The Red Lion Hernhill
Country, Family Run, Good Quality food - On the green overlooking the church - large beer garden with play area.
Lovely pub in a village setting....home cooked food was good with something for everyone.
Stunning historic pub, with amazing food, and a great selection of drink
very ordinary meal cost circa £40 a head-not worth it
Excellent character pub with excellent food. Five star
Lovely pub - second time of eating here and it won't be the last :) Great food, great service, friendly staff (always a bonus!) will definitely be back.
Lovely food. Had steak and onion pie. Delicious. The green veg were cooked to perfection.
Great country pub, with excellent food and service!
A great place to eat and relax all staff were happy and helpful
Great at a good decent price
I will be returning with some friends to pass in the delights of the Red lion at Herne hill
A nice pub/restaurant in a lovely country village location. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food is okay. Not spectacular, but enjoyable and good value for money. The internal areas are a little squashed and not entirely comfortable, but it's quite quirky and interesting. For an everyday English country pub lunch it is a decent choice. We will certainly go back from time to time.
This is a lovely country style pub and the food is excellent and the portions generous. Will definitely go back again.
Four of us met at the Red Lion for lunch. We waited an hour for our other two guests but staff remained helpful and very pleasant, bringing us a bottle of wine and checking now and then whether we wanted to order.
When we did order they were happy to ask for salad with our fish rather than chips. The fish was moist and the salad excellent.
Our table for six was at one end of the pub, out of the way of traffic and noise and ideal for us.
Very nice pub for food, especially upstairs. The spiral staircase might be a challenge for a disabled person but there is plenty of room downstairs. You need to book well in advance and advise the pub if you have anyone disabled with you.
Very enjoyable experience.
Found it very noisy and didn't like the price of a pint of coke £5.40! and the added service charge.
Run of the mill food- menu put together with no obvious brilliant cooking
Therefore maybe overpriced for whats on offer
Basically pub with a bit of grub
Arranged to meet a friend here for a catch up over Sunday Lunch after hearing some very good things and we were not disappointed. We immediately felt welcome, all the staff were friendly and provided a first class service. The food was very good, tasty and nicely presented. We were sat within the main bar area, it was busy and at times a little bit noisy, however we did not mind this at all, the atmosphere was very congenial and contributed to the comfortable homely feel of the place. Will definitely visit again.
Very good food and gorgeous traditional pub. Meat courses better quality than veggie options unfortunately. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Sadly they were so busy there was a very long wait for food/service and it got a little noisy. Other than this I highly recommend. Prices are perhaps a little too high.
What a gem! How we’d never heard of this pub is astonishing but delighted now we’ve found it. Dog friendly, warm welcome, good well kept beers and great food in a beautiful period building with a sympathetic touch of modernism where it’s needed! Totally recommend the pub.
A great location and pub though the food particularly the lamb was chewy. This was mentioned to the team at the pub. Overall good service but expensive purely based on the lamb.
Lovely old world pub, food good and our table service was excellent. Would recommend
I have enjoyed this country pub on many occasions, especially on a Wednesday night when me & a few lads are out on our motorbikes. The food & service are second to no other. However, when it gets busy, especially weekends when me & my wife sometimes visit, the service does suffer a little. Otherwise we love it.
Friendly welcome and great Sunday lunch. We booked for Mother’s Day so the pub was a little crowded. We will definitely return for another meal.
An excellent meal in a fantastic setting. Staff very friendly; we were made to feel really welcome. Will definitely be back.
A fantastic setting a wonderful meal , staff were very friendly and helpful . One minor thing because it was busy sometimes the number of staff were struggling to keep up and sometimes quite a wait. But overall exemplary
A great Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday with friends. Good food, plenty of it, staff very attentive and ambience food.
Very enjoyable meal with friends. We had lamb shoulder - perfectly acceptable apart from the veg in the dish was under cooked .
Great pub to visit, loads of parking, lovely setting with a cosy feel. Food is very good, substantial portions and reasonably priced. The service was excellent, the waitress was extremely attentive and very knowledgeable. Will definitely return!
Fabulous Sunday lunch again! Often bring visiting friends and family here.
Great pub that we enjoy very much. Service super and food tasty and wholesome. Always seems to have a nice atmosphere even at lunch in the week.
Amazing food and best sticky toffee pudding I've had!!!
A must visit ..... redeemed as I think the landlady is once again running the helm.....
Lovely food and atmosphere, very friendly staff, would like to see a little more vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu! But will definitely return :)
Quaint venue, nice ambience with polite staff and good service.
Went here for Sunday lunch with a friend. We live locally but had not been before. The food was lovely and what a treat to be able to have a mixed roast! It’s a small thing but our table was quite close to the bar and I was conscious that my friend, who was seated with her back to the bar, had her space encroached on a little by those people standing at it - so I would opt for a different table next time. Would recommend for Sunday lunch.
A great venue and ambiance.
We were extremely well looked after by the staff. The food was excellent.
Our only concern was when paying the bill
and had we not checked ,an extra meal was added to our account!
A matter for staff training/organisation?
Others a great experience.
First visit here and pleasantly surprised, beautiful old pub, friendly staff and food is really good. We were a group of 5 with 1 being a child, all had different meals and all cooked really well. Good wine list too. Will definitely be back to try a Sunday roast.
Very happy to return to the Red Lion and to bring along other family members, including our dog, for the first time. We all had a great time, with great food and are sure to be back. Thank you.
Excellent meal and overall service. Would recommend to anyone.
Fabulous food! And friendly helpful service. Will definitely be visiting again.
Wonderful setting,polite friendly staff,fantastic food.
Can’t wait to go back.
Nice Sunday Lunch, nice setting, lovely interior - recommended
