The Press Club
The Press Club is an intimate, 32-seater with a fit out that's all curved leather booths and reflective surfaces.
It's unmistakably fine dining, complete with tasting menus and à la carte options on select days.
But remember it's George Calombaris, it’s playful, not pretentious, we never forget the true relaxed spirit of Greek hospitality.
Could not fault my experience at The Press Club, love the attention to detail and warm generous hospitality.
Wow. What an experience!
From the moment we walked through the door the experience was amazing.
The staff are all very knowledgable and friendly and make sure you’re enjoying your meal and have everything you could need.
I was in Melbourne for a mother son weekend to see Harry Potter and the whole team went above and beyond and created a special dessert and experience for my mum and I. I know that’s something mum will never forget and both felt very very special.
I personally enjoy watching George in the media however I and my wife were very underwhelmed with the food in the tasting menu. I found apart from one dish it to be boring and to be perfectly honest extremely over priced. Comparing with many other restaurants where I am happy to pay and did so throughout Melbourne in restaurant's more expensive. I did not get value for money and was very disappointed. The staff were amazing but that alone will not bring in customers,I would not recommend
A lovely surprising treat
We had the tasting menu with wine.
Pluses were the service and the quality of the food. One alteration was made for my wife who doesn't like oysters - my favourite dish!
Minuses: We were sold a glass of champagne upon arrival despite telling our waiter we were having the tasting menu with wine. The first wine in the tasting flight was another sparkling! We were also upsold a marron dish with wine. For my palette, the marron was over seasoned / over spiced and the extra wine unremarkable.
Everything was exceptional. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing as well. They were all very kind and made our experience absolutely perfect. I would recommend making a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night to live the full experience (6 course meal)!
Had an absolutely fabulous time. Were made to feel very special and the staff were just amazing. The food was first class. So pleased we went and the memory will stay with us for a long time.
We booked the dinner from our home in London,UK to celebrate our wedding anniversary ,during our planned holiday in Australia.
No words to describe our experience,very happy.
The food was of quality one would expect from George Calombaris .
Slight disappointment as we were unable to meet George in person . George however left autographed cook book for us,
thank you George.

This was our first time in The Press Club and it lived it up to our expectations. Everything was flawless from the food, wine, and the service. It was a great Valentines celebrations. It was worth the trip all the way from Sydney.
Came to Melbourne two years ago and came to Press Club for lunch, thought we would try dinner this time and we were not disappointed, food was amazing.

We had the most amazing evening. We were celebrating with our friends who are getting married on Saturday. The food was fantastic. Our friend has experienced a lot of great restaurants and said it was the best degustation menu he had experienced. The team were incredible and really made the experience special. Staff was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Service was exceptional and even gave us special services that was not expected. Food was the best I'd ever had. Will highly recommend!
This would have to have been one of my most memorable dinner experiences ever. It was our twentieth wedding anniversary and we dined there with friends.
Two of us were vegetarian and we were delighted with how this was catered for in the extensive degustation menu. We opted for the premium wine pairing and were impressed with the variety and choice of the offerings.
One small niggle was that we found some of the explanations by the wait staff difficult to follow as they spoke very quickly.
Excellent food really brilliant ideas and fantastic wine matching. Biggest let down: the two hour slot. For a Greek themed restaurant George should know what filoxenia (hospitality) is all about. Left a bit disappointed. Reviewing today in my head flavours - as there was no time to process/enjoy at dinner. Waiters pushing out wine/food. We were NOT relaxed. The sad bit was that we did not need to be rushed.There was plenty of space available. I wish I could do it again but much more relaxed.
Our experience at the Press Club was the best dining experience I have ever had - it beats dining experiences across Europe and Asia as well as Australia. I took my partner here for his birthday celebration and from the moment we stepped in the door to the moment we left, every element of the place from the service, food, atmosphere had been paid careful attention to. We 15 courses and flavour-changing cocktails (due to the ingenious ice cubes) - very well worth our money. Thankyou!
It was a fantastic experience, the degistation menu with the paired wine was stunning, food was glorious and was served with some real theater. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone that is after that little something special
It was a great experience to have the tasting menu and the accompanying wine journey. The staff is vert friendly. When we left we received a printed version of the menu!
This is fine dining at it’s best with an attentive service. It has a wonderful story to the menu.
Great experience wit excellent food and services
Chose this due to our Australian Masterchef addiction. Seemed to get lots of reminders and checks to confirm we were still going which was marginally annoying but if the place is really popular is understandable.
Room very small and discreet, service attentive bordering on OTT. Very pretentious explanations of all the seemingly deliberate outré “ Greekish” words on the menu, the wines provenance etc etc.
The meal itself was fine but not stand out. Produce itself was excellent.

An amazing lifetime experience from the moment we arrived. Every member of the staff were lovely, generous in their conversation and expertise. The food was Devine and the wines to die for. The service is friendly, experienced and knowledgeable about my requirements.
We went with the degustation menu. It is a true tour through an eating experiance. There is no description on the menu as the anticipation of the next fantastic dish is part of the experiance. The detail which the staff are able to explain the basis of the dish and it background show their love for their role in tge production.
Our favourite dish was the quail. The flavours were delicate and perfectly balanced.
It was absolutely superb!!! The most exquisite experience.

We attended The Press Club for my wife’s birthday, so it was a special occasion. We felt at home from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drink. They were attentive but not annoying. One particular young man with blonde hair (didn’t catch his name) looked after us for most of our lunch and was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food was incredible - flavours that neither of us had really tried before but were amazing!

The way how the dishes were presented and served was great (the "theatre")! you could really see and feel the amount of time and care that had been out to develop the dishes! The service was very good and all your needs were attended before you even had to think of it. Truly an awesome experience!
