We reserved a table for 7 for our sons 13th birthday for 5:00 pm. They only had one server working at 5:00 when we arrived, so we were advised we needed to wait for another server before we would be seated. After we were seated and had our drinks we were asked our orders. We decided on a bunch of appetizers and one main (ribs and fries) for everyone to share. Our waitress did not like the idea of appetizers being ordered told us it would be better to order pizzas for 7 people as it’s easier. I thanked her for the suggestion but we didn’t want pizza. The food came quickly but never were we offered desert or anything special for the 13th Birthday Boy even though I put in our reservation that we were celebrating his 13th birthday.
While our server was friendly, she paid absolutely no attention to us. It wasn’t busy and yet she hardly looked after us. The food was a joke - in this day and age to not offer a gluten free alternative for simple things like ordering a dip - you don’t carry fresh veggies!?
Incredibly poor dining experience.
We were there on a Thursday evening. It wasn't very busy but the service was so slow and the server did not seem very interested in serving our group of 8 we had to always flag her down to refill drinks. (We also had to help another table flag her down so they could order because she kept walking by and not looking!)
When we ordered dinner, she brought 7/8 meals and one person was left waiting 15 mins for their dinner (which ironically was a salad). How is that even possible?
They also had a promotion going on where you get 2 free movie passes if you spend $55 or more on food. Obviously, with 8 people we exceeded that by a mile. Even though I had discussed with the server at the beginning of the night when it came time to pay the bill she didn't bring any movie tickets and said she forgot and had to go get her manager to do it for us. Very frustrating experience.
Had a few friends join me there saturday for my birthday. I had a friend following around taking pictures. Then a manager went to him and told him no pictures and he explained that only my party is in the photos, the manager let it slide. Now what I don't understand is that you don't tell other patrons to put away their phones when they're snapchatting/recording viodeos/taking pictures etc. Are there any signs posted about no photography? If so, camera phone photos shouldn't be allowed either.
The noise is very loud you have to yell at the person across the table to have a conversation.
Reservation wasn’t honoured upon arrival. Luckily spoke with the manager (Ryan) who was able to sort everything out.
Went here for the raptors viewing party, and it was awesome!
Was not happy with the food quality from dinner and movie deal rest was okay
This was the worst experience. Over 60 people left at the same time as us. Rec room advertised that they were showing the Champions League final and then decided since it was PPV they won't. They pulled this stunt at the last minute. Completely unacceptable.
Went around 9pm on a Monday night and it wasn’t busy at all. That being said, there was only one server (in training) and it took really long to first get our drinks, then our food, and later the bill. Felt like we were constantly waiting around for someone to help us out and the few other customers there. The food and ambience were good and we kept ourselves busy to pass the time. Not bad overall for a chill spot to grab a bite to eat and play some games.
We went for the Mother’s Day brunch. The food was delicious, however it is overpriced for the location. I found the prices for a mimosa or non alcoholic mimosa to be far too much. It really didn’t feel like a special brunch except for the menu design.
Our server wasn’t very personable and seemed irritated should we have a request. Overall I would eat here again but as a complete one off rather than a planned meal.
Fun place to go with the family. The food was tasty (while a little cold) and showed up relatively quickly. having a place to unwind a bit after dinner was nice as well. We were with another family and kept losing them in the crowd around the machines. Some areas were a bit too crowded and made it hard to play the games without bumping into each other. The kids loved picking out prizes after all their hard work ;). Will definitely be back.
We love the concept of The Rec room but the food quality is quite poor. For example wilted lettuce ,not enough flavour, very little toppings on pizza. In the future we will eat at a neighbouring restaurant before coming.
server was slow; never brought us our second drink; food didn’t have much flavor.
Its a fun place for drinks and games with friends. However the menu (food and drink) were very overpriced. It’s an expensive night out if you decide to dine here.
