We dined during restaurant week, so it was excellent value. The food was really tasty - short ribs and cod were the entrees those in our group ordered. The carrot soup and spinach salad with duck were also really good. Service was adequate but we had to ask for water refills. The ambiance is really nice as well - except for the music, which could have been more upbeat (instead, it was like elevator music). We'd definitely return.

Went to Peacock Inn during recent restaurant week.
The staff was nice but not exactly competent: French coffee came as ordered, but had to ask for cup repeatedly from the several staff that came by. Also, there did not seem to be an assigned waiter for our table, so we were served by different waiters & has to ask them repeatedly for same things.
Food: the fish we had for entree was delicious but the portion was small, especially for 2 grown men in our group (both complained to still being hungry after left restaurant). The soup appetizer was also excellent, good portion too.
Dessert: the Napoleon was ok, chocolate cake was excellent, the goat cheese ice cream was pretty to look at but tasted a little funny (probably as I’m not used to goat milk)
Overall good value for the $20 we paid for the restaurant week special lunch, but unless the service improves & fish entree portion gets bigger, full price maybe a bit overpriced.

We have been here before for both brunch and dinner. It’s one of our special occasion celebration place. We’ve never been disappointed with the food or service. This time it was our wedding anniversary that we were celebrating and from the complementary champagne to dessert the food was delicious!
It’s a delight to eat here and we absolutely love the food and ambience.

Surprisingly poor service, waiter was the worst. He was making all nearby tables equally miserable. Drinks took 40 minutes to come, dinner took more than an hour. It was unusual, management didn’t really address it and simply deducted 2 drinks from our bill. This was our 10th time and the first time with such extremely poor service. Our meal should have been comped entirely.

All went well but service seemed to run in to some logistical challenges. Either, servers were spread to far and wide or the restaurant was short a server or two. Busboys appeared scarce as well. But minor inconveniences are easily forgiven when food is great and everyone is friendly and helpful.

Nice interior, best service. But food!!! Everything was bad. Too much salt I every dish except desert. Salad, chicken, duck, vegetables, octopus - we could not taste anything but salt. Roasted potatoes were completely ruined: some chunks burned, some mushy, as they were scraped from the bottom of the pan. Coffee? It was a cup of mud, probably prison coffee is better. I never had worse food. Only good thing was chocolate lava cake, Bouillabaisse would be good, if less salt in it. Everything else was a disaster.

The ambiance was extraordinary and that helps enormously with the evening. Though the restaurant had a fairly large crowd, there was still plenty of privacy where my friend and I were seated. The food and drink were most enjoyable and we would definitely return again for a special occasion.

Overall amazing experience. The food was excellent and our server, Groover, was incredible! I came here to celebrate a promotion and the staff went above and beyond to make the occasion special. We went with all of Groover’s recommendations and couldn’t have been more happy. The highlight was the Loup de Mer! Thanks again to the staff for an splendid experience.

Bar closed at 10pm on a Saturday? B Team servers. Had to ask for bread and water refills. Lackluster service — they just wanted us out of there. Not the experience we were looking forward to...

We decided to splurge on this restaurant for New Year's Eve. What a mistake! It was terrible, from start to finish, and very expensive to boot. It began with an awful cocktail while we waited in the bar for our table to be ready. After we were finally seated, we waited a long time for our menus and then for our water. The menu for the holiday dinner was prix fixe, with four dishes listed and a surprise small course as well. My husband and I ordered different dishes for each course, the quality of which ranged from nearly inedible to mediocre, and we waited an eternity for each one. The presentation of the food was laughable, but its slapdash nature reflected the quality well. I brought my cold, dry, tough, flavorless little rectangles of beef home to give to my dogs. Even the chocolate souffle was no more than hot chocolate soup with a bit of a crust. We were not alone in our suffering. We overheard in the bar that the restaurant would cover a couple's entire bill (not sure why). We should have left then, but we had no other NY plans. Then, a couple at a table behind us complained that they had waited an eternity for the drinks menu and then were served food before their cocktails (much less their wine) had even arrived. The restaurant offered them free wine flights for the dinner. I guess we should have complained more loudly! We were left with a $500 bill for two and indigestion. At least the dining room was attractive!

We were at the Inn for New Year's Eve. We were looking forward to a special night, and we were very disappointed. The price was high, $125, and the food was a little better than average. But the biggest let down was sthe service. Our waiter, was never around to help with additional needs. He never once came over to say "Do you need anything?" or "Is the meal how you wanted?'
For the money, and the good reputation, we expected a much beter experience. Other people in our room were getting better service from their waiters, so we must have been very unlucky.
Needlesss to say, with all the fabulous places to dine in N.J. we will not return.

We celebrated 2020 New Years Eve here. We had specifically confirmed with the restaurant that we were also celebrating our friends 40th wedding anniversary.
It was a menu at $145 per head. The food was only OK. Main course for me was a lamb MEATBALL with a little bit of spinach and roasted cauliflower. The service was friendly but not very efficient. At one point we had to reach for our wine at the servers table in order to refill our glasses. Not a problem if the bottle had been actually on our table.
As mentioned we had confirmed we also were celebrating our friends 40th anniversary... and come dessert ... there was nothing. Not even the usual “ written in chocolate “ happy anniversary. Nothing at all that made this dinner anything different from any other old dinner. Total bill inclusive wine and tips was $850 for 4 people.
Not impressed. Nothing we would repeat another New Years Eve.

New Year's Eve is traditionally something I generally avoid as food and service are usually not the best. I am sorry to say this was the case with Peacock Inn. Having had wonderful and terrible experiences in the past, I thought I would give it a try. No prices were in evidence on menu or in reception area. I figured it was prix fix, and should have asked. ( also not on Open table). Menu very limited, but expected that. 3 choices per course. ( 4 courses) I opted for potato soup sans caviar crouton.. very small bowl, but good, not great. 2nd course seared tuna. Very fishy and cold. 3rd course , pork loin. the worst of the 3. large slab of meat , dry and tasteless. Oh, yes there was a scallop dish, which was excellent. Dessert uninspired also , but it as least did not taste cardboard. Added to this had to ask for bread, which was also average. herbed butter had no taste! Glass of white wine not even chilled. Service not what I would call attentive, but just okay. ( Saw other dishes, which were a joke, the steak was about 3-4 small sliced pieces) A huge disapointment for$100. but for the $380 (with Tip) a disaster! needless to say not a place I would return to in a hurry if ever.

Went with my wife and had a great meal, every course was spot on with great flavors and proper preparation. They have two wine lists standard and the Captains List so you have very good choices to match what you are looking to spend. The night was made perfect by our waiter Chris who had a in-depth understanding of the menu and very professional table side manner. Chris made the whole experience just perfect. Looking forward to returning soon.

Service was spotty- specials read to us before we received the menu to learn the standard offerings, drinks orders taken late and the wine was not delivered until we had finished our main course. The manager comp’d the wine, but the meal and service were below what we would expect for the level of restaurant this is supposed to be.

Great food, both presentation and taste, great atmosphere and service and a good value (as far as the food goes). The drinks are very much overpriced and would be more in-line with mid-town Manhattan. Whenever I'm in the Princeton area, I always try to dine at the Peacock and I have never been disappointed.

What a great inn!! We came here for an overnight to enjoy the art museum at Princeton University and the cute town that is across the street. Our accommodations were top shelf with A super comfortable bed heated floors in the bathroom and a shower with multiple jets and overhead rain water faucet. Our room had a stocked bar and also an area of snacks plus freshwater waiting for us and wine bottles. The service and staff were excellent.
