The Promenade Café - Hyatt Hotel Canberra
Started with cocktails at Griffin's: Friendly and accomodating barman made great effort to create lamington cocktail for my wife, which got a "beautiful" rating from her. Excellent service.
Then dinner at the Promenade Cafe: Superb service, very cosy booth and the most helpful waitress and chef I have encountered. Two excellent meals, wonderful wine and very reasonable price for the quality.
Finished at The Tea Lounge: Excellent service, delicious cake and coffee in relaxed surrounds.
Staff are very helpful, always with a smile .
Great food and service. Went on the seafood night, but only one hot seafood dish offered. Harissa Ling. Would have liked some chowder, hot salmon or seafood mornay dish. Still, beautiful oysters snd prawns.
Food very poor! Value for money nil!!
Would never eat there again.
We had our wedding lunch here and a year later came back for an anniversary dinner. The seafood buffet was excellent. Prawns, oysters and crab was fresh, sweet and succulent.
As Muslims, we were impressed that all the meat is halal, although there was one pork dish. Even the desserts use halal gelatin and are alcohol free.
The atmosphere is exceptional
Dessert and the sea food buffet were remarkable
Salad bar was very good
The roast potatoes with bacon and roast pork were delicious
Service was good; staff were very friendly, helpful and polite
The hot food buffet could do with a little more flavour.
Price is reasonable for the variety of food provided and service. Round it up to $80. $78 is an unbalanced figure.
Excellent seafood buffet, always very good. Hot buffet was a bit ordinary, needs inspiration. Dessert buffet also very good.
I decided to take my daughter for a special treat for her birthday and ordered from the buffet. I would recommend the Hyatt as they have that “wow” factor with friendly well trained staff.
My wife and I chose the Hyatt Hotel Canberra to celebrate her birthday. The ambiance was unique and the staff very warm and welcoming.
The food was first class, as was the wine.
We were delighted when a waitress brought a birthday cake slice, on the house’ and sang ‘happy birthday’ to Heather. In all a special ocassion leaving great memories.
Enjoyed the meal but was not well when I returned home. Something, not identified, upset my system. Still feeling a bit wobbly.
We've been there four times for the seafood buffet. Love it!
We were at the late sitting on a Friday night and some of the dishes on the buffet were either finished or not much left. The quality of the food was very good and we enjoyed celebrating a milestone birthday there.
Had same waiter the whole night who done a amazing job at keeping our glasses full and taking empty plates once finished. Our waiter went out of his way to find the answer to our question.
The food was unreal worth every cent spent.
Great freindly staff, food fresh, replentished, comfprtable seating, good atmosphere
Having eaten at the promenade cafe many times we were very disappointed this time given the price the seafood selection was average and this was seafood night the prawns were fresh but tasteless the salmon was dry we had to wait for plates at the buffet to be topped up a waitress told us she would bring a plate of prawns to our table she forgot both the salad and dessert bar selection was well below what we’ve had in the past our previous dining experience had been faultless this was disappointing for us and the Hyatt
The salmon is wonderful. I don't know what the chef does :-)
There was a great variety of food to suit all tastes. They food was topped up regularly. There was a great selection of sea food, salads, make your own salad bar, hot food, home made soup and fresh crusty bread and the deserts were amazing. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. The dining room was beautifully presented, clean and well maintained.
Our dining experience was exceptional. The variety of the buffet was amazing and thoroughly enjoyable
Nice meals and recommend for Buffet. I do really enjoy having Buffet there..
The buffet was value for money with a wide selection of quality foods. You could have a 5 course meal. Plenty of choice and you can 'build' your own salad or dessert if you want. Staff were attentive.
Service was excellent, seafood fresh and delicious ❤️
We initially booked for the seafood buffet (on a Friday night) and were later told that, as it was the festive season, it would include the carvery buffet. Seafood buffet was disappointing - very limited range with bland prawns and tasteless mussels. The "asian" bench had a very tasty lamb dish and an excellent "Moroccan chicken" dish. Only two choices at the carvery - baked ham and turkey. Wide choice of desserts.
Friendly staff and nice decor. Not good value for money, however, at $80 a head.
We have dined at the Promenade Cafe on many occasions.
The food, service and atmosphere is very special.
Seafood lovers will enjoy.
It was a nice seafood buffet dinner for 2. Service was great, food was good. Only desert bar was not exciting.
An appropriately placed table for 10 people. A good variety of dishes to suit all. Efficient, friendly, unobtrusive service by waiting staff & helpful with organising payment of bill at the end of the evening. Thank you!
Thank you for the little birthday cake for my dad. He was very surprised and made his night.
Great food and personalised service.
Our dinner experience was far from good.
We ate at the Promenade. Our starters of bread! (on a Sunday night - not busy) took way too long to come out, and our mains which were a big disappointment came out 5 mins later. The staff were not attentive - I should not have to ask to have water topped up! The food was very average. My chicken was quite dry and my husbands steak was very chewy (not $40 worth) The staff did not seem to understand English all that well. Would not recommend for dinner.
We went to experience the seafood buffet but came away bitterly disappointed, very little variety more salad choice than seafood. It ended up being a very expensive dessert cart. Would not recommend
We had a 4 meals here - and they were all fabulous! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will make it our number 1 priority on our return
Here for seafood.
Seafood buffet- no prawns
They then told us to have regular buffet.
Regular buffet - no pork
Spent the whole night not eating and negotiating with the staff. End of the night the executive chef can to apologise and said he’d call to discuss. No call.
Unprofessional staff with no ability to make decisions. Kept calling their boss everything I spoke with them.
Overall my bday dinner was crap! And didn’t get a chance to spend some time at dinner with my family.
The staff very friendly, helpful and charming.
Hot buffet and deserts very good. Given the theme was seafood buffet night, the seafood was actually only a cold buffet. A lot of the dishes were a bit uninspiring. Some more exotic hot seafood dishes, given this was the Hyatt, would have been more satisfying. Pastry chef and deserts chef obviously knew his stuff. Booth seating was lovely ambiance. Staff were good, but as it got busy they seemed to disappear. Having to ask for spent dishes to be cleared a bit disappointi
The food was amazing.
The service was amazing.
The venue was amazing.
I will definitely be returning for another unique experience.
My husband and I spent the night at The Hyatt celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The dinner at The Promenade was excellent as too the breakfast.
Can recommend for both variety and freshness of food plus the service was exceptional.
The buffet was good. Fresh oysters, mussels & prawns. Nice selection of salads, cheese, desserts & hot food
We were there for the Moroccan themed buffet night and it was delicious and offered great choice.
As there were 2 children l found the food was not suitable for a family.. and we paid good money for the meal when my son ate Rice and bread as the hot of the food was too spicy. Would never come back as a family.. which is a shame
Waitress wasn’t smile on face not provide finger bowls given small round table for 4 people I have requested for swuare table but she said this is only we have actually restaurant was rmpty.
Food quality wasn’t good as usal.
I booked for a special occasion (60th Birthday) and was not told it was Christmas in July. So it was very crowded and noisy.
