The Potting Shed
It’s a lively place where you can hoe into fresh, locally harvested produce, delivered by our shed-hands. The same hands that will deliver you good-natured banter, craft beers on tap, great tasting wines and unique cocktails.
The menu offers a number of cozy share options for groups, three course substantial meal choices for those wanting to make an evening of it and a fun selection of nibbles for people wanting a light after-work snack with their cocktails or a share jug amongst friends.
Over hyped and over priced, besides the setting and decor, the place really did not have much going for it
Service was ok, our waitress was very polite but anybody else beyond her seemed annoyed at our mere presence
The service and food was great. The atmosphere was cute and cosy. There wasn't a long wait for the food and we were seated as soon as we arrived for our booking. Booking is a must as the venue is always busy.
This is a new favourite - relaxed atmosphere without being too casual. Delicious food that is easy to share if you want. Friendly staff, and they will sing Happy Birthday when they bring dessert if you arrange it.
They have a wheel barrow out the front with a fire, and marshmallows nearby to roast your own - great entertainment for older kids.
The scenery was beautiful and along with the food our overall dining experience was magnificent.
I was really hungry when I went to the potting shed at 4.15pm. They told us that we couldn't order any mains because they closed they prepared for dinner between 4.15-6pm. I asked if we could immediately order to get a main and they refused. I was disappointed because otherwise the place was beautiful and food and drinks looked amazing.
Food was good. Service was terrible. We tried flagging a waiter constantly to take orders for drinks & food.
Took 40 minutes just to get a waiter to service us.
Tried taking our plates when we were still eating. Gave us the impression they were pushing us out of our seats.
Asked for a tip at the end after providing no service.
We were prepared to stay and have further drinks and dessert however were very unimpressed with how hard it was to get a waiter/waitress to talk to us we decided to leave.
We travelled further than an hour to have dinner here.
Great atmoshere, good service, great cocktails, but our food were very disappointing; party of 3 each with same feedback.
Great food and service! The decor is simply amazing, so lush and green. Definitely will be back 👍🏻
Lovely setting, great options for people with dietary restrictions.
There was no main available which is a bit strange for me, but salad and entree is enough to keep us filled.
My Family and I would recommend this place to anyone we had the best night out.
Thanks to you and your staff.
Food never disappoints. Keep up the high standards
The Potting Shed is awesome. Atmosphere is beautiful. Staff are excellent and their service is fabulous. The food was superb. I wished we lived closer so we could eat here regularly.
Mains came too early ... no time to enjoy the entree board
Amazing food and excellent staff. I love the different themes every time we come.
Had a fun lunch with family. Food was gorgeous! Portions are large so watch out! Fluffy the macaw was also a highlight! Highly recommend!
Very nice venue! It only took like 45min before our food arrived. Plus there is not much choice for gluten/dairy free. Wish that there was a bit more, no gluten free bread for example. Overal the venue is just stunning!
Beautiful space. Service was awful. Wasn’t offered menu’s, water, a second drink. No one came to check on us and our waiter George was never to be seen again once he took our dinner order.
Love this place the ambiance, service and food is amazing. Always bring family & friends when visiting from overseas or interstate. This place is a must!
Great vibe, excellent service, incredible greenery and atmospheric decor. A fabulous experience for the family!
Food was ok. No salt and beef patty was burnt. But it was good overall when you are hungry. Great ambiance and great atmosphere with good decent service.
Due to being a party of two we were put right at the front where the hostess stands to greet people, also where customers stand waiting for a table. It’s crowded and would be better used for a waiting area. Instead of squishing people in.
Great variety on menu. Service was fantastic. Especially the waitresses making my dining experience with my Girlfriend a one to remember. Will be back in the future!
Such a beautiful place! Service, food and ambiance were exceptional!
Relaxed, friendly and a great, fun decor. Our meals were delicious, I loved the cauliflower beigneux and my friends loved their lamb and hamburger dishes. The wine and drinks list was extensive with good options catering for all tastes. The service was very good, friendly and attentive and we had no trouble parking. I'm recommending to friends & family and will definitely come again.
Just concerned that a surcharge is made for large groups not sure why .
Not mentioned at booking nor on line
First time to the grounds. Booked a table for Friday night for 3 people at 615.
Expected it to be busy which it was, although was fine. The atmosphere and setting is very nice and what sets it apart from most restaurants which if it wasn't for this my rating would be 2 stars.
Service was here and there. Should have been more attentive, occasions where we waited too long. Were not offered dessert.
