Went for Winter Restaurant Week. Food and service was top notch particularly for RW meal. Very pretty interior. Only critique was it was loud space with sound reverberation. Would come back for a special occasion.
Had dinner with colleague during Restaurant week. Tables were made of marble or stone and silverware was slipping everywhere. Table for two was hardly big enough to fit. Constantly being interrupted throughout our dinner. Food was average at best .... nothing to warrant another trip. Noise level was very noisy ... we could hardly hear ourselves talk.
Note that this was during Restaurant Week. The restaurant came up with an entirely separate menu, which is probably a good idea to keep any non-RW diners from feeling like they've overpaid, but it was still a great little variety and everything was delicious and high quality.
It was a disaster to choose this place as the beginning of the famous Restaurant week in DC. The menu was ridiculous , we just left without eating.
Sunday morning breakfast at the Pembroke was delicious and relaxing. The service was great, the eggs fluffy, berries were fresh and the detox juices are a must. My daughter’s grain bowl with a poached egg was yummy and my husband’s omelette was cooked to perfection. Right in DuPont Circle so afterwards we strolled through the farmer’s market for a perfect morning.
Came here for my friends birthday. It was fairly empty when we arrived and got a little busier towards 7:30 -8pm- but not by any means a lively atmosphere as they quote on their website. Dinner was flavorless and didn’t match the inflated costs of the entrees they served.
We also ended up tipping on the already added gratuity out of failure to notice they had snuck a “service fee” at the bottom of our check.
If you want a good meal, go somewhere else. So many other great options in DC. If you strictly want a picture for the gram - this is your spot.
It was wonderful. It was a Thursday evening and it was almost empty so it was very quiet, which was great. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. The salad was huge and perfect. Our duck tortellini appetizer was tender and had a lot of duck in it and was in a wonderful duck jeu. We had a half portion of pasta with mushrooms and truffle that was very rich and excellent. They both went well with with the hot Parker rolls they serve. The squid was tender and tasty. Our main dish, the lamb tagine was dry. As soon as we complained, they took it away and a few minutes letter they brought another with a wonderful sauce. We ended up being much of it home and it reheated beautifully the next day. One of us had the a rigatoni in a basic tomato sauce. It was a huge portion but she finished every drop. I would highly recommend this restaurant,
This place is my new favorite. The staff was amazing, knowledgeable and attentive. We started with the crab cakes which where good but nothing special. I had the pumpkin soup which was perfectly seasoned. For the main I had to try the duck which did not disappoint! Flavorful without over doing it. The suggested wine pairings were perfect and overall a great meal.
Followed up from the good fortune of last week, and it was fantastic.
I did wonder if you all still have oatmeal. It's not on the menu. I wanted to ask, but forgot.
We LOVE The Pembroke. Our only issue is not knowing whether the food selection and preparation will be consistent. Physical changes to the restaurant, seem to have prompted constant change in the kitchen. The new restaurant is beautiful, but recipe and menu choices can throw off the recurring patrons. Understandably and conversely, it's a hotel restaurant. So, those that are here for a quick stay may never know what was before them.
So, we still love it, we're just cautiously courting it again...with a smile. Today was GREAT!!!
I love this restaurant. Great 'go to' restaurant when you want good food, great service and an ambiance where the noise level allows you to have a comfortable conversation.
Good morning, Thank you for your review of The Pembroke! I am so glad to hear you are a fan of our restaurant, and that our service & food live up to your expectations! We look forward to hosting you again soon! Best wishes, Taylor
Surprisingly great breakfast at a hotel restaurant. Great location, pretty setting. Menu limited but superb. Great fresh juice mixes. Got reservation for 10:30 and ordered quickly as breakfast ended 11. Abrupt transition to lunch which starts at 11:30, so no real service after 11. Odd, but otherwise great experience. Will go back.
very disappointing Christmas Day lunch. Uninspired menu and lack luster service.
Our waiter, Joe, was awesome.
Excellent experience. We have been here before nd always enjoy returning.
One of my favorite “go to” restaurants.
Love dining at Pembroke. Mallory our server was personable, kind, thoughtful and efficient. Had a delightful pre holiday lunch with my Dad. Thank you
Dear Jayne, Thank you for your review of The Pembroke! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your pre-holiday lunch with us. We hope to see you back soon! Best, Taylor Bradley
I love food . We ordered more than half the menu and the dishes were all solid , but none of them were great .
