My husband and I came during restaurant week. We had a 7:45 reservation but didn’t get sat until 8:15 after repeatedly being told it would “be 2 or 3 minutes”. It was clear the hosts were either simply overwhelmed or disorganized. When were finally sat it took a while for our server to come over to us but once she did (and brought us the right RW menu) she was fabulous albeit very busy serving a wide section. Overall the food was great, portions were large and my husband may have found his favorite place for a Manhattan. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy the bar deck overlooking the water once it warms up.
The food was quite good, with generous portions -- this is seafood comfort food, so don't expect to dodge many calories. The service was friendly but the kitchen was very slow - waiting an hour between appetizers being cleared and entrees appearing is not acceptable. The noise level is excessive, requiring shouting to table mates to be heard above the din of the crowd and the dance club soundtrack. The wine list was ok but not extensive, and the mark-up seemed somewhat excessive ($45 for a white that could probably be purchased at retail for $12-15). $15 for valet parking also seemed steep given the isolated location.
Still, we'd go back in warm weather to eat on the deck and watch the sun set.
Excellent service from Karen, Managemet came to check on as well. Food was excellent. Unfortunately the heat wasn’t working and it was freezing in the restaurant. Temporary problem but was a bit uncomfortable. Every thing else was great!
Excellent service and food. Our server was knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly. There was always some refilling our water glasses. The food came out hot and delicious and the dessert was great. The ambience, music, and my seat location was perfect. I will definitely return to enjoy the food and atmosphere!
Our Server really demonstrated an interest to ensure we enjoyed our meal and visit to your restaurant. Good on her!!!
The appetizers are great. Drinks are just ok. Pizza had no flavor. Service is horribly slow.
The Point did NOT disappoint. The monk fish kabob was outstanding! The pairing with sweet potatoes and pomegranate was amazing!
Everything was awesome
The only disappointment was Leticia messing up our drink order and food order.
Not that it should be required but it would’ve been a nice customer service gesture to apologize.
Apps and drinks were great. Service was fine. However, nobody at the table was happy with their entrees.
We were there celebrating my husband's birthday. The evening was perfect!
It was my 1st time there and the bartender( sorry can’t remember his name) was super nice and very professional. We had a great time.
A return visit disappointed with burnt brussel sprouts. But great calamari, oyster, and shrimp sandwiches. Service was fine yet not overbearing and could’ve been a bit more responsive.
A little bummed because it was my daughter’s birthday and they didn’t do anything. We also were not close to the window as we requested. The waitress was super nice and the food was good. Drink was ok. Would definitely come back and try again. Surprised it was so empty.
NYE dinner and live band was great!
From the beautiful open kitchen to the waterfront views, this place is a winner. Reasonably priced, mostly unfussy and well executed food with great service. We will be back!
It’s a great place. It’s the calamari that brings us back. Lovely wait staff. We are old fuddy duds so we perpetually look for quiet; The Point is a lively energetic place; wish I were younger.
We loved the food, ambiance and the cocktails. Definitely will be back.
Absolutely amazing. The Point has become one of our favorite restaurants in DC. The food is inventive, fresh, and delicious and the service is fantastic. Will be back soon!
Good good. Better service. We especially appreciate how accommodating they were of our small dogs.
Where do I begin.. we walked in and were greeted by the smell of sewage. There was no one at the front desk, so after 5 minutes just standing there we finally saw our party at the fire pits outside. We escorted ourselves to the pit area where we then waited 10 minutes for our waitress to appear at the table. She seemed confused and a bit flustered (she even asked if we had drinks yet when it was in plain sight that our area was totally empty). Once we finally ordered, the drinks and food took forever to arrive. I ordered mussels and the bread that came with it was as hard as a calcified brick. I sent it back 3 times , each time it came back more burnt than the last time. I finally gave up and the rest of my food because my mussels were ice cold at this point. Our waitress never asked if we wanted our fire pit on, so after almost and hour and a half at our table, a busser came over and offered to light it. The whole patio cheered because OF COURSE we want the pit on!! Towards the end of the dinner, the waitress came over to rush us to pay because her shift was ending. We had to explain to her what “split the check evenly” meant.. she came back with all of our checks (7 in total) and only 2 pens. I think we were all just ready to leave at this point.
In all, the food and drinks were good.. but the terrible service from start to finish overshadowed anything good about the experience itself.
Always great food! Great staff and amazing ambiance whenever I go to The Point! This has definitely become my favorite restaurant!
Nice location and set up, excellent oysters and almost no fish.
The host was amazing and even though you could tell he was working with new not quite so experienced servers, he more than made up for it. I would recommend this restaurant.
