The Press Club
The Press Club is an intimate, 32-seater with a fit out that's all curved leather booths and reflective surfaces.
It's unmistakably fine dining, complete with tasting menus and à la carte options on select days.
But remember it's George Calombaris, it’s playful, not pretentious, we never forget the true relaxed spirit of Greek hospitality.
Amazing food, 10 out of 10 is not high enough
Amazing staff, very attentive staff
Will definitely go back again next time in Melbourne
Excellent menu, most attentive staff I've ever had and fantastic attention to detail.
We had the most amazing evening. We were celebrating with our friends who are getting married on Saturday. The food was fantastic. Our friend has experienced a lot of great restaurants and said it was the best degustation menu he had experienced. The team were incredible and really made the experience special. Thanks to the team at the press club
Food was great a lot of favors
But the restaurant lacks atmosphere
No bar area for some pre drinks
Staff was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Service was exceptional and even gave us special services that was not expected. Food was the best I'd ever had. Will highly recommend!
This would have to have been one of my most memorable dinner experiences ever. It was our twentieth wedding anniversary and we dined there with friends.
Two of us were vegetarian and we were delighted with how this was catered for in the extensive degustation menu. We opted for the premium wine pairing and were impressed with the variety and choice of the offerings.
One small niggle was that we found some of the explanations by the wait staff difficult to follow as they spoke very quickly.
Excellent food really brilliant ideas and fantastic wine matching. Biggest let down: the two hour slot. For a Greek themed restaurant George should know what filoxenia (hospitality) is all about. Left a bit disappointed. Reviewing today in my head flavours - as there was no time to process/enjoy at dinner. Waiters pushing out wine/food. We were NOT relaxed. The sad bit was that we did not need to be rushed. There was plenty of space available. I wish I could do it again but much more relaxed.
Our experience at the Press Club was the best dining experience I have ever had - it beats dining experiences across Europe and Asia as well as Australia. I took my partner here for his birthday celebration and from the moment we stepped in the door to the moment we left, every element of the place from the service, food, atmosphere had been paid careful attention to. We 15 courses and flavour-changing cocktails (due to the ingenious ice cubes) - very well worth our money. Thankyou!
It was a fantastic experience, the degistation menu with the paired wine was stunning, food was glorious and was served with some real theater. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone that is after that little something special
It was a great experience to have the tasting menu and the accompanying wine journey. The staff is vert friendly. When we left we received a printed version of the menu!
This is fine dining at it’s best with an attentive service. It has a wonderful story to the menu.
Great experience wit excellent food and services
Chose this due to our Australian Masterchef addiction. Seemed to get lots of reminders and checks to confirm we were still going which was marginally annoying but if the place is really popular is understandable.
Room very small and discreet, service attentive bordering on OTT. Very pretentious explanations of all the seemingly deliberate outré “ Greekish” words on the menu, the wines provenance etc etc.
The meal itself was fine but not stand out. Produce itself was excellent.
Excellent lived up to expectations.
Service was exceptional.
Was ok. I did expect more
Lovely special degustation for our anniversary. Food and service excellent.
Excellent, suburb experience, fantastic food and great night
An amazing lifetime experience from the moment we arrived. Every member of the staff were lovely, generous in their conversation and expertise. The food was Devine and the wines to die for. The chance to meet the chefs at the end topped off an extraordinary evening. Thank you for the memorable experience.
Great food great wine. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very knowledgable staff and very friendly. Great service. Would love to come back and recommend the restaurant warmly
Thanks for a magic evening
The service is friendly, experienced and knowledgeable about my requirements.
We went with the degustation menu. It is a true tour through an eating experiance. There is no description on the menu as the anticipation of the next fantastic dish is part of the experiance. The detail which the staff are able to explain the basis of the dish and it background show their love for their role in tge production.
Our favourite dish was the quail. The flavours were delicate and perfectly balanced.
It was absolutely superb!!! The most exquisite experience.
Really special night out Thanks George!
Great night out and food and service was superb.
We attended The Press Club for my wife’s birthday, so it was a special occasion. We felt at home from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drink. They were attentive but not annoying. One particular young man with blonde hair (didn’t catch his name) looked after us for most of our lunch and was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food was incredible - flavours that neither of us had really tried before but were amazing!
Great dining. Great food. Great service. Inventive whiskey cocktails even when they aren’t on the menu!
The way how the dishes were presented and served was great (the "theatre")! you could really see and feel the amount of time and care that had been out to develop the dishes! The service was very good and all your needs were attended before you even had to think of it. Truly an awesome experience!
Excellent food. So much preparation - immaculate ingredients and technique.
Attention to detail and time in plating - fabulous!
Service was impeccable,professional and unobtrusive.
Great food and wine - with excellent decor and service. Totally recommend the Press Club.
Food excellent, chef friendly explained menu. Had tasting menu which was excellent but .. the paired wines did not enhance the food and were of poor quality. The semilliar was excellent in knowledge but was not aware that Fever Tree Tonic was on the drinks menu. Difficult at times to understand the food waiter.
Not only was the food of high quality it was varied and highly imaginative. We had the 12 course degustation menu which was uniformly excellent but with a few outstanding dishes. All the dishes were well explained by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. The wine list is extensive and the smaller wine-by-the-glas list was again very good with a small but good selection of wines.
The 12 courses were served with good timing such that we were never rushed and had plenty of time to talk.
Quite simply perfect. Amazing service and fantastic food. We travelled 12,000 miles to go to the Press Club; it was worth it!
Fabulous meal. A story behind every dish. Our taste buds are still singing. Our waiter ‘rocked’! Friendly, courteous, impeccable service. And what a surprise - to be invited downstairs to meet the executive chef & his team. It was worth the trip from Brissy. We loved it
I knew Press Club was going to be special and my expectations were exceeded. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and informative, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and fun.
Having decided on the 6 course option we were presented with h what seemed a lot more.
Loved every moment.
The food and service experience was amazing. My wife is particular about what she eats and she ate everything that was served. The Press Club should be on everyone's bucket list when visiting Melbourne
Exceptional food and wine (we chose the 7 course degustation menu with wine pairings for dinner) combined with very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service. Certainly lived up to our expectation and restaurant reputation.
The service was great
The food looked impressive but not tasteful
The food was exquisitely prepared but for all the presentation, the taste was just ok. Moderate flavour, no surprises. We had the degustation at the original Press Club which remains one of the most outstanding meals I’ve had. This was just so-so and I’d mark it down harder out of regard for what Press Club used to be.
Fantastic, this is not just a place to have a meal, its a place to have an experience. The food, including the presentation, was excellent. The Wine matches were perfect. The customer service was great, with good commentary about both the food and the wine. We were well looked after and it was a highlight of our trip to Melbourne. We'll certainly be recommending to our friends and associates.Well done!!
