The Press Club
It's unmistakably fine dining, complete with tasting menus and à la carte options on select days.
But remember it's George Calombaris, it’s playful, not pretentious, we never forget the true relaxed spirit of Greek hospitality.
It was a fantastic experience, the degistation menu with the paired wine was stunning, food was glorious and was served with some real theater. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone that is after that little something special
It was a great experience to have the tasting menu and the accompanying wine journey. The staff is vert friendly. When we left we received a printed version of the menu!
This is fine dining at it’s best with an attentive service. It has a wonderful story to the menu.
Great experience wit excellent food and services
Chose this due to our Australian Masterchef addiction. Seemed to get lots of reminders and checks to confirm we were still going which was marginally annoying but if the place is really popular is understandable.
Room very small and discreet, service attentive bordering on OTT. Very pretentious explanations of all the seemingly deliberate outré “ Greekish” words on the menu, the wines provenance etc etc.
The meal itself was fine but not stand out. Produce itself was excellent.
Excellent lived up to expectations.
Service was exceptional.
Was ok. I did expect more
Lovely special degustation for our anniversary. Food and service excellent.
Excellent, suburb experience, fantastic food and great night
An amazing lifetime experience from the moment we arrived. Every member of the staff were lovely, generous in their conversation and expertise. The food was Devine and the wines to die for. The chance to meet the chefs at the end topped off an extraordinary evening. Thank you for the memorable experience.
Great food great wine. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very knowledgable staff and very friendly. Great service. Would love to come back and recommend the restaurant warmly
Thanks for a magic evening
The service is friendly, experienced and knowledgeable about my requirements.
We went with the degustation menu. It is a true tour through an eating experiance. There is no description on the menu as the anticipation of the next fantastic dish is part of the experiance. The detail which the staff are able to explain the basis of the dish and it background show their love for their role in tge production.
Our favourite dish was the quail. The flavours were delicate and perfectly balanced.
It was absolutely superb!!! The most exquisite experience.
Really special night out Thanks George!
Great night out and food and service was superb.
We attended The Press Club for my wife’s birthday, so it was a special occasion. We felt at home from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drink. They were attentive but not annoying. One particular young man with blonde hair (didn’t catch his name) looked after us for most of our lunch and was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food was incredible - flavours that neither of us had really tried before but were amazing!
Great dining. Great food. Great service. Inventive whiskey cocktails even when they aren’t on the menu!
The way how the dishes were presented and served was great (the "theatre")! you could really see and feel the amount of time and care that had been out to develop the dishes! The service was very good and all your needs were attended before you even had to think of it. Truly an awesome experience!
Excellent food. So much preparation - immaculate ingredients and technique.
Attention to detail and time in plating - fabulous!
Service was impeccable,professional and unobtrusive.
Great food and wine - with excellent decor and service. Totally recommend the Press Club.
Food excellent, chef friendly explained menu. Had tasting menu which was excellent but .. the paired wines did not enhance the food and were of poor quality. The semilliar was excellent in knowledge but was not aware that Fever Tree Tonic was on the drinks menu. Difficult at times to understand the food waiter.
Not only was the food of high quality it was varied and highly imaginative. We had the 12 course degustation menu which was uniformly excellent but with a few outstanding dishes. All the dishes were well explained by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. The wine list is extensive and the smaller wine-by-the-glas list was again very good with a small but good selection of wines.
The 12 courses were served with good timing such that we were never rushed and had plenty of time to talk.
Quite simply perfect. Amazing service and fantastic food. We travelled 12,000 miles to go to the Press Club; it was worth it!
Fabulous meal. A story behind every dish. Our taste buds are still singing. Our waiter ‘rocked’! Friendly, courteous, impeccable service. And what a surprise - to be invited downstairs to meet the executive chef & his team. It was worth the trip from Brissy. We loved it
I knew Press Club was going to be special and my expectations were exceeded. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and informative, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and fun.
Having decided on the 6 course option we were presented with h what seemed a lot more.
Loved every moment.
The food and service experience was amazing. My wife is particular about what she eats and she ate everything that was served. The Press Club should be on everyone's bucket list when visiting Melbourne
Exceptional food and wine (we chose the 7 course degustation menu with wine pairings for dinner) combined with very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service. Certainly lived up to our expectation and restaurant reputation.
The service was great
The food looked impressive but not tasteful
The food was exquisitely prepared but for all the presentation, the taste was just ok. Moderate flavour, no surprises. We had the degustation at the original Press Club which remains one of the most outstanding meals I’ve had. This was just so-so and I’d mark it down harder out of regard for what Press Club used to be.
Fantastic, this is not just a place to have a meal, its a place to have an experience. The food, including the presentation, was excellent. The Wine matches were perfect. The customer service was great, with good commentary about both the food and the wine. We were well looked after and it was a highlight of our trip to Melbourne. We'll certainly be recommending to our friends and associates.Well done!!
The food was amazing and the staff were great. You can let them know if there’s anything you don’t want and they’ll avoid it.
It was the first high rate gourmet restaurant we have been until now. We find it because of master chef Australia. It was possibly the best dinner ever
Simply amazing food
Dinner for two on a rainy Melbourne evening.
First time to the Press Club, and we were not disappointed.
From greeting to seating, briefing and service it was a special evening.
We did the 5 course tasting menu, with some recommended wines to compliment the food.
Brad gave us excellent and informative service all evening, and the courses were delightful and the timing of service and impeccable.
Highly recommended for a special occasion
Loved everything about our experience. Will definitely be back and would highly reccommend to others.
Service was outstanding and food was 10/10. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu to try some different things. This is a fun way to enjoy the food where each dish is a surprise. Everything was tasty, cooked perfectly & presentation was creative. They put their own unique spin on Greek dishes and create a fusion of flavours that somehow works.
A little disappointed we have dined here before and had a much more pleasurable night the service was spot on but we found the amount of tasting was less quality fantastic but less then usual didn’t leave hungry just not satisfied (sorry) cheers Dave & Lila
when enetering the restaurant i felt welcomed and comfortable the service was impeccable and the food did not disappoint me at all, no wonder why george is a judge on masterchef the restaurants food was amazing, i’m slightly lactose intolerant but the dishes where worth it and id highly recommend the place and will be coming back
