The Pavilion at The Domain - Sydney
Great location for a birthday lunch after visiting the gallery. Service slow and flustered and food was desperately ordinary - lukewarm, gluggy pasta dishes, included salad failed to arrive, very slow - we sat with empty dishes for ages and were not asked if we wanted dessert. Presumably this restaurant feels they have a captive audience of tourists given the location - embarrassing for a Sydney local.
Really enjoyed our Christmas lunch as did everyone else at the table. I have lunched here several times and it is always lovely. Good food and great atmosphere.
Great venue friendly staff nice view great food
Grumpy waitress. Basic breakfast food not necessarily done well. Bread tasted cheap. Ordered smoked salmon as a side and it came out like thick slices of old sushi salmon piled on a plate. Spoke to manager and had it deleted from the bill with no issue.
Staff Remembered us so Thais makes us feel special. Kind, compassionate and interested in us.
Beautiful day - we dined outside. Pasta and coffee was great.
The mushroom pasta meal was cold. The duck pasta meal was ho-hum.
The restaurant is a comfortable, bright and pleasant place to eat but the service was poor, the food below average and extremely overpriced.
Magic setting overlooking the gardens. Very attentive staff who offered helpful suggestions and the food was delicious! So happy we booked the Pavilion .
A lovely place to sit in the sun .Had brunch here on Sunday , table of 8. We were seated outside, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We all enjoyed our meals, although definitely on the pricey side.
Waiter was attentive and service timing was good. We would definiely go back.
Our experience at the Pavilion was just perfect.
Alfresco, sea breeze, peaceful, great service, food and wine.
We changed our lunch appointment to earlier time, no problem. We were from out of town,so really enjoyed the treat.
Lovely quiet setting for brunch.
Good service but mushrooms on toast with avo was disappointing.(vegetarian option)
No avocado was available and the dish arrived with one large piece of toast topped only with one small mushroom, one thin slice of tomato and a few spinch leaves.
Not much for the price and disappointing for a hungry daughter! The staff had to be reminded to bring the eggs which had been ordered as an add-on too.
The rest of the food was fine but not exceptional.
We enjoyed our experience at your restaurant . Our table was in a good location, on the verandah and close to the side. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty . Staff were caring and responsive , thanks for a relaxing lunch
The service was good. The quality of food is alright, unfortunately, there was a fly in my salad which spoilt the experience.
After a friendly welcome and positive attention, with the entrees delivered reasonably promptly, the service became progressively distant to the point where we had to visit the bar to ask to be served coffee after lunch. Zucchini flowers were suprisingly large and could easily be shared. Mains were more compact but the barra was slightly overcooked and the spaghetti slightly undercooked. Venue is nice. Overall, we were hoping for more from a venue that has potential but didn't quite deliver.
What we had was enjoyable but a very limited menu and wine list with the waitress pushing the pasta special.
Service was slow and all over the place. Backpackers without hospitality experience is not a good look
This was not a great experience from the moment we arrived. They did not have our booking and advised us to sit wherever. Our drinks orders never arrived, we asked 3 different people where they were (when they did the kids drinks were missing). we ordered the kids lunches the minute we sat down. 1 hour 15 mins after ordereding - the adult meals came, still waiting for the kids meals (these came a few mins later). what was to be a 2.5 hour relaxed lunch turned into 15 minutes to eat lunch!
Service was appalling and super slow. It took the waiters almost half an hour to give us water (it was 40 degrees) and another 15 minutes to take our food order. I was on my lunch break (1 hr) and by the time we had received our meals I had already been there for an hour and a half. I contemplated leaving just before the food came out. We ordered two main meals - the lamb and the chicken. Both meals were nice, not wow but cooked well. The portions were way too small and we left hungry.
Extremely disappointed. I made the booking a week in advance and was rung by The Pavilion on the morning of the booking to say that our booking was cancelled as they had a private function which was not picked up by the online booking system.
This totally ruined our day, as we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary where we had our wedding reception at this restaurant on that date.
We were a party of seven. Several were disappointed with the food. Waiter was unfamiliar with the limited menu, which has interesting options. service, while friendly was not as professional as we expected.
lovely spot in the park but food is overpriced for what you get. the portions are very small!
Wine was fabulous. My husband and I had BBQ lamb which was barely cooked and too chewy. Had to leave most of it on the plate. We have eaten here several times before and food always great. We brought a friend this time, who was visiting from Germany. He chose the chicken Maryland which looked great. It was a rainy day and restaurant was quiet due to few patrons which suited us.
Food was excellent.
had lovely lunch looking out over the domain
Took friends for lunch. Excellent service, lovely surroundings but food disappointing - fairly bland and uncreative. Enjoy this place more for breakfast.
Visits to the Pavilion are always wonderful - great food, wine, service and atmosphere. A real hidden gem in this part of Sydney.
A quiet restaurant with outdoor and indoor dining plus a kiosk where light snacks are offered. The restaurant inside seating is well spaced and very quiet with no echo allowing easily heard conversation especially for those with hearing aids.
Waited an hour to get our lunch !! It was busy !! An hour is toooo long
I thought the food was quite ordinary and it took ages ( 1 hour) for the meals to be served.
Please give thanks to our group's attentive service person Lexie for her great job
Food was great! Service was very average. Our waitress didn't seem at all happy to be working! Perhaps she was a Mum unable to spend the day with her family.
Beautiful location with excellent food. Entree that we shared and all 3 mains looked and tasted fantastic. Great ambiance for a nice lunch catch up.
Service was good but some issues like getting our bill before we had even eaten and asking for a bottle of water 3 times but was not bad overall.
Would definitely go again.
We were happy with the entrees and the desserts were very good. We were most impressed when the waiter remembered to turn down the volume of the "music" when our guest with hearing difficulties arrived. The place was not airconditioned but even with the warm and humid day it was bearable with through breeze.
Nice location; good, varied menu.
Lovely outside setting for lunch. Lovely park views and the service was excellent. The staff were super friendly and nothing was too hard for them and they met all our special requests.
cosmopolitan , casual friendly atmosphere, unpretentious but with first class service.
well spaced tables in outdoor area enabled easy conversation.
Very pet friendly and open to visits from local wildlife.
food good (not outstanding) but service was appalling!
We ordered the two course special - main course and (cold) desert
Main course came quickly and plates removed, but after a 30 minute hiatus, we asked about our deserts and explained we had a dedicated entry time at the gallery across the road
We were told another 15 mins so ordered coffee
The desserts finally arrived and we had to bolt them quickly
The server tried to charge us full price instead of special deal
Coffee never arrived
Unfortunately we were seated near a family of uncontrolled children. Staff eventually moved us but it was extraordinary and took the whole thing down to a cafeteria expetience. We were seated arond the edges of the room whilst long tables sat wmpty in the middle creating an odd feeling and no small tables at the windows ovelooking the park. The food was rushed and not like the wonderful food at Botanica which wed been promised. A special occasion did not feel special, sorry!
Food was very nice and good value.
Fish and chips especially good.
Pork belly delicious and tender - would be nice to have some carb on the side eg chips/potatoes
Service very friendly
Staff were excellent - very attentive and nothing was a problem. A bit disappointed they had "run out" of the only Pinot Noir by the glass - I think I would have offered to open one sold by the bottle and sold us a couple of glasses. Food was excellent and I would recommend this venue for lunch.
