The Post Office Hotel
The POH has a long-standing reputation for being a great neighbourhood pub with fantastic food & a friendly atmosphere. The modern Australian menu features a range of dishes to suit the season, as well as all the classic pub favourites. There’s an extensive wine list to explore & multiple rotating taps to try.
From June 1st, we're taking bookings in the front bar, pub dining rooms & beer garden. Our restaurant, the Dining Hall, will remain closed for the time being. We are currently only accepting bookings. Sorry, no walk-ins for now. We offer 2 sittings for lunch & 2 for dinner. Each sitting goes for 2 hours & a meal must be served with alcohol. Each dining space has a maximum capacity that must be adhered to. As per government regulations, we are unable to provide bar service.
It might be a bit different from the pub experience you remember pre-covid, but it’s a start and will only get better from here!
Although when booking we were under the assumption that we would be in the restaurant area with table service. This was in the normal dining area. As this was for a family member's b'day, we probably would have gone elsewhere. Once we arrived it was explained that we didn't have to stay but as we were a party of 7 with a baby, it would have been inconvenient to go somewhere else.
Great food, fantastic service. Best Pizza ever. Will def return
Unfortunately the problem was that when I booked the staff didn’t mention that it wouldn’t be table service so when we arrived with a large party we were seated in the usual way and needed to rearrange tables ourselves. Not ideal. But the staff regrouped and proved to be attentive after that. So we ended up having an enjoyable time.
Forced into lounge eating as main dining was closed. Limited choices on menu but pleasant enough without being superb. Noisy environment.
It's my local pub so I will be back
Hi, thank you for asking. We loved the hotel itself and we live nearby so we want to love it. Our criticism is only of the food, my gluten free base pizza was fabulous but the topping was boring. Vegan cheese not melted and overall good quality but tasteless. My husbands steak was just average, and no pepper sauce on the menu. Again, thank you for theopportunity for feedback. Jo McMullen
Great quick meal on the way out for Crissy function. Introduced new diners who reckon they'll be back again. Tasty selection of casual food options which were served in a timely and friendly manner.
Excellent service by impressive and experienced staff. Good value food.
Only issue was the music was too loud.
Great food, attentive and friendly staff. Good wine and beer selection. Feels and looks a bit upmarket dining, but sounds like a beer hall....yes I know its a pub, but high ceiling acoustics meant we had to yell most of the time even in a separate booth, and it wasn't even that busy really. Some people like that maybe? but I'd go heaps more if the sound was warmer. cheers though!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Menu is quite extensive. Well priced too. A little inner Northern suburb gem.
Service made the night - totally faultless ! Friendly, warm helpful and efficient. Food was good, slightly fancy pub grub, tasty and hit the spot.
We booked for a Wednesday and made arrangements over the phone for wheelchair access. We were told that even though the premises had a ramp to enter at the front - that section was closed during the week- and that we had to go around the back lane over cobbled and rough surface and wait at the back for one of our friends to open the backyard gate. We were told there was accessible toilets however in closer look there at was a high step - not accessible by wheelchair. We asked for a quiet area and were placed in a very noisy part of the premise. We moved ourselves to the quieter front area. In 2019, it’s not too much to expect that the Post Office Hotel would make all members of the community feel welcome!!
Great food and service in dinning hall. Accoustics could be improved as the hall wasn't full to capacity yet it was quite noisy. Cocktail service could also be improved. Wait times & availability of ingredients could be stepped up to meet hospitality expectations
Amazing friendly service, nothing was too difficult. Good selection of beers, comfortable seating inside and out. Very easy going atmosphere
Great food still, but the new renovations have left it feeling soul-less. Hardly any staff on for a busy Sunday lunch period so the wait for drinks and food was pretty poor. Unfortunately as a local I think the new owners are ruining a fantastic pub
I didn’t realise my booking was for pub side of the venue. I prefer the function side which I think has a better variety of food
We were able to add 2 people to our booking on the night with ease, which we were very grateful for.