One of DC's best waterfront restaurant views. And the interior of the restaurant is beautiful as well. We are fortunate to have the restaurant right downstairs from our apartment. And they recently added some happy hour specials! Brussels sprouts are my favorite app at this place.
We had a great time and the staff made us feel very special as we celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary!
The wood fire grill does not disappoint! The service was attentive without being overbearing. This will definitely be the newest "it" spot on the SW waterfront.
Amazing spot!!! Great service!!! Love the bartender Anthony!!! He was attentive and knew the menu and suggested great additional options. Drinks were on point!!! Also followed all Covid safety precautions I felt like he was always washing his hands. I know that does not matter to many but he was very aware of keeping things tidy and clean.
Our sever Greg/Craig was awesome! The food was mostly good. Would definitely get the calamari appetizer and the fried branzino again. The rest of my party did not like the crab cake sandwich (found shells inside) or the desserts. The manager did comp the food we did not enjoy which was good. Would go back for drinks, apps, and the branzino by the fire.
My wife and I (party of 2) were sat with a single menu. Wait staff didn’t check in with us or get even drink orders for about 20 minutes after we had been seated. An additional 20 minutes went by while we waited for our two glasses of wine. A manager (who seemed very attentive) stopped by during our appetizers. I mentioned the very long wait times and he spoke with the server. This did not seem to help as we still waiting an incredibly long time for our entrees (over an hour and 15 minutes).
We booked the table for our birthday dinner and looked forward to it for 2-3 weeks. The quality of service made the whole experience terrible. The food was pretty good but not good enough to wait for over an hour.
In the end, both my wife and I said we felt like hostages waiting for drinks, appetizers, entrees, and even the check.
Birthday and engagement
Wes, Frannie, Greg, and Melissa are awesome! I’ve been a regular since opening, and my neighbor visited for the first time last night. She enjoyed the food, service, and energy. Thanks guys! Shoutout to Wes for the booth!
Really amazing food. The smoked fish platter was amazing. My wife who isn’t a fan of oysters loved the roasted oysters. Her dish the bbq shrimp was so flavorful and my dish which was the catch of the day (rockfish) took the flavor of the grill so well and was amazing. Would highly recommend and the ambiance and restaurant setting was great.
Thank you for a great experience!!
Great food and service. Easily one of the best restaurants near the DC United Stadium/Nats Park complex.
It was a beautiful lunch outside on the wonderful patio.
From the initial smell of the restaurant to the food and a simple task of validating my parking - the overall evening was unimpressive.
Being that the restaurant was 10-15% occupied - I assumed that our food would come out fresh and delicious. Apps were calamari (which were okay) and hushpuppies (extremely greasy). The waitress explained the fish of the day (grilled porgy) as being close to flounder. I ordered it based on her description and what came on my plate was a large fish (bigger than Branzino). It was well cooked and tasted good. My friend ordered the Special Jumbo Shrimp and Pork Belly dish. While they served a lot of shrimp - they were all overcooked.
The hostess told me that they validate parking in the garage so I moved my car from the nearby lot (scared that I would get towed) and into the garage. When leaving, the waiter/manager couldn't figure out how to validate my ticket. He proceeded to walk us to the garage entrance but was not able to do what he planned. He called his manager (who was not in the restaurant) and asked hm to come downstairs to assist him. He left us for about 5 minutes - came back out and said the ticket was validated. While leaving the garage - I was charged $12 for the 2 hours I was there (no discount or validation).
Similar food experience the 1st time I visited. Thought I'd give them another chance. Now I wish I hadn't.
Great views. Mediocre food and service - definitely not worth the $$.
Beautiful relatively new restaurant---good menu, seafood fresh and ample choices. Our server Zacharia was wonderful, very helpful, informative, gave a very good wine recommendation and very pleasant--will definitely ask for him again. The calmari was very good and I want to try the restaurant again and try the raw bar options.
The experience was very nice just like every time that I go.
My best friend and I went out Saturday night and we had a great waiter named Zachariah (I believe that’s how you spell it). He was very friendly and attentive to our questions and suggesting items on the menu from food to drinks. Overall experience was great! I haven’t had a bad experience the 3 times that I’ve been so far. 10/10 recommend and 5 star restaurant in my opinion.
We went on a Saturday and the restaurant was fairly crowded, which is ok. The service was a bit slo, but OK. I ordered the grilled Branzino, which was a bit dry. The clam chowder was very tasty. I also had the Warm crab donuts, which was AMAZING!! Overall it is a nice restaurant on the water and I will return.
Amazing food, amazing ambiance. The braised short ribs was phenomenal.
