drinks were delicious! The staff was kind and helpful! Highly recommend.