Came on a Saturday night, so it was bumpin'. Boyfriend had the fish and chips. Or should I say, had batter and chips. Very thick batter, super greasy and had oil pooled in on side of the fish. I had the burger. Nothing special at all. Have to pay if you want cheese and bacon. Fries tasted like they sat out for two days. Friends ordered both types of mac and cheese. Also, they gave it 2/10. Not worth the price and didn't taste like there was any cheese used. Also, the water bottles they give at the beginning were very dirty and had a disgusting amount of hard water stains.
Nice atmosphere, the waitress was less than friendly or attentive, we were definitely "just another face" to her. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich.....it was sweet not spicy. Ordered the other chicken sandwich and it was made with chicken thighs.....less than impressed with that considering the price. Had fun at the Rec Room but will eat elsewhere next time then go play there
Server was very slow...there were not many customers in the restaurant. Kept forgetting to bring items that we had ordered. Brought the receipt and we waited another 20 minutes until we were finally able to flag her down and ask for a debit machine to pay our bill. Will most likely never go back here again!!!
It was Family Day weekend & very busy. I am glad I made online reservations however it showed as 2 but i had tried to change it online to 6 but to no avail. They did accommodate us however! The noise level is high but expected as it is a Rec Room! All in all a very great time!
The food is bland, what we had anyway. Some things are way to overpriced for what you get and others you got more than expected.
Our server was amazing especially considering how many tables he had. It was nice for the kids to be able to play games and go back and forth (big and small kids)
Overall the food was just okay and the service was below average. Our drinks were not filled unless we made a point of asking after they were empty for a long time. Our meals came out with lettuce for example after we asked for no lettuce. We ordered a kids meal and never did get the dessert we paid for. Also the waitress needed to have better personal hygiene. Was our first time eating there and as a below satisfactory experience.
I would recommend The Rec Food for the games... but the food is sub par.
Fun place to go with family. Great entertainment. Good sports bar.
The Three10 burger is the best burger in Edmonton. However, the service is generally bad. There are a few servers who are amazing but many of the rest are often lazy.
The host staff try to dissuade my wife and i from sitting at tables, instead always directing us to the bar. They get upset when we politely refuse to sit at the bar.
I have seen staff on numerous occasions eat the popcorn directly from the bin instead of scooping into a bag.
My last visit i waited 10 minutes for my server and after ordering waited 25 minutes for my food.
My Sprite was semi flat.
And the bun on the burger was toasted too much while the bottom was soggy.
Trying to get ketchup is an ordeal.
I love the food but serious work needs to be done to improve service.
$15 appetizer “nacho stack” size of my palm and I’m a petite lady so not worth the price-not shareable
Waitress was only molderatlely friendly when we were about to pay/tip- had to ask other staff to get her after waiting 30 minutes to get our bill after finishing our meal and it wasn’t that busy
Made reservations for a booth and they sat us at high chairs and when I asked the booth they said they didn’t have any free but there were plenty empty one that hadn’t been cleaned.
Drinks weren’t refilled when empty
Part of my meal (Rainbow bowl)was missing an ingredient and when I mentioned that it was supposed to have spirilized zucchini- she didn’t apologize just went and brought me a a small bowl of sliced zucchini. Not a big deal but kind of misses the mark. Charged an additional $11 dollars to add farmed salmon that was 1 inch by 3inches. So $23 for rainbow bowl.. Husband was not super impressed with his meal either. The fries were good I guess. Small appetizer, 2 unsatisfying meals, 2 beers(no complaints from my hubby there haha), a virgin Caesar that I couldn’t finish because it was gross, and one pop was $100. Definitely recommend elsewhere
group of 5 attended for a get together. Prices on the menu seemed high, and when we received the nacho appetizer, could not believe the poor quality and very minimal amount of food offered for the price. ordered side of chicken which was an additional $8. Complained to manager that this was not what we thought it would be. She offered us the option to order something else but we chose not to.
Waitress took away the calamari before we were done with it.
Poor service, had to keep asking for our waitress.
Bill came, was not divided as asked, and was charged for the nacho appetizer. We had to wait 10 mins for bills to get fixed in order to pay.
Very disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant.
