The Red Lion Hernhill
Country, Family Run, Good Quality food - On the green overlooking the church - large beer garden with play area.
The staff make this dinning experience so much more than just great food. Always a pleasure to dine here :-)
You can't make a second "first impression".
My first impression from the reception we received upon entering the pub to take up our booking for Sunday lunch was " we're so successful we don't care".
Comments (x2) of "next time" don't go down well!
What "next time"?
If the first time doesn't please you why have a second shot? At my expense!
This is a very popular pub that thinks its getting it right.
It obviously appeals to many people but I think it should offer a more customer faced approach.
Must do better!
Lovely atmosphere food very good loved the open fires had a round window table excellant as we had as all child will definetly come again loved it
As ever The Red Lion provided the family with a delicious Saturday lunch, (fabulous chips too), a great place to visit after a walk, the staff as always were very welcoming and gave us a great service - dog friendly to boot! Thank you
Lovely country pub in the heart of a quaint Kent village. Been here on many occasions but the first time over Christmas. The pub was beautifully decorated and the food was fabulous (especially the sticky toffee pudding).
We love the Red Lion and always eat there when in the area, especially for a Sunday roast. Puds are yummy. Lovely service and great atmosphere around the bar.
I love the cosy, friendly atmosphere of the Red Lion: my friend and I go regularly and always get a warm welcome. There is a good choice of food - and the desserts are superb!!
The food was absolutely delicious and they could not have been more accommodating with our dietary requirements and slightly off-menu requests! It was such a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Excellent sunday lunch in a beautiful 14th century building. Not cheap though. Service was very good especially given how busy it was
Best Sunday Roast Dinner!
And homemade puddings, lovely coffee, cosy with log fires.. what more can you wish for!
Sunday lunch - outstanding as ever, delicious beef, massive Yorkshire puddings and tasty veg.... not to mention the fantastic chocolate brownie pudding! Staff, as always - excellent!
First time at the pub and we had a lovely lunch. Very friendly service and happy for us to bring our dogs. It’s cosy and attractive inside and the garden looks great too. Would definitely recommend.
Brilliant as always, lovely welcome, great service, food. A good wine list. Dogs are welcome. The perfect country pub.
What a lovely pub. We were a group of friends in the area for the day and very luckily found this pub in advance and booked a table. Great food, beautiful venue, friendly staff. If in the area again, we will return!
Lovely food, well worth the wait (though there was a little wait!) - both mains and desserts were excellent
Lovely food, very excellent service and a lovely atmosphere
Already commented on trip advisor ..... dramatic change.... oh dear !!!!!
Great Sunday lunch. Warm & cosy pub! Parking is a little limited for the amount of tables though
Sadly this was not a good dining experience. Our party of four arrived at 12.30, in good time for what is usually a busy Sunday lunchtime. We shared starters and then waited an hour for our main meals without any apologies for the delay from staff. Eventually when we asked, two of the four meals were cold and had to be sent back. We had to ask to see the Manager, rather than him addressing the issue in good time. They did knock the two meals from the bill, but it wasn’t a good experience. It is very unusual for me to complain, but in this case, there wasn’t an option.
Another perfect family meal, thankyou
Slow service, missing cutlery, reminder on drinks.
Food very good
Felt a bit tucked away in the corner upstairs, would prefer to have been in bar
The food and drink was good and service was prompt, but unfortunately there were far to many people packed into a small area around the bar, making it very noisy and difficult to have a conversation.
I think it would be fine in the week but I would not recommend on a weekend, especially a Sunday.
Very enjoyable Saturday lunch in a lovely pub
A favourite pub of ours lived up to expectations! A very enjoyable evening.
Fabulous Sunday roast, service outstanding atmosphere delightful
This is a must for any day of the week truly wonderful, looking forward to returning
Great pub restaurant. Friendly service and really good food, The Red lion never disappoints!
I would recommend! However, we were sat right opposite the bar and it was so noisey! The other side in the restaurant area looked a lot quieter!
having booked lunch online very easily, we found that on arrival we was looked after from start to finish, also the pub had a jazz band on outside, excellent location perfect lunch
Had a meal twice here in one week. Everyone was helpful and very friendly. Land lady was exceptional helpful and welcoming.
Family run, hide away, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic staff and always incredibly helpful, will continue to go here and recommend to everyone.
Excellent food and beer. Will definitely dine there again soon.
Very good food, dog friendly and excellent service
The servers were friendly and attentive. The food, took a while to get to us, but everything seemed made to order and not heated up. Between us, we had the Scotch Egg to share as a starter, you have to try if that’s something you’d go for.
I had the Steak and Mushroom pie, which was fantastic, great suet pastry, good old fashioned taste, so glad I ordered.
The rest of the party enjoy a ploughman’s platter and the Cod.
What a fantastic, fun and friendly environment.
Wish I had a dog to bring along, as being dog friendly made it even more inviting.
Hope to be back for Sunday Jazz sometime soon.
Thanks to ALL.
Excellent meal for 4 good service and lovely atmosphere.
Lovely pub in a village setting....home cooked food was good with something for everyone.
Stunning historic pub, with amazing food, and a great selection of drink
very ordinary meal cost circa £40 a head-not worth it
Excellent character pub with excellent food. Five star
Lovely pub - second time of eating here and it won't be the last :) Great food, great service, friendly staff (always a bonus!) will definitely be back.
Lovely food. Had steak and onion pie. Delicious. The green veg were cooked to perfection.
