Food and service was fantastic x
Amazing as always! Very friendly staff every time I have been, make you feel right at home. Food is outstanding, best place I've eaten out at and has been my favourite since first going there. Prices are great, cosy decoration, can hear your own conversation and never too hot or too cold. Can't fault the mill house what so ever. Looking forward to my next visit already. Everyone needs a place like this in their lives! I'm glad I found mine
Friendly welcome on arrival, and a nice ambience with good decor. My pre arrival requests had been noted and a quiet table by the window was ready. Good to see alcohol free options on the drinks menu. Both our food and drinks orders taken in a timely and friendly manner. The food portions were generous and tasty. Though the only grumble having to pay extra for mash as a side on a Sunday lunch. All in all a great visit and would definitely visit again
A great welcome and service as usual! Food was delicious and there is so much choice for the Sunday meats and vegetables/side dishes. The decor is beautiful too and so spacious and pleasant.
Unbelievably scrumptious food. Quick service & polite staff.
Food was excellent, delicious.
I like real ale, and I'm sure I recall there was a selection of good ones the last time I was in. This time I was a bit disappointed that there were no hand pulled ales.
But overall it was a great experience.
A good night, was here last Friday too. Staff and food good, place nice and clean following covid guidelines. Well done.
Favourite place to eat ... love everything about it... Staff.. food .. gorgeous venue... x
I enjoyed the experience however I didn't want 3.30 but was all offered. The place was almost empty so couldn't understand that. One of our group wasn't happy about the number of staff not wearing masks so probably won't be back . Personally it doesn't bother me .
Booked a table for 7:30pm actually got a table at 8:30pm. Ordered food, took 30 mins for first course to arrive. Overall food and service poor, would not recommend this place at all.
Service very good, great choice.
Definitely recommend 👌
Enjoyed our visit for an early meal. Welcomed on arrival by friendly staff. Served with drinks quickly and ordered meals. How long you wait for food to arrive depends on your choice of food. Meal was enjoyable and piping hot. Good service.
This is the second time in 2 weeks I’ve visited and this last visit was quite different to the first.( which was really good) Whilst all the staff have been lovely and polite we waited quite a while for the food and this is my main reason for the mere average score - One of the meals was missing and was finally brought out once the rest of the party had finished eating . The waitress was apologetic but there wasn’t even a whiff of a complimentary drink for the guest waiting for her meal - it’s just basic customer care . My own meal was just ( and I mean just ) on the right side of warm - no more than this . Considering the wait we had I decided not to say anything ( obviously at this time I hadn’t realised one meal wasn’t to be arriving at all until we had finished ) . I felt the portion size was slightly mean - but accept it was adequate . Overall the food tasted ok but slightly disappointed overall - sorry.
Service is slow even when quiet, heard another couple complain. Food makes up for it though.
We ordered the scotch egg and pate for starters.. amazing! For mains we had the trio of sausage and fish and chips. The fish was the best I've ever had . Batter was so light and crunchy. Service was spot on aswell. Lovely place to eat
Went on a lunch time and the food was very tasty, the service was good with lovely smiling staff and the Mill House itself was bright, airy and very pleasant. We will be going back.
Lovely friendly staff
Attended The Mill House on Tuesday 8th June 2021. I had the calamari and Trio Sausage and my husband had the Aubergine bake and mother clucker burger. I’d recommend all the food we ordered. The staff were lovely and couldn’t help enough.
Good consistent service, value for money, great place to meet up with friends and family.
Despite the fact we were booked at 12.30, there was no Vegetable Lasagne available even though it was on the menu. Three of us asked for the pie and our waitress had to check that the pies were available. Fortunately they were but I do expect what’s on the menu to still be available so early in the day. We also waited between 30 and 40 minutes for our food. Not up to scratch in my book.
Lovely pub with good atmosphere. Food little dearer than normal local pubs but well worth it, absolutely delicious. Friendly & courteous staff and service prompt & efficient. Will definitely be returning.
Will be returning
Lady who took us to the table very friendly
Visited Sunday afternoon for a roast, disappointed that there was no veg or mash left to order, waitress advised there was only mushy peas left! So we didn’t go for roast and opted for pizza and a dessert. Half way through my dessert I found a large piece of cling film, after complaining to the waitress and asking for the bill she said she would be right back. 20 minutes later we were still waiting for her to return! After catching another waitress attention we got the bill and left. Whole experience was disappointing and will not be returning anytime soon!
