Such a beautiful place in a part of the city that doesn’t have a whole lot of elegant choices.
So you would think they would capitalize on that by going the extra mile to give the customer an equally special experience.
We made a reservation on Open Table for which whatever reason we were not entitled to points (go figure). We were seated in the bar area which with its soaring ceilings is a great environment... but the acoustics are murder.
The more intimate other rooms are better if you want to actually be able to converse (which during a business lunch is kind of key, you would think).
The barman doubled as waiter. I asked for a Virgin Mary and was told that they didn’t have the mix ...imagine that in a bar!..so I asked for a tomato juice and after 10 minutes he came back and casually said he didn’t have that either. To say he is passive as a server would be an understatement. I had a very good hamburger for which I asked some Dijon mustard. After I had almost finished the burger, the DR hostess brought me Guldens!
It’s such a disappointment that they don’t take advantage of the extraordinary ambience to match it with extraordinary food selection and service to match.
I’ve been there several times as it is incredibly convenient to my company but I have to admit that I’m gonna have to think twice before going again.

This was the second time we tried to go here because the concept is so good and the decor is so pretty. The first time they were closed when they should have been open. This time we were seated in the adjacent Porterhouse Beer Bar which wasn't the atmosphere we sought for a romantic date--both restaurants are linked by open doors and similar but not identical menus. The level of sound on a Thursday at 6pm was deafening, the bar was packed completely. The food was fine. Could even have been good, but it was so hard to focus since we were trying to figure out whether we were even in the right restaurant. (We entered through a middle door and a waiter seated us after waving off our claim that we had reservations, we had no idea if it had been registered - it hadn't - so I had to chase down a different hostess to ask to be checked in and to understand the whole seating process with the linked restaurants.) That aside, the happy hour wine pours were generous, and the appetizer toasts with camembert and figs were delicious. My head was aching before the entrees came so, sorry, can't review them. It's a great place to be loud and drunk and very young and well dressed though.

Service was very friendly and no order issues, but very slow. Overall great atmosphere even the outdoor seating felt like a step outside of crazy tourist NYC.

Even though Open Table let me reserve a time, and I arrived early, the kitchen was closing and almost didn’t get to eat... but they did let me order (about 7:45 p.m. on a Sunday) as the live jazz ensemble was finishing up.
Had a very refreshing gin & tonic with blood orange, salad and huge burger. It was great, as always and more than enough food!
I would suggest you call ahead if you are late on a Sunday.

Waitress was horrible... food was not good at all. The mussels were so bad my friend could not eat them. My salad was bland. The risotto was hard . The drinks were ok not strong just in a goblet with lots of tonic..

Slow service, especially for lunch time in a business area. Food was good, not fantastic. Restaurant was not very full so it was quiet - good for a professional conversation. Outdoor seating is always nice but we chose to sit inside due to the need to go over business.

My friend and I had been here for drinks at the bar months ago and LOVED the ambiance and decor. The bar is honestly one of the cutest NYC bars I’ve ever seen and the live music makes the ambiance so special. With that said, this time we went for dinner. We were continuously flagging someone down to place our order and almost everything they brought out to us was done wrong. The restaurant nor bar was at all busy and somehow no one seemed to see our empty water glasses or drinks. I really wished they had done better because I would be back if I knew the service was at least decent.

We didn't do a comprehensive review, or sample their specialties.
We just enjoyed a simple light meal, on our way to an event.
We shared an order of fish and chips, and a dessert. She had a prosecco, then coffee, and I opted for an English bitter from their bottle beer list.
Service was good and friendly, and we enjoyed our meal and drinks. It was pretty much exactly what we wanted.
We'll be back again.

Best place to drink if you are a gin lover. Different drinks from all over the world. Nice appetizers too and they had live jazz on a Tuesday evening.

The service was terrible. There were seven in our party and I had to flag her down three times to ask for drinks and food. Twice I had to get up to go get her. She never came around even once to ask what else we needed. Finally, when I told her that she needed to pay more attention to our table, she just sulked! The utter lack of service ruined it for me. I practically had to serve myself and for the high prices and so-so food, it’s just not worth it.

I've wanted to try Lovelace since it opened, as New York is lacking English-style gin bars. And now I know I don't have to go back. The bar and dining room is small and quite noisy. The gin and tonics are huge, but pre-mixed (yeah some people like to pour their own tonic). The food is decent. But the single server for the entire room was overwhelmed. It was not a relaxed experience. So Lovelace...been there, done that.

Great place, delicious food. I rated the service lower simply due to one waitress. Turns out she left in between our dinner and dessert and did t tell us or anyone else. Thankfully the bartender stepped in to get the rest of our order and our check. He compensated our 1/2 long wait time for dessert by not charging us for it.

If you ever picture yourself in Paris...1920’s bistro...live jazz trio playing marvelous music...wonderful gin and tonics...delicious food...attractive crowd...well then enjoy an evening in this neighborhood gem. Fortunately, I live close by, so I have the pleasure of enjoying the ambiance often.

I was shocked to show up at our reservation time and have the bartender tell me the place closed up early. We had reconfirmed the day before when prompted. No one told us not to show up on this cold night and we had to mad scramble to find a new place to celebrate my husband's birthday. And I have been waiting days for a response from the place -- to have ZERO follow up from the restaurant after such treatment is really frustrating. The place looks lovely and came recommended, I was sorry to have to leave.

The cocktails were excellent. We had Americanos. Best I ever had. (Beautiful Bar) Food was delicious and well prepared. We shared an Irish Braid as an appetizer. I had delicious short ribs and he had a lamb dish. Even the decaf coffee was outstanding. While the table service was adequate we had issues with the reservations. Our first reservation was for a Sunday night @7:45. We arrived early @ 7:20 and were told that the restaurant closes on Sunday at 7!!! Why were we given a reservation then? Sent to Frances Tavern which is a tourist trap. The foo was horrible. Our second reservation was for 4:30 on a Friday. The place was empty but we were not allowed to sit where we wanted even though we had reservations. We found this “off putting”. The place did not begin to fill up until 6:30 when were leaving. Fortunately the good food and cocktails made up for it.

Made a full reservation for Sunday night, said they were open. We get there early and the bartender says they’ve been closed for 30 mins (it was 7pm). Simple mistake but frustrating for us to travel 45 mins into the city, with a reservation, very excited to go. I bet it’s wonderful there but I’ll never know!

Well I had a reservation for 8:15, however when we got there the place was closed! The gentleman we spoke to said they closed at 7! He said he wasn’t sure why opentable allowed the late reservation. Looks like a cool spot though.

Came for breakfast. They ran out of pancakes (not sure how that even happens), other dishes didn’t come with all ingredients listed. Server apologized and said it was because they were so busy. We were the only customers in sight. Check had added items we hadn’t ordered. Save yourself the trouble.

Unfortunately we had to look for 10 minutes for someone to seat us then another 20 to be acknowledged at our table. We were then told the kitchen was backed up and it would be at least 20-30 minutes to get food. We decided we would give it a try. We waited over 30 minutes and then left. Such s cool place but a huge disappointment. Hate giving such a low rating when we didn’t get to eat but there was no other option provided.

New to the neighborhood and exceeded all expectations. Something for everyone, great place to bring business colleges, friends or family. Went back the same night for the happy hour, then when it ended we tired some of the delicious handmade cocktails in The Love Lace gin and cocktail bar! We decided to go back this weekend for the brunch and to see the Live Music as the table next to us told us it was absolutely fantastic. Excited for the summer as I see they have tons of outdoor seating and I can use a break from Stone Street! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you check it out!