My second visit to the restaurant but my first review! My second visit was sufficient to allow me to come to the conclusion that the cuisine is “good” but extremely basic in its delivery of flavors.
In other words, I am just not wowed-especially when presented with the exorbitant price points.
$62-$74 for filet of sole in my opinion is customer extortion! I don’t care where the fish is sourced-nothing demands this price! Lunch prices don’t differ from dinner prices and the lunch menu posted on the Opentable website does not reflect that which is offered at the restaurant.
The restaurant will only be sustainable because of its affiliating with the hotel. The basic delivery of flavors as well as the unreasonable prices for menu items is a harbinger for early demise! This restaurant has all of the trappings of being managed by an “outside of Washington DC” management team. These types of management styles are never successful in DC. Just look at STK that tried this sane concept just 2 blocks away.
Not sure if I’ll return for these reasons
Food was outstanding, however, service did not match the expected when taking the price point into consideration.
I took my husband to Pembroke for a birthday dinner. We were both very happy with the experience. The service was excellent — friendly and attentive without being overly intrusive. The delivery of the courses was well-timed. The decor is very pleasant, and we loved the fact that we could easily have a conversation without straining. To cap it all off, the food was fantastic. Everything we had was delicious! My husband had the pumpkin soup for his first course, while I had an endive salad. We both had the lamb tangine for the main course, which was scrumptious. For desert, he had the tarte tatin, and I had the profiteroles. The servings of all the courses was very ample. We will look forward to returning to Pembroke.
Thank you for your review of The Pembroke! I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your husband's birthday dinner, and hope we can see you again soon! Best, Taylor Bradley
Food was excellent as was the service. Really nice ambiance and the noise level was moderate (I could actually hear my friends when they spoke to me; no screaming necessary). Would have appreciated greater food proportions for the price, but the food was definitely worth the money!
I love the renovation of this restaurant - very elegant and Mad Men-like. Service is excellent and the food is delicious. I've been here for breakfast, brunch, and dinner and have enjoyed each experience.
Hi Geneva, Thank you so much for your kind words about The Pembroke! I am so happy to hear you've enjoyed our cuisine and service, and hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, Taylor Bradley
Food was Salty, over cooked, dry..but .. great wait staff and bar drinks.
It is hard to find a place that has a good couple of vegan options for my husband while keeping my options open...a vegan choice beyond oatmeal made with water! The Pembroke offered great choices for both of us. The food was delicious, service beyond friendly and helpful - everyone we dealt with was responsive, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is relaxing, seating comfortable. A very pleasant experience and one that was more relaxing (and relaxing was welcome!) that we thought our breakfast would be.
Phenomenal service! Told the staff we were celebrating an engagement and they made us feel very special from start to finish. Will easily return 2-3 times a year.
Our experience at the Pembroke was exquisite. My cocktail was the Pem 76 which I will definitely have again. Not too sweet but refreshing, light and delicious. I had the trout and my friend had the snapper and they were both excellent. I can’t say enough about the service. He was kind and attentive and even treated my friend to a special congratulatory desert to celebrate her award received that day. I highly recommend the Pembroke.
It took nearly 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. It wasn't even busy. The food was good at least. But wicked slow.
This is our 4th time here. Love The Pembroke. The food is top notch and our server, Matthew, is one of a kind. He really makes the occasion special. Attentive but not overbearing.

Food was great and the wait staff was very engaging and prompt...
Pembroke was a wonderful discovery for our party - all of whom eat out in the District frequently. It reminded everyone of a small European restaurant, with dozens of thoughtful details and a very personalized approach. The leather banquettes, the artful and flattering lighting everywhere, and a gorgeous brass and marble bar as the heartbeat of the place, along with the bartender's and the wait staff's smart uniforms, create the feeling of a movie set in the 40's. We celebrated Thanksgiving there and every dish from the prix fixe menu was perfect - pumpkin soup with chili oil, oysters in champagne cream, a pan fried steelhead trout that was heaven, steak frites presented beautifully and a big hit, and a traditional turkey dinner that was the best ever. The tarte tatin rivaled the best of them in France. Our waiter was exceptionally adept, generous with wine guidance and had a great sense of humor. Pembroke is a gem.
