The Lounge Restaurant by Frogmore Creek
The Lounge Restaurant by Frogmore Creek is located at the base of one of the hottest hotel openings of 2017, Macq01 Hotel. The spaces are elevated over Kings Wharf with the views capturing an aspect of Hobart City and Mt Wellington that are unsurpassed.
The measure of a restaurant is the satisfaction of the experience. I always believe that paying a price for something that i could do at home is not a dining experience but just a meal. My wife an i enjoyed a superior dining experience at Frogmore Creek the other night. We could not fault the meal. The service was excellent and the view was only spoiled by two tug boats moored in front of the restaurant. it is a working port of course so no fault to Frogmore on that count. The wine list is excellent and all in all a wonderful night.
We were seated on a couch with table in front. We asked if we could be moved as I have a back disease but all tables were booked. I understand this but they never offered us a seat when tables did leave.
Our entrees were great but our mains were disappointing. Our plates were cold. My brisket was Luke warm and tasted and looked like cat food. My partners salmon was like mush and the skin was moist and not crisp. For the price you charged for a brisket which is a second grade cut of meat is not right. Our main courses came out 5 minutes after our entrees were called away. Very rushed.
excellent food and service... a bit expensive, but overall thumbs up.
Nice view. Great entrees and deserts. Terrible vegetarian main we both sent it back and had 2nd entrees. The main was removed from the bill but we were charged for an extra bottle of wine we did not order.
Overall good but not great.
Absolutely beautiful food, service and outlook. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
This is a really lovely place to eat and I had the best salmon I had in Tasmania. My husband's beef was a little dry.
Very easy to book online. Staff very professional & attentative. Small menu but good choices, excellent wine list with local wines, especially Frogmore(!!) well represented. The dishes were beautifully presented & were exceptionally tasty. We would definitely recommend Frogmore Creek to friends.
Meals were far too small and way overpriced. It took all of 30mins to have two courses and still have to go and eat elsewhere after spending close to $150 for two people. Would not recommend unless you are after an overpriced snack.
Wonderful ambience of the place, combined with professional service and that amazing food is making a perfect evening.
Absolutely outstanding service, knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful table with lovely view
The oysters and fish are fresh from the sea! The wine is good for value. The restaurant offers a spectacular view of the waterfront. Great ambiance!
Extremely elegant food in both presentation and taste .
The room has a air of quiet casual Sophistication, only surpassed by the unassuming brilliance of the dishes served .The 'Frogmore Creek' wines match well and compliment each course .
Hobart has some of Australia's great restaurants, and this is anouther NOT to be missed
Food was great and well presented, service wasn’t as attentive as it should have been but overall is was “good”
Hands down one of, if not, the best food we've ever eaten! Thanks so much for making my girlfriend's 30th birthday dinner so memorable - compliments to the chef and all staff!
The food is fantastic and the service excellent! It would be lovely to sit outside on the balcony if weather permits! Try the salmon with green curry sauce
A pleasant evening in a lovely location with stunning food. The evening was only let down slightly by price of the in-house (Frogmore) wines. The wines are very good, but over-priced here.
Staff didn’t know origin of the ingredients, delivered incorrect plate to guests, food was fussy and well below value for the price. The octopus was not fresh, and the restaurant was unbearably hot.
I was willing to give Frogmore another chance given my first experience with international guests was also below par. We will not be going back.
Have eaten at The Lounge 3 times now and every time has been exceptional food and a
have had great night.
Will be back again!
Unfortunately our waitress had no idea about the menu and could not answer our questions. We felt for the high standard of food the tables deserved a table cloth. We had dined at Frogmore at Cambridge the day before and were delighted with the service, ambience and menu. We have dined at the Lounge before and would certainly would dine there again these are just suggestions.
Best dining experience in Hobart that is yet to disappoint
The spanner crab was the standout dish- would happily dine just on that
Food was amazing. Our wait staff could have been more engaging (she struggled with understanding our French visitors but did not ask them to repeat themselves, rather looked to the next person for help. She did not do anything wrong, but could have given a more professional approach. We were left unattended for 15mins before being asked about drink orders).
