The Press Club
The Press Club is an intimate, 32-seater with a fit out that's all curved leather booths and reflective surfaces.
It's unmistakably fine dining, complete with tasting menus and à la carte options on select days.
But remember it's George Calombaris, it’s playful, not pretentious, we never forget the true relaxed spirit of Greek hospitality.
Food was presented exceptionally
Wine match to food probably a bit on the expensive side
Service was good, knowledge of wines very good
Unfortunately due to where we were seated, the cold breeze came through every time someone went in & out the door.
Wonderful evening. Staff were outstanding as was the food and matching wines. We had a truly memorable night. We wish the team all the very best for the next phase of The Press Club.
Sadly the last time at The Press Club. Been 4 times now and it never disappoints, actually just gets better. Have been for sons 21st, with my sister and partner a few years ago. Yesterday went with my son with whom I went with on my first visit, very special to spend the last visit with him. Splurged with the wine option with lunch, and was well worth it. Will miss my go to restaurant next time I visit Melbourne, but looking forward to the next adventure George. 😊😊
When we walked into the restaurant the ambience was perfect. The degustation menu with wine pairing was an amazing experience, each dish exquisitely crafted & tantalising to the senses. The staff were knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommended. Will be exciting to see it reinvented
Took my daughter to the Press club before it closes down as it was such a special place to me. The food was still exceptional, the service was absolutely on point and most importantly my daughter absolutely loved it. She is vegan and the courses for her were nothing short of deliciousness. Sorry it is closing its doors.
Top level service, friendly and attentive wait staff. quality food
The food was unbelievably gorgeous and the staff was brilliant and charming. The entire experience brought me so much joy.
An amazing experience! can’t fault it. Thank you.
Fine dining experience.
Wonderful food and staff to match.
Our waiter “Brad” was perfect in presentation and discussion.
The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. They explained each dish perfectly and the young lady (waitress) was very friendly and had good knowledge. The degustation was a hit as the variety of food was extensive. The chef took us outside our comfort zone with the combination of flavours, which we thought was fantastic. The food highlights - The Quail, the fish & the Marron.
Beautiful food, well balanced, well thought out and fantastic service.
Excellent dining experience, had the 6 course degustation which was excellent. Quite gamey, so if you don't like game meat be sure to tell the staff.
The staff and chefs were excellemnt, and the dining room is stunning - you feel like you are in a James Bond movie. Very special indeed!
Incredible dining experience. The food was inspiring and innovative, and the waiting staff and sommelier were second to none. I have always wanted to try 'fine dining' … and couldn't have expected any more. Very memorable night.
The food and wine journey was amazing.
Food and service is amazing. Expensive, but expected of a fine dining restaurant of its kind.
Best liquorice ice cream in the world; Amazing techniques on all plates; great environment; very good service.
Impeccable service, outstanding menu and superbly matched wine at a very reasonable price!
In one word: Amazing.
Go there while they are still open... And come back after they have reopened...
Excellent service. Food and presentation met all our expectations. Staff were warm and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble. The menu is pricey but that was to be expected.
We had fabulous night at the Press Club. Our waiter was excellent and the food and wine combination was a great experience.
Quite an event however very expensive.
From the moment we stepped in The Press Club provided us with amazing service, calm, comfortable atmosphere and the most beautiful dishes in our degustation! Such a shame it is closing but so happy we got to go before it does. The wine list is incredible and we chose a beautiful Barossa Valley Shiraz that was to die for. Thank you to all the team at the Press Club for a wonderful dining experience.
The Hospitality of staff and the quality of food is amazing.
Just a brilliant day. Food, Wine and Service made it a treat. No one favourite dish. The whole package with the 6 course tasting was sublime.
One of if not the best dinning experience I've experienced. Staff were exceptional, food was divine and wine was amazing. Sad to see this place go.
The entire team at The Press Club we’re so lovely and attentive.
Amazing Food and Amazing service.
5 star High Quality experience all the way!
Thank you for a lovely night for my Birthday:)
The food, beverages and service was exceptional. However, the restaurant itself is starting to look a bit worse for wear and could do with a dress up. For example the leather seats were stained, the tables are showing signs of wear and other parts are looking a bit dated. This took away a little bit from the overall experience.
If there was any way I could rate this restaurant higher then a 10 I certainly would. The service and genuine care was outstanding. The food was extravagant and something I will be recommending to all my friends and family to experience.
Excellent in all respects. We chatted with the chefs in the kitchen and found all staff to be enthusiastic regarding their dishes and extremely approachable. A memorable evening.
Service was amazing. The gentlemen looking after us treated us like royalty. The food quality was high.
Excellent food n incredible service
Could not fault my experience at The Press Club, love the attention to detail and warm generous hospitality.
Wow. What an experience!
From the moment we walked through the door the experience was amazing.
The staff are all very knowledgable and friendly and make sure you’re enjoying your meal and have everything you could need.
I was in Melbourne for a mother son weekend to see Harry Potter and the whole team went above and beyond and created a special dessert and experience for my mum and I. I know that’s something mum will never forget and both felt very very special.
Our third visit and we were disappointed this time. Very average food for the price. Not intending to revisit now, we enjoyed our two previous visits but this time was very un underwhelming and average at best
I personally enjoy watching George in the media however I and my wife were very underwhelmed with the food in the tasting menu. I found apart from one dish it to be boring and to be perfectly honest extremely over priced. Comparing with many other restaurants where I am happy to pay and did so throughout Melbourne in restaurant's more expensive. I did not get value for money and was very disappointed. The staff were amazing but that alone will not bring in customers,I would not recommend
A lovely surprising treat
We had the tasting menu with wine.
Pluses were the service and the quality of the food. One alteration was made for my wife who doesn't like oysters - my favourite dish!
Minuses: We were sold a glass of champagne upon arrival despite telling our waiter we were having the tasting menu with wine. The first wine in the tasting flight was another sparkling! We were also upsold a marron dish with wine. For my palette, the marron was over seasoned / over spiced and the extra wine unremarkable.