The entree chicken pieces, Parma and burger were the meals enjoyed out of the group of 8, however, ribs and beef cheek pie very strong/rich to the point of not being enjoyed. 3 of us got scotch steak and all questioned if the cut was actually scotch. Very chewy, touch to cut and fatty. We were declined to be able to order dessert/birthday dessert, as the table was needed at 8:30pm (our seating was 6:30pm). We were asked to finish our drinks in the main pub area, but had to walk out of the venue and back in through the pub entrance via security to meet the waitperson inside, who was waiting with our drinks. I believe this was due to a function being on so we couldn’t access the venue the normal way. This was fine by us, but the pub was jammed so ended up outside huddled together throwing our drinks back quickly, certainly thought we’d stay for a few more drinks but decided not to. Toilets in the dining hall are unisex, which is fine, but were filthy and no soap. $400 for 8 people for mains 2 entrees (shared) 2 rounds of drinks. The seating arrangement was interesting, all 8 of us seated around 3 sides only of a large table which made for a bit of shouting across the table. Noisy +++
For the combined price and experience to eat here, we definitely do not recommend.
Not a bad meal, quite a long wait and it was pretty quiet so a little disappointed.
Food was great ! Found it a little hard to navigate the venue and find service
We both ordered scotch fillet steak - it was REALLY TOUGH and not nice. The gravy was really oily and the green veggies overcooked. Definitely not worth $35 and not a nice meal.
Great service and well priced drinks. Tasty food and not overly expensive. Our table area was a little darker than other seats, but only a minor irratance. Overall would definetly return and recommend to others.
Normally really enjoy the meals at the post office hotel, though couldn’t say anything positive about our meals on Friday night. All meals were cold & steak were over cooked and barely eatable. We ordered a entree on arrival which also never showed up. For the price, we left very disappointed. Unfortunately wouldn’t be in a rush to go back!
Great venue best service and lovely food. The experience at The Post Office was faultless.
My group really like the band but the sound system wasn't that good. Food was very tasty
Good venue. But allowed me to book a table for 14 online only to arrive and be told there was no table inside and the online bookings shouldn’t have been open. They arranged a table outside which was fine with the heater on
Thoroughly enjoyed the time. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
Ambience and the arrangement was relaxing!
Food was amazing! Best ribs my father in-law has ever had.
Food was fantastic I enjoyed slow cooked ribs. Best i have had ever. Rest of guests (12) enjoyed their meal. Service was prompt
The battered fish was burnt and the club sandwiches were no where near as good as other club sandwiches that I have had.
The noise level was very high so conversation was hard to hear.
My friends booked the PoH for my birthday. We had two young kids that were a bit “much” and the staff were so great / accomodating / kind / patient. They sat us near the couch which gave the kids a lot of space and they really made an effort to make our experience comfortable and chill. Thanks PoH team! Will return and recommend - and next time I’ll leave my 3yo daughter at home haha
Went there with family for Mother's Day lunch, it was a set menu and enjoyed it a lot. Food was delicious four courses menu so no dinner for me, so much. Service was good. We will be doing this again.
I ordered a chicken parmigiana meal and was served with a piece of cos lettuce with my chicken Parma and small amount of chips on a small plate that did not fit all the food. Whilst eating my food was falling off my plate. It was disgusting. Still
Can’t believe as a salad I was served a cos lettuce piece. I could of made a better salad for $3
Food was extremely slow in coming and portions were small and food over salted and generally showed no love. No chance we’d return.
Lovely venue. Food was pretty good but 2 meals had issues and had to be sent back (one marked on menu as GF was not gluten free, a massive health issue to my niece). Replaced no worries, however no apologies from staff or checking afterwards that replacements were ok...
Just a weekly dinner outing at local pub.
Where to start - the amazing food, service or atmosphere?
We have used POH for a Christmas event and it was amazing so we decided to book for our 12th Anniversary.
Yet again - outstanding. The only thing missing is a bigger dessert menu.
In any event we will be back and highly recommend it to everyone.
Thanks so much guys!
Great quality food (we had the haloumi entre, fish and chips and pork belly for mains) and very good portion sizes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Visited on a Friday evening, from 6.30pm - 8pm. Noise levels were a little loud because of the high ceilings and lack of noise absorption, but music, cleanliness and decor were great! Will definitely be returning soon.
Meal was delicious. I had the roast pork neck. I recommend this place for a good meal
I would love coming here. I ordered meat medium rare but the meat was to under cooked and wasn’t enough vegetables on the plate at all. There was no dessert on the menu accept a sundae so we had to go to another location.
Otherwise I am normally happy.
Could be less expensive.
We had 4 meals.
1. All 3 Burgers should better loaded for $20 and had to pay for salad on top? - NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
There are MUCH better value pub burgers meals in our hood.
2. Pizza was awesome.
A pass Mark.
Good accessible venue, interesting food, a bit noisy.
