The Red Lion Hernhill
Country, Family Run, Good Quality food - On the green overlooking the church - large beer garden with play area.
Lovely venue and food
I have no problem with the service charge raised due to Covid and pubs issues but some people may moan if they are not told about it immediately
We ate outside in the pub garden. Service was perfect; attentive, friendly, polite.
Good food with standard choice on the menu at reasonable prices.
Nice place, easy to book, food was ok but not worth the high prices. Steak chewy however they gave us a free dessert when we complained. Good service.
A lovely warm and friendly welcome with plenty of space and service with a smile. Loads of outdoor space and really clean and comfortable. Great location only 5 minutes off the A299, tasty unique food plus cater for vegetarians and vegans too, I’d visit again in a heartbeat
Great local pub. Hard to fault anything. Good menu and had a lovely Sunday lunch
Another enjoyable evening at the Red Lion. Food delicious (Monkfish Special was super) served by an ever friendly team !!
Will be back soon.
My favourite pub and always a cheerful service from the lovely Kym 👍
Sunday roast , good service , lovely waitress .
Food was tasty and prompt, can’t wait to go back.
Delicious food, efficient service and lovely staff.
We visit regularly but hadn’t tried the fish and chips before - what an oversight! Cooked in super crisp yet fluffy tempura batter, the cod was pure white in succulent chunky flakes. Delicious proper chips (no silly multiple cooking) and with sweet little peas. Accompanied by a couple of glasses of Saint Mitre Provençal rose wine. Perfect.
Friendly service and good food.
They were very efficient and accommodating. And the meal I had was a simple lunch but it was tasty. Would go again.
We booked the Red Lion for a Sunday lunch with friends based on the online reviews. The roast was very tasty, although could have been warmer. We very much enjoyed our experience.
Everything was just perfect, and in the current situation we are all in that can’t be easy ! Great food, great service as always. Thank you.
Great service and lovely, friendly pub!
Would recommend the biscotti cheesecake!
We’d been before and have always had an excellent meal. Very attentive, professional service; very good, often local ingredients; good choices on the menu. Washed down nicely with a couple of hand pump ales.
Visited whilst on a family break, which I chose based on the reviews. We were not disappointed! Beautiful building and interior, quiet location. Great menu, friendly and professional staff. Drinks were well priced, as was the food for the excellent quality. Spotlessly clean, well placed tables for social distancing. Nothing was too much trouble. Gutted we don’t live closer as this would become a regular!
Fantastic team and a good choice of great food. Would recommend!
Food was very good. The pub was very busy as it was the last £10 off Wednesday in August. Bearing that in mind the food and the service were both top quality.
Unfortunately we felt like we got false advertisement on the website and the bill came up to way more then expected. Wasn’t happy at all
Superb lunch. The duck was perfect and the linguine excellent. Exceptional Bakewell tart for dessert.
The portions were well sized, the staff were good, the chips were amazing but the Buddha bowl was dreary
Enjoyed our meal. The prawn dish with peppers and spinach was too hot for us. Too much pepper
We were late as traffic was very bad, lady announced to the whole bar that we were late, very embarrassing. I was just about to say ok we’ll leave when she said we still have your table. Not a good start. But other service was good and food was excellent. Only four stars given for unnecessary comment when we arrived, she realised that I was turning to go so said she still had our table. Otherwise would have given 5 stars
Very overpriced, no lunch menu offered even though they offered it on the website, very small portions.
have eaten here a few times and each time it has been exceptional, great food lovely place and friendly
Took my parents out for a meal as local to them and having heard good reviews on the food thought it would be nice to visit. We had a superb meal and service was excellent. We sat next to a rather noisy table. They were asked several times to be quiet and this did help and appreciate that the staff noted their behaviour had took control. This was my parents first meal out since a March so it was nice we had great food and super service. We will be back!
Wonderful food and great service again. Really lovely evening and well laid out. Good social distancing measures in place. Thank you to all the staff and chefs for their hard work
Felt cheated on fine in to eat out offer , not usual menu,, not a vegetable in sight , definitely not the same standard as we only paid half price,
Lovely place with great food and very good service. COVID sage. One of the best Sunday lunches that can be had. Thoroughly recommend.
Great little country pub
Really yummy fresh food. Not the cheapest but everyone enjoyed. Excellent service and lovely pub.
Lovely food, but service was extremely slow and waitresses did not observe social distancing at all. Also we went in the evening and sat outside, so when the sunset, everyone was sitting in darkness and needed our phone lights to see! No outside lighting!
An excellent evening in a beautiful country garden!
The food was good; the Thai duck, chicken and the beef burgers were excellent but the chips a little cool. Very busy with people taking advantage of the government's offer but the staff were attentive and coped admirably.
The picnic table seating became a little uncomfortable as the evening progressed but the balmy atmosphere more than compensated. There was a slight issue as the dusk became dark as the outside lighting was minimal and more concentrated towards the main building. Nevertheless, our daughters (like many other young people!) improvised by sitting their mobile phone torches on an empty glass to provide the necessary illumination.
Well done Red Lion management in supervising a very hectic evening whilst making it relaxed and enjoyable for its visitors.
Really enjoyed our meal . It was hot but got a seat completely shaded and it was delicious
There have been several poor reviews for the red lion .... I am very choosy as where I eat and value for money in both service & quality of food ...... just go and see for yourselves ..... it is fantastic..... trust me you really will not be disappointed.... by the foodie of Kent 👍👍
Hit and miss. Fish and chips ok but the hummas starter was inedible. Waitresses were friendly but we also got delivered the wrong main.
Perfectly pleasant service but food was underwhelming. Kitchen had technical problems that meant only two of about ten main courses were available. This information was given to us after we had been at the table for at least thirty minutes. Rose wine from the fridge was not chilled enough.
Booked this as had been previously and thought it was lovely. Unfortunately, although a Wednesday evening it was rammed. The owners had clearly put a one way system in place but we couldn’t get to it due to the number of cyclists stood in the way. Once in we were shown to a dirty table which was quickly wiped but food took ninety mins to arrive, we were then give dessert menus but no one came back to take our order despite staff standing around. What I hoped would be a fab date night in a great setting was very disappointing.