I am vegan and as such always look at a menu before I arrive and did realise there wouldn't be many options for myself which I was fine with. Upon talking to waitress re my requirements she checked with kitchen and informed me what I had suspected my options were salad or an entree dish that once you removed the dairy products was mainly just pumpkin. I decided on a salad but upon ordering was told was sold out. Not only should I have been informed earlier, me and my party agreed that it was unacceptable on a Friday night before 7pm to run out. We then ordered wine, that was also unavailable. Didn't receive glasses at first then when we did my friends and I polished them ourselves with our napkins, we thought they were dirty at first since they were not polished.
The salad that I did end up getting was edible but poor. Unimaginative and drowned in what tasted like praise Italian dressing. I have a personal dislike to tomatoes and cucumbers which I completely recognise as a personal taste but these items were not mentioned in description. Yes not all ingredients are listed although these two items featured quite heavily. I ordered side potatoes which were tasty and cooked well. I did mention to my waitress that I wasn't expecting the tomatoes and cucumbers to then which I believe a supervisor came over to me. I explained I was happy to eat my meal as my choice wasn't available, she tried to tell me there were many vegan options but we both know that isn't really the case. Service and food should be of a higher standard for price and type of restaurant. Mismatched.
The place is awesome and staff are friendly even with many people to serve. We tried many dishes and took some beautiful pohotos. It's absolutely a good choice for seeing friends or family gathering!
Made on-line booking for 3 guests and thereby avoided the long queue at the door. Was given small table and request to be moved to a larger table for 4, was granted within 15 minutes. Food was tasty, albeit battered barramundi a touch greasy. Would go there again.
Lovely ambiance marred somewhat by slow, occasionally confused service and average food.
OpenTable listing also suggests dress code is Business Casual - not sure why, but when we went this was definitely not the case.
Great food but the service was poor. A champagne glass was smashed on my friend and he picked it up - his seat wasn't swept, it took 15min between visits from the waitress and we weren't offered a dessert or coffee menu at the end. I had friends from overseas visiting and I was disappointed with the experience. When we have been before it was always outstanding. Seemed like they were understaffed or just inexperienced.
Lovely stroll down as this place is in the neighbourhood and the perfect setting on a hot evening. Service was top notch and food was lovely with very generous potions (to the point we struggled to fit it all in...and on the table). We’ll be back and we’ll be more sensible with our ordering next time. We’ll also bring insect repellent as the flora attracts mosquitoes.
This is an absolutely beautiful place. Unfortunately the food is mediocre and the service poor. VERY long waits between courses, missed dishes, and incorrect dishes all in the same night. The service was almost laughable.
Great atmosphere, excellent service! Food ok.
Good place for a group, fun vibe.
This was our first visit to the grounds, we are from QLD and were looking forward to it but left disappointed. The atmosphere was great, the place is beautiful! We booked weeks in advance and were 5 mins late but had to wait 10mins for our table which was ok. We were given a small round table for 4 people (better suited to 2). Took about 15mins for the waitress to come and ask us if we wanted water we were given 3 glasses (for 4 people). We asked for another glass. We waited about 20 minutes before we could flag the waitress down to take our order. There were 3 drinks and 1 main meal that we ordered that were sold out. We were then given THREE sets of cutlery and THREE side plates. We waited about 20 minutes before we got any drinks or anything. One drink came, then one entree, then the other three drinks then another entree then the mains straight after so we had to quickly finish our mussels (which were yum) so we could fit the main meals on the table as it was so small. We were then brought 3 main meals. One of which was pork loin and the pork was very tough, we couldn’t even eat it. The beef ribs and wagyu steak was yum. The waitress walked past and said she would check on the 4th meal and she came back to say she had forgotten to order it even though she had re-read our order to us and it was on there. It was my meal and I said don’t worry about it as I did not want to wait it was 9pm by then. Overall the food was nice except for the pork. But the service was very disappointing. We wouldn’t go back there for dinner again. The place was beautiful. A coffee might be a better way to experience the grounds.
not your ordinary cafe so expect the pricey menu. booking ahead is highly recommended
Great food and great Christmas display. Wait staff need to show a little more restraint as they were over servicing and this came across as wanting to rush us. This can be a little of putting.
Lovely outdoor atmosphere and family friendly. It was great that staff held our reserved table for over 15 min as it was packed with people on Sunday and took ages to get there through the crowed.
Great and unique atmosphere having dinner in The Potting Shed.
We work in The Grounds complex so are regulars within the cafe however the food was actually not that great there were 5 of us dining:
one of the dishes the chicken was raw - the chef compensated us with a dessert
a beetroot risotto was made with barley and the crisps were non existant and soggy
the steak dish came out without the salad
overall we prob. wouldnt dine or recomment the potting shed.