The wine by the glass was also limited. Would have been nice to see more options.
Very creative, delicious, and well decorated dishes.
We loved our dinner here. The food was spectacular in every way and the service outstanding. The cocktails as well! Heavenly! The only negative for us which isn’t big is that we booked at 8pm thinking there would be no children. But the couple next to us brought their toddler and while he was fairly quiet most of the time we found it distracting when they were playing with him and feeding him. Maybe after a certain time places like these can be child free.
We have been to the restaurant a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. But this last time we thought the menu was very limited and a bit disappointing. The food we ordered appeared to have been created well beforehand and plated up when ordered, very disappointing, would not go again.
Frankly a not to be missed dining experience whilst in Hobart!
Entree’s where fantastic- main meal was dry over cooked beef - we put that down to a slow night and slow food turn over - desert was nice
The food was amazing. We loved our whole experience. We will visit again.
i think there should be a few more choices, particularly for main course
Enjoyed the entrees with a couple of disappointments in mains in particular the brisket. Desserts a must.
Fantastic location by the water. Staff were great - really paying attention to what you needed. The food was good (not great, but good) and SO beautifully presented. That alone is worth going to see and eat. The desserts in particular were super creative. And the fried potatoes were amazing if you like an occasstional deep fried something. The only downside for us was that the four person table we were at was a bit wide for relaxed conversation between the four of us across the table, especially as the restaurant filled up and got noisy. I would work on the size of the square tables (as opposed to the round ones for 4 that looked much more manageable).
Simply amazing food. Fantastic Location. Recommended highly
Very good food and ambience, excellent food presentation, wine list a little limited
The food was absolutely superb and beautifully presented. The staff were very attentive - special mention to Laura and Borce.
Thanks for a great night.
Wonderful views of the harbour. Great service and atmosphere. Really enjoyed the Salmon green curry with a glass of the 20 degrees south Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. The desserts in particular were spectacular, the Fish Bowl was a stand out in presentation and taste.
My main course (chicken) was overcooked and hence, very dry. The chicken was on the bone, and therefore quite hard to devour with a knife and fork and this establishment is too classy to be using your fingers. All other meals were quite nice, but also quite small for the exorbitant price. We did not order dessert, so I can't comment on this. The chairs were very comfortable, but the table was too wide, so we were seated quite far from our guests which made conversation difficult. The wait staff were helpful and polite.
The sevice was first class and the meal was superb. I would recommend the restaurant looking for fine service and dining.
Superb as always, will definitely return. We usually dine at the Cambridge Restaurant, so glad to see the same great quality, flair and ingenuity in these dishes
As a wine club member household and regular diners at both the Cambridge and Lounge restaurants was less outstanding than usual - not sure what the big difference was other than a couple of the dishes were not of the same standard to our palate as we experienced previously. All in all the service was great - as usual as were the wines - just a little disappointing after eating at the Cambridge restaurant a couple of weeks ago :-)
Service fantastic, the waitress was lovely let me smell a liqueur i was not familar with to see if i wanted to try it, helped me pick one i would like. Crab entree was divine, chicken yummy and dessert was divine. Second time we have been here and as before delicious. Fantastiv views over the water and fantastic service, from walking in the door, to table service.
The Lounge Restaurant by Frogmore Creek was a fabulous choice to celebrate a friend's birthday after travelling all the way from Sydney to do it. The service was impeccable and so compassionate when one of our number became unwell and needed a taxi home. Poor girl didnt even get to sip the champagne! The food was exquisite! So delicious and so imaginatively presented. I loved the tiny servings of Yorkshire puddings, compressed apple, red cabbage and potato rosti that accompanied the pork belly which itself was so crunchy and delectable. And the desserts: white chocolate fish in the fish pond, chocolate pieces of eight in the buried treasure. Such fun. If visiting Hobart this restaurant is an absolute must. The food is sensational, the service sublime and the cost amazingly reasonable. Overall, a perfect way to celebrate a milestone birthday as it was such a memorable experience.