At several points it seemed there were not enough staff on duty which led to delays and some missed activities like the VR. Food was ok; no one in our group liked the cheese sauce. The stacked chips were expensive for what it was in the end. Wouldn’t order that again or recommend it.
Service was not good. Only way to get service was to stop someone in their tracks and ask for service. Wrong dishes were brought out for appetizers and for dinner. Portions were not worth the money. After we were done eating, the staff continued to bring other tables food to our table, which if you want to give us free food fine... but that it someone else's dinner.
Food was terrible and I need to describe that in at least 50 characters. Here we go: The food was terrible.
The food is just okay and a somewhat overpriced for what you get. On the positive side, the entertainment options (table tennis, bowling, virtual reality, arcade games) are very good and seem reasonably priced. I'll return for the activities but won't be ordering an expensive meal next time.
Our hostess was great. She was super friendly and seated us for our reservation early. She brought us popcorn and water. Once seated we sat for 25 minutes and Noone acknowledged us. We finally got up and left and still were not acknowledged by anyone in the restaurant. On the way out the door I told the hostess how displeased I was with the lack of service in the restaurant.
There were no pool tables or ping pong tables available all night due to a group booking. However, all pool tables and ping pong tables were not being used for over an hour while we were there. You shouldn’t be able to book them and not use them. Come up with a better system
Went there for a work Christmas party. The food was aweful. The service was so slow it was painful. When we asked if we could go check our the games we were told they would give away our table, even though there were only 4 tables in the entir restaurant in use. Won't be going back. It really was disappointing.
Great environment, and server was very pleasant. It just felt like servers are heavily limited on how fast they can serve tables based on bartender output and kitchen turnaround times.
If there were more bartenders and kitchen staff on then the servers on shift could handle even more tables than they currently are able to do.
It’s awful. I went to booked a reservation to celebrate my birthday and my husband birthday. We came at 5pm we we’re brought to our chair right away however we waited for so long to take our order. We waited 30 mins my kids our hungry and my Mother in law is diabetic. We talked to one server and said someone will be there we waited no one came. We waited for almost 30 mins for the server to come and get our order. Then she got the order and it took another 15-20 mins the food to arrived. We started eating then the server did not show up anymore to refill the drinks and coffee. It was very disappointing. They offer a free dessert however because the server did not show up we decided to get the bill. We paid and go. It ruined our night, we’re not able to celebrate our birthday due to disappointment. Big establishment but no organization. Waste of money.
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear about your service as this isn't the standards we hold ourselves to. We's appreciate the opportunity to look into your experience further if you could please provide us with your contact info our management team would love to reach out. Thanks a bunch!
The host sat me and I sat for 25 minutes before the server came over, she then asked if I just came in and sat myself (as though i shouldn't have been there). She took my drink order and left.
15 minutes later a different server came and took my drink order again as the first server must have forgot about me.
I ordered the sirloin, it was arrived well done (i had ordered med-rare), it was unseasoned and just a dried out piece of meat. The server did not come around to see how the meal was.
The meal was awful and the service was worse.
It is a complete mystery about the service in this place. It’s almost like they know everyone will come here anyways for the games and atmosphere so they don’t bother with service. Account for at least 15 minutes to get each drink and at least an hour to receive food.
Tons of activity and so much to entertain you. Menu has lots of great options and service was fantastic!
I have had their food before, the chicken wings and fried chicken sandwich are to die for but their brunch was awful. The menu was pretty limited for options in my opinion. I decided to go with the Smoked Salmon Benedict. It only came with 3 “smashed potatoes” and an overly dressed salad. The smoked salmon was good but something about this meal made me feel literally ill. The eggs were cooked to perfection though, I got the classic yolk drip when cut open.
Service was pretty mediocre as well. Our server was polite but slow. It also took longer than expected for us to get our food and the restaurant was not busy when we were there. I ordered a green tea and my pot of “hot” water was just warm. Definitely unsatiafied with my first brunch experience at The Rec Room and I probably will only go back for the fried chicken.
This is the restaurant you want to go to for fun and games and appetizers. Dinner was a bit ho-hum.
