The Promenade Café - Hyatt Hotel Canberra
Have had previous enjoyable dining experiences at the seafood buffet, but last night both my partner and I were violently ill from the food. My partner was sick in the bathroom before we had finished our desert and myself when I returned home.
Overall, a very good experience.
poor and slightly dry and old food
Have been dining at the Promenade for special occasions for almost as long as the café has been in existence, many years. The food and service has always been first rate.
I have been there 4 times now and the Sunday buffet hasn’t changed at all. Still have the same tortellini and similar other main courses as well as the dessert bar. It would be lovely to see different food.
Excellent service and buffet food was good.
We had dinner here a few years ago and restaurant seemed to have dropped in standard significantly.
Brilliant place to have a meal.
Thank you Stuart for looking after us so well !!!
The Promenade cafe is consistently very good. We went for the seafood buffet which has salmon, octopus, prawns, mussels and oysters. Mussels were slightly disappointing (but it might be that the cooks are using less salt, which is a good thing, I suppose). Main buffet is excellent and the dessert buffet is stunning.
* Lovely venue - first time with the children
* A good selection of food - attempting to get the children to try a variety of new foods and tastes.
* Excellent service.
We've been to the Promenade many times. The food and setting are always great. On this occasion Stuart was fantastic - he was attentive, humorous, friendly. Unfortunately, the woman who 'greeted' us was rude, with no smile or 'hello'; instead telling me she'd 'phoned many times'. I had no record on my phone of the first call she mentioned; the other 2 were 10 minutes apart on the morning of the booking - I'd called back to confirm. A disappointing start to an otherwise lovely lunch.
Good food, excellent service in a very pleasant environment
I made a booking which was quite clear. Please put us the opposite end of the kitchen. Instead we were put right next to the kitchen. Not good enough. Also your drink service as usual was applying.
Excellent service and ambiance. Food was really tasty.
Selection was broad.
Fantastic quality and variety of options. Lots of gluten free options that were clearly labelled. Service was very good and a nice quiet atmosphere that suited us perfectly.
Great wine list too!
This is one of our favourite places to eat in Canberra. Fresh food, great service.
Lovely food but very loud acoustics so was not what I’d recommend for a romantic date night. Better suited for a catch up with friends or a birthday party.
The service was quite good but very disappointed with the main course food available. Not much variety with the fried rice being bland, the satay chicken not very satay, the fish and meat didn't look very appetising.
Salads and entrée were quite nice and there was good variety with the desserts.
We had a really nice wine.
We had to adjust our numbers for the night and I did this through Open table and yet this message didn't seem to get to the Promenade Café.
It was a good night apart from this.
1st time we ever left diabetic son in someone else’s care (first time out this year without kids). Seated at table for two so close to group of twenty my wife was jostled constantly by people getting up and down.
Host seated us said he’d take a drinks order and left (didn’t push my wife’s chair in. 20mins till waiter noticed, order drinks. Wine poured with bottle touching rim of glass (seriously? This IS the Hyatt right?). Food okay, not Hyatt quality. Chocolate fountain watery. Dissapointed!
Overall a most enjoyable experience right through, from initial booking to departure following payment.
The atmosphere, the staff, the menu (options) and quality of the food provided all highly commendable.
Helped to make a special family celebration even more special and memorable.
Very disappointed with the food. I think it might because of management change. It cost us $150 for a three persons’ buffet, but the food quality was so much lower than before. I would not go back again.
Great service and food.
Food was very nice except I booked for 1pm and there was limited food available by 1.30pm and 3/4 dessert was empty. I mentioned the chocolate mousse was not available and was provided with more but staff did not put any of the other dessert dishes out. I think there was piped music which made conversation very difficult. I love the Hyatt and wanted to bring a friend from interstate so was a bit disappointed but hope to go again.
We went for the Seafood Buffet at $78 each. A very poor selection, mostly simply prawns and crabs boiled and on a plate. Not good value in terms of selection or presentation. Would not recommend.
We came to the Hyatt Hotel & Promanade Cafe to celebrate 45 years of marriage & overcoming numerous health issues. The only feedback I can provide to you, my friends, & family is that the food was terrible & we regret staying at the hotel. I also regret the amount of money our kids spent organising this stay & wish they had sent us elsewhere. The roast lamb was serverly raw & there was a lack of meat variety on the menu. The buffet also lacked any variety & seemed poorly structured. Dissapointed
Friendly and helpful staff, food was plentiful and very tasty. Not too noisy.
Always happy when we have a girls night at the Hyatt, Love the food, lots to choose from. Would like to see Potato's on a Thursday night not just on Friday and Saturday nights
A good place to relax after the excitement of a stimulating talk in the Canberra Room. For this solo diner, the dinner buffet selection is very good and the choices of wine by the glass more than adequate. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant and the staff courteous and helpful. High tea is another experience I highly recommend as a perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon with friends.
That a welcoming drink and tea and coffee were not included in the exorbitant Fathers’s Day lunch @ $85 a person was most disappointing and parsimonious.
I wouldn't be dining here again as the quality of the buffet was extremely poor and relatively NOTHING for young children to eat. (We had to buy from the kids menu and the chicken sticks were that hard and dry they were inedible). Roast pork extremely fatty and the crackle rubbery. Not enough sides to go with roasts.
Nice relaxing atmosphere fine food and fine service friendly staff that look after all your needs
Extremely happy with service. My wife was celebrating a birthday and was certainly surprised when cake with"happy Birthday' was sung by staff and patrons
Exceeded my expectations! The meal was a taste sensation and the service second to none. Could not fault the evening. Everything was perfect and cannot wait to dine there again
We have been to this venue a couple of times a year for special occasions. The food selections have dropped and this time the service was a bit lacking. We ordered cocktails when we arrived and it took around 20 minutes for them to be delivered.
Nice relaxed. Good food
The Promenade Café is a very pleasant venue, the food is good and the service is excellent. However dining would be vastly improved if the plates for the hot dishes were warm. Good restaurants are equipped with some sort of plate-warming equipment. Cold plates make hot food cold very quickly.
Good quality food, could be better for vegetarians, efficient staff and nice setting
