The Palm East Hampton
Great dinner as always!
My wife and I have been to the East Hampton Palm numerous times, as the varied menu, consistently high food quality, and ambiance of the Huntting Inn keep us coming back. On this occasion, however, service was terribly slow throughout the evening. Most annoying was waiting over half an hour for our entree after finishing our appetizer. Our server thanked us for our patience at the end of our meal, which was nice because you can’t correct a problem if you don’t recognize you have one, but this particular night was a bust. It was the night after Thanksgiving, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Noisy but bearable. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was about regular nothing impressive.
Definitely needs more space between tables.
Nevertheless, we had a good time.
Thanksgiving at The Palm is a great idea. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Thank you Dylan!
The food, service and price were excellent. The only issue was the noise level, we were seated very very close to a very loud table with four loud gentlemen in the covered patio area! I guess that is out of their control especially on a holiday meal, but it would have been nice to have a discussion at my table without having to talk so loudly. Next year I will request a table inside the Main dining area. Overall, this meal was better than meals I've had over the past 5 years from Gurney's Inn and Baron's Cove and I highly recommend The Palm!
Love this place! Andrew and Sheila are the best!
nothing better... place always delivers.. go ever chance we get!!!!!
We had a great time at the Palm in East Hampton this past Saturday. After spending the afternoon riding around Montauk, we had a very enjoyable diner at the palm. The espresso martinis were fabulous. I recommended them to Tom at the table next to us and that’s when the party started. We unexpectedly ran into friends at the next table celebrating a birthday, so we all celebrated with delicious chocolate layer cake.
The food, drinks, deserts, staff and new & old friends were wonderful. What a good way to spend a fall Saturday I’m the Hamptons.
Went here for my anniversary and like so many other iconic restaurants they’re living on their reputation from the past but not delivering anymore! First, sat for a while without even being asked if we wanted a drink. Finally, we ordered our drinks and meals after almost 20 minutes. Between courses time was absurd and without complaining we received an apology from our server saying her bus person was out. Made sense since no one cleared our table after our main courses before we received our dessert. We had to ask to have the table cleared and crumbs removed before having our dessert served. Finally, our coffees came but dessert arrived 20 minutes later. Overall dinner was a huge letdown and while I don’t mind spending on a great meal, I expect the service to be on par with the food. One more thing, a table of 4 seated next to us after 10 minutes asked to change tables and were accommodated. While they were at their table they touch the tableware and were talking over the table. When they were moved the staff reset the table using the same tableware, an absolutely disgusting practice! I sent feedback direct to the restaurant and clearly true to form never heard back. There are too many other great steakhouses....I’ll go to them in the future.
Tge negatives: The crab cake was mushy and did not taste fresh, the onion rings were burned, sent back, and second try was badly edible. The positives: the steaks were excellent, but certainly not a bargain; the medium-rare was perfect, the medium came out medium well. Sautéed spinach was fine. Good service. Nice room, but the booth was as stiff as a church pew.
Wow, busy night and the palm nailed it. Great great food and service. Reminds me why we should be a regular.
Great waitstaff. Consistently good food with huge portions.
The Palm is a classic that stands up to its long reputation for great steak...and seafood. Our service was grreat and the value was very fair for overall experience.
Awesome as always. It's our favorite off season eatery.
We have lived in the area for 22 years. We have vowed never to come back and then when we have, like we did last summer, it was fantastic so we tried again this past weekend. The lobster was not good at all. We ordered a 3 pound lobster, I’m sure it was no more than 2 pounds. The fries were oily. So sad because at its best it’s so great but it is so inconsistent that there is no way that we can chance dropping $200 and feel so disappointed walking out. Sorry
My steak was inedible. I took it home to the dogs and THEY had a hard time with it. Even the “sides” , (usually so good) tasted reheated , leftover, tired and tasteless. Altogether an incredibly expensive and disappointing evening. I have loved this place for decades. Sad to say I won’t be going back.
Never disappoints . Hands down the best restaurant in the Hamptons. Great staff and management.
I have been a customer since the early 80's .
Hector our server was great
The restaurant was quiet and it was the worst dining experience we have ever had. Staff is super focused on making sure happy hour people spending little money are well taken care of while ignoring us. We could stay home and pour our own expensive wine and bottled water.