Our local place to go and the Camembert is our absolute favorite. The staff are super helpful and always go that bit further to make your visit pleasant. Throughout these difficult times they really have gone above and beyond to give customer satisfaction.
Lovely food and good service but music overwhelming
My two friends and I had a delicious Sunday lunch. Excellent Yorkshires and gravy and quality of the meat and veg!
Shame no mint sauce left for our lamb, but the redcurrant went lovely too. The young waitresses looking after us were SO pleasant! And very attentive in a good way. Julie, Helen and Alison
My Sunday dinner was absolutely outstanding!! And the service was faultless
Lovely pub for a sunday lunch, food was very tasty although you do have to pay extra for mash which I would expect to come on a Sunday lunch! Had to attract attention of staff to get a drink after sitting for a while but overall I would go back.
Beautiful tasty Sunday lunch but me and my wife were very disappointed with the amount of meat we received on our serving .
Fab atmosphere lovely place
Amazing food and service, in a wonderful venue. My go to place
Food was lovely and food service was generally quick. Some drinks took a little longer. We were sat outside, however on a table right next to the roadside so it was very noisy and breezy. Instead of the garden tunnel you walk through from the car park similar type fences around the perimeter of the decking may have been nicer and made the outdoor dining experience more enjoyable.
We were coming every week for Sunday lunch and other meals from the end of the first lockdown and loved every thing about the place, food unreal service everything, but yesterday we just felt like cattle in and out. We ordered and our lunches were there in seconds it felt like, quick service is great but the food was warm at best and just lacked flavour if I’m honest, and after having to wait 3 weeks to get in for a table as you were obviously busy I was so disappointed!
Overall brilliant experience, warm greeting at the door where we asked if we could sit outside, this request was accepted graciously by the young man on the door who my wife was very fond of. The drinks arrived quick and food was as sharp as a knife, arriving only minutes after we ordered. Beef melted in the mouth and our waitress Anna was outstanding.
Will be returning ASAP.
Had the most amazing Sunday lunch then drinks outside. Attentive staff and fab atmosphere.
A lovely night, great service by Katie- thank you xx
Disappointing all round. Food was overpriced and bland.
Went on the recommendation of friends. Disappointing meal, not worth the money. Ambiance was ok, nothing to write home about. Won’t be going back. We actually had steak the night before and ours was much better!
First time we’d been in a while. Outdoor are was lovely, great service, lovely staff and great atmosphere. A little issue with a piece of plastic in pizza, partner still ate it lol as was delicious. mentioned to waitress just for future reference and it was taken off bill. Will definitely return.
very disappointing night overall with numerous issues!!
firstly we arrived to find out the electricity was off, staff were not very apologetic and we were made to drive to go get cash out only for us to return back and the electricity be back on, wasted journey.
staff then decided that they would take all starters off the menu all together to play “catch up”, which didn’t seem fair on their customers, we were disappointed as we had already identified what we were wanting to eat before our arrival.
overall service was very bad, took a long length of time for orders to be taken and for our food to arrive. staff brought drinks out in plastic glasses although we were sitting inside, which implied they hadn’t been up to date with washing glasses as looking around the restaurant as a whole they had a mix of glass and plastic cups.
from this our food arrived at different times, we didn’t feel as though we were able to eat as a group, meals coming out with approximately 10 minute gaps.
from this our puddings came only to find the custard that came with the apple pie was more like “jelly”. not appealing or appetising at all!!!
it was apparent to us all that another customer who was there last night had also complained about the very bad service, myself and my friends were shocked to find the manager talking to his staff in a disgusting manor about this customer on the main floor, very public for all of us to see and hear the manager of mill house birtley spoke so badly of this customer who was just as disappointed as we were, the manager was saying “he’s had one too many to drink how dare he complain the daft cu” and “who does he think he is after the sh we’ve had tonight”. this is never acceptable.
we are extremely disappointed with last nights meal after looking forward to reuniting with friends after so long.
there was however one lovely lad who served our table, i really feel that by him working here he is not reaching his full potential!
