Since welcoming its first guests in 1773, The Red Lion Inn has earned a reputation for outstanding food and genuine country hospitality. Those traditions are continued today by Executive Chef Robert Brunell, whose kitchen features contemporary cuisine that is rooted in the region's history and harvests. Emphasizing the use of fresh, local ingredients and a huge proponent of buying locally and sustaining the region, Chef Brunell regularly updates the Inn's menus to reflect the bounty of each season. Guests choose from the elegant Main Dining Room, the cozy Widow Bingham's Tavern, the casual Lion's Den pub. Prices are high, service was good, atmosphere was very nice. Portions were small
I had the turkey dinner at $32 seemed very high. My wife had the pork roast. The pork was over cooked and tough at $27. I won't be back. The best was the fresh oysters from Dennis Ma. On the front porch.

The bar ambiance is quite rustic and warm; the food is typical bar food: not great but adequate. A bit overpriced for what it is I thought.

We had a lovely bottle of rose that was recommended when we couldn't get the sancerre rose that we requested. Our server, Gina, was very good as well. However, the meal itself was lukewarm to cool and neither my husband nor I really enjoyed our meals as a result. The desserts were good.

miss the dining room; tavern seating or outside only available in these times. Limited menu for same reason.

Very well spaced tables with lots of social distance. lobby area and around the hostess desk and to get to the restrooms was crowded and people in close proximity. Food and value for money were good. Our waitress was delightful. Old fashioned decor is charming. Our experience was marred by the cold blowing through as the door kept being left open for the outside diners. Take a blanket for your knees!

I had eggplant with roasted red peppers and olive tapenade. Eggplant was not cooked and waitress said she could microwave it. I would expect the Red Lion to offer another alternative. Also waitress was not that helpful and when asked to bring more creamers
she delayed and coffee got cold.

We had a nice evening at the Red Lion yesterday on their outdoor veranda in the back. The ambiance is wonderful, with little lights, and seasonal decor like mums and pumpkins outside, and the table elegantly set with white linens. Our server Dorothy was wonderful and attentive. She suggested the warm cider with rum as it was a chilly night, and that was perfect and delicious! My son and I had the clam chowder, which was as good as any on the Cape, and for dinner I had the seafood gratin, which was also delicious. My picky teens enjoyed the charcuterie board, chicken sliders, and pasta alla vodka sauce. My only complaint would be that it was a bit cold and I wish that they had outdoor heating lamps. But overall, we had a wonderful night and felt safe in their outdoor dining area. Thank you Red Lion!

We had a server that never came back once after the meal was there to ask if anything was OK and left us sitting there with no check we had to go to the bar to get the check And then he proceeded to tell us that we have to get it from our server And he was very rude. We come quite a few Times per year and also stay there I never had service like that

The atmosphere at the Red Lion is lovely and comfortable. The food is very good. However, this is the first time we experienced very slow service. Our waiter did not check in with us to refresh our drinks or ask if everything was OK. Maybe this is due to COVID-19 procedures? Not only did it take a long time for someone to take our order, it also took almost 30 minutes for our order to reach our table. It was busy that day, maybe they were short staffed? Anyway, the Red Lion is a must stop for us when we visit Stockbridge and we will continue to do so in the future.

Famous old country inn with lovely decor details, great service, traditional American cuisine, and a feeling of being back in a more genteel time. We really enjoyed the Turkey dinner which was Thanksgiving food at high quality. Nothing fancy but everything prepared well. Pretty good martinis, too.

Not a great experience !
Poor service, low food quality, and definitely expensive for what you get. It was freezing, we kept our jacket to eat. And we were not the only one to complain. Waiters spent their time saying sorry for something. A disaster. We won’t come back!

We had a very mixed review. The ambiance and service were fine, but we were a bit disappointed with some of the food. The clam chowder was quite good and the Caesar salad was fine. We had the seafood gratin and the salmon. The seafood gratin was noted as their best dish and lived up to expectations. The salmon was quite dry and went half eaten. For dessert, we had the Red Lion apple pie, and it seemed a bit rubbery and old. They assured us that the pies are made daily, but we had doubts. Strangely, the manager came by to address the concerns and seemingly offer something to smooth the feathers. However, nothing happened (we didn't ask for anything, but it was just a little surprising). All in all, a bit disappointing for the price.

The quality of the food has gone way downhill. The prices are stupid for lunch. My husband ordered the tuna bahn mi sandwich and you’d think he would get real seared tuna for $22. Nope, out of a can. We weren’t happy at all. I love coming there. Hate their lunch menu. Soup had no flavor. Disappointing.

Family reunion week visiting. I never really write reviews but we were kind of upset by how we were treated last night at the red lion inn. We understand that Covid rules are important to follow. We also understand that you decided to open your restaurant apparently trying to adhere to the rules. However a party of eight we were told was not an issue when they gave us the reservation. Originally I had a party of six when I made it on OpenTable but then I called and told them we had to expand it to eight.Nobody said a thing about it. Upon arrival you got the feeling that they were not interested in being warm. Once we had drinks (we were not allowed to use the bar to sit and drink however per rules) we were told that “state regulations “ told them they couldn’t seat us together as a party of eight so they made us sit in two parties of four at two separate tables. We were not happy about this because nobody told us about this when we made the reservation and of course we want to sit with our group. However we sat at the two tables as instructed and ordered separately etc. All items such as cocktails bread and dinner took long periods of time to arrive. We arrived at 7:30 and at 9 PM we still hadn’t had dinner. The food itself was tasty and the cocktails were tasty. The bartender was friendly. The rest of the staff seemed distracted and more nervous about Covid and less concerned about being warm and welcoming hosts. One of them seemed as if he was afraid to get too close as he would approach the table with food items. We understand that some people are more fearful but maybe don’t work as a waiter or busboy if it is too scary for you.
I certainly understand the challenges of a business during these crazy times. I would recommend that the red lion Inn find a way to provide good service and a warm welcoming environment while also properly following Covid guidelines! It’s possible to do both !

It was my first time at this famous restaurant and it did not disappoint or wow us either. Hubby ordered turkey and I ordered salmon . Both dinners were good but just a bit small for satisfaction . We were seated at a window which was wonderful in these covid times. We had to wait a little for our drinks as some ingredient in a cocktail
I had ordered was out of stock ...Overall it was enjoyable . a bit pricey with mostly good service . I’d recommend going there for its charm and history .

Sept 2020. Dined outside on porch. Very lovely. Contactless menu. Limited choices. Tuna Bahn mi was simply a tuna fish sandwich in a baguette. RLB turkey sandwich was pretty good but a bit dry. A bit pricey for simple food.

The waiter brought out the wrong drinks.
The wrong meals was delivered and took them 10 additional minutes to get the meal correct. Then the meat was well done.
Not even a offer of a cocktail while I waited for my dinner and everyone else began to eat.

Tho the Inn is pretty tired, the restaurant offers a solid menu. We both had fish that was delicious, me a sesame seed coated salmon and my husband a cod dish. The starters were a little more unique and the wine list was good. We sat outside on a lovely evening and the restaurant followed all the COVID requirements while making us feel comfortable and welcomed. The restaurant wasn’t out of line for the Berkshires but don’t plan on an inexpensive evening. Only the main dining room is open to observe distancing. And some food must be served with drinks.