Remind me not to come on Saturday night during the Film Festival
Horrible! Pathetic service if you can even call it service. Waited forever couldn’t get anything right. Shockingly bad
Worst clams casino I've ever had; clam with a piece of bacon only; horrible potatoes au gratin;
for a steak house of such high repute, simply a BIG DISAPPOITMENT. Peter Luger incomparably
Server difficult to track down. Didn’t get dessert because we waited too long to find him. Steaks were under seasoned but of good quality.
This was the first time we had eaten at the Palm in East Hampton. We have eaten at the Palm too in NYC many times, our favorite steak house, and the Palm in Las Vegas a few times. The steak, the scallops and crab cakes, were all as expected, delicious, perfectly cooked. The service was slow mediocre at best. Maybe it was because the restaurant was full for the jewish holiday or they were short staffed. Don't know don't care. We waited 10 minutes before we even were given menus, another 5 before we were asked if we would like a cocktail or a glass of wine. had to flag down the waiter to place our order. Basically there was a lag between every interaction. Finally the bus person gave us the desert menus but after waiting another 5 - 10 minutes we just asked for the check when the waiter finally showed up. Because the restaurant was full, the noise level extremely high. Very different from the lovely quiet sunday evening dinners at the Palm Too. The Inn however was wonderful. We will stay there again but will stick to going to the other Palm restaurants in the future.
Very loud, service attentive but exceptionally slow on a busy Saturday night. Waited for our seat for 30 mins after our reservation time. Food very good as always but overall not great value.
Chicken parm was OK - the steak was better. French onion soup was amazing. Service was very attentive and friendly. Generous portions, but the cost was overpriced in my honest opinion for the quality of food they served. I’d definitely go back and skip the chicken parm... go with a steak. Ambiance was not what I expected - very crowded and tightly jammed sitting next to strangers to the point where you can hear every conversation. Also very low ceilings mad the space feel especially closed in. Again - i would still go back, but expect to pay a lot for your meal.
Great Place and Great Food... a bit of road noise being on Rpt 27 in East Hampton
Nice place for a NYC style steak dinner. Always a reliable place to dine in East Hampton.
We love the Palm!! The East Hampton location is extremely loud and noisy!! Could use some noise abatement!!!!
Another great meal at The Palm. Sheila at the front desk is consistently the friendliest host in the Hamptons.
We went to celebrate our anniversary in this restaurant, and I mentioned it during reservation. It was not acknowledged by the restaurant at all. Decor of the restaurant is simply nonexistent with the exposed water pipes on the ceiling. Service is not matching with the status and prices of this restaurant: we had to pour our wine, our water glasses were not refilled. Our server did not asked even once how we liked our food, and it was not because he was very busy: we came at 5:30 pm and the place was almost empty.
As usual, bread basket was brought to the table and the only tasty thing in it were packaged bread sticks, the bread could've been eaten as a desert, so sweet it was. We did not complain about it but when at the end of our dinner we noticed that two ladies at the table next to us enjoyed pumpernickel so fragrant that we could smell it, I asked our waiter why we weren't served this bread. And his answer was the most ridiculous we ever heard: the ladies asked for it, and we did not. The bread is not on their menu, how we should know to ask for it?! Though he offered to us to take it home, we refused.
Now about the food. Unfortunately, couple of weeks ago we ate at Peter Luger , and our memories of that meal were still fresh. We ordered thick cut bacon and NY strip and comparison was not in Palm restaurant favor: bacon was too fat, and steak too tough. Baby kale salad was the only tasty item, because duck fat roasted potatoes were quite mediocre and 7 layer chocolate cake was nauseatingly sweet.
We did not give up on all Palm restaurants, we hope that there are some of them somewhere that match the reputation of the brand.
The food and service was excellent. Rafael was terrific! Looking forward to our next visit.
Very busy but that did not effect the food or service. In fact we had the best waiter ever!! The most attentive! He would be great to train waiters anywhere. His name is Dylan!! He made our evening.
Great as usual.
Birthday dinner for my husband’s 68th. We always go to the Palm in EH for this occasion and it never disappoints! Food is delicious, service is professional and friendly, and a wonderful chorus for happy birthday! Perfect!
Party of 6 adults - seated at a booth meant for 4.
Uncomfortable, and seated next to a table of 15 incredibly loud people A party that size should be seated in back room, not in the main dining area.
Good food. Not as good as years ago.
Portions not generous for the price
Noise level high. Not able to talk at table
Been to the palm several times and it has been better. Service was weak and disappointed in size of the lobster ordered the four pounder and got 2.5/3.
The Hamptons in August. We arrived shortly after 7 PM. Our dinners were served shortly before 9 PM. Food as usual first quality.
