The Lore of the Land
The building dates back to the late 1700s, and since 1829 has been a pub.
All of our food is freshly prepared each day by our chefs in the open kitchen upstairs. Our menus have been created specifically to be shared and change weekly according to what’s in season and offered locally. Our popular Sunday lunches are traditional roasts slow-cooked with all the trimmings.
Sustainable and fresh produce is supplied by Ashgrove Farm.
Seasonal and locally sourced sharing plates are available all day in the pub, alongside a range of craft beers, including our very own Gritchie brews, boutique spirits and French wines.
We offer private drinks and dining for up to 22 sit-down guests on a secluded floor of the pub. Please contact us for a viewing or to discuss your needs be it business or pleasure. A deposit may be required of parties of 8 or more.
My wife and I came for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect! We loved working our way down the 'British Tapas' style menu and the food was outstanding. The staff were great and we both commented on the lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely come again!
Thank you for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed your anniversary dinner with us. Hope to welcome you again soon!
Absolutely loved this pub. Excellent service, we were really looked after, and the food was outstanding. A great place, I highly recommend.
Great food and service, I would take clients back to eat.
Thank you for your review. Hope to welcome you again soon!
A fabulous Sunday roast with friends, starting off the Christmas celebrations early. Food was delicious and the pub is really cosy, with a lovely atmosphere. I went for the beef and it was outstanding. Can't wait to come back on a weekday and try the non-roast menu. Thank you for a lovely Sunday : )
Fantastic! Great spot to catch up with friends, lovely grub and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
The chefs in this restaurant are absolute geniuses. The food is some of the best I’ve had in the world and no words can explain JUST how good the food really is. Thank you Mikey and team!
Thank you for your kind review. Hope to welcome you again soon!
Absolutely phenomenal. Nobody does flavour and texture like these guys.
great food and wine and a lively atmosphere would definitely come again
Great experience. Food excellent.
Lovely decor, beautiful chilled atmosphere and friendly staff.
We had a wonderful time at Lore of the Land. The staff were so friendly & the food was incredible! We look forward to coming again!!
We went for our anniversary and the night was simply outstanding. They made us feel really special for the occasion and the food (we tried many items), service, and ambiance were absolutely top notch. Every employee was first rate. We cannot say enough good things and we cannot wait to go back!
Definitely the best roast in London - and we have tried everywhere!
We had a lovely time at The Lore of the Land, they added a lovely birthday touch which was nice. Amazing food and good service just a bit too pricey.
Reasonably priced, Incredibly delicious food. Professional and kind service. Overall one of my favourite places to eat, definitely will recommend it to everyone I know.
Very good Sunday lunch, and exemplary service. Would thoroughly recommend.
Been waiting to try, and did not disappoint! Excellent food and beer for a Sunday roast. Puds and starters are small, so I recommend getting a few to share. I have already booked in again for when family visits in a few weeks. Great location, too!
My favourite roast dinner in London!
Thank you very much!
Fantastic meal, food was great, service amazing! Will definitely be back
Amazing place, always love coming here, the staff are fantastic, the food is outstanding. It’s a must see/do place!
First visit and already booked again for next week. Highly recommended
Good Sunday Lunch - potatoes were exceptional but the meat was a slight let down. Overall good but was slightly disappointed.
One of the best pubs in london, hands down. Great food from Head Chef Mikey, great beer from the Gritchie brewery and great service all night. Couldn’t of asked for a better surrounding on a date night with the girlfriend. Thanks Lore of the Land!
This is like a Disney version of a pub! We ate from the set menu at lunchtime and the food was delicious but portions were quite small. Food itself was delicious though and service great. Will definitely be coming back...
The most delicious Sunday Roast in London.. the meat is absolutely divine
Thank you for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed your meal. Please do visit us again soon!
If you’re looking for somewhere somewhat quirky with good food, nice buzz and great staff. Not at all pretentious. Only negative is wine list. Rather limited and quite pricey. Overall, highly recommended.
Fantastic meal. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Loved the tartlets, marmite toast and the oysters were incredible.
Love Lore of the Land. Proper pub downstairs, where the beer is outstanding (especially the Guinness). And then a great restaurant upstairs. Only improvement would be the portion sizes, but the flavour, quality and service are amazing.
Thank you! Hope to see you again soon.
Excellente cuisine inventive et surprenante
I've visited multiple times, the food and booze is very good. A lovely place to be (perhaps a little busy for my liking but I'm easily stressed).
I did have one slight issue with the scotch egg which is it had a strange watery layer to it, still tasted great and I reckon it was more of a one off.
I'll be back again soon no doubt in any case and will report again.
Didn’t know what to expect but can honestly say it was one the best meals we’ve had in a long time
Sincere thanks for your kind words. We hope to welcome you again soon! Best wishes, LotL team
Had a lovely lunch, beautifully designed and even though it was busy it never felt it.
Had the lamb which was superb, my only complaint was it was not hot enough.
Best balance between a traditional pub environment with actual quality food. We enjoyed everything we tasted (the only disappointment was that the scallops were cold, but the presentation was beautifully presented in its shell, which is not a great heat conductor- so I get it) The partridge was fabulous and hake. But the best of all was our server, who made us feel like part of the family. Naturally I am now doubting I have her name right, but I believe it is Noemi, and she finished the meal with “it was so nice to meet you” - a small personal touch that I am sure she didn’t even realize had such a genuine impact. I work in guest relations management for upscale hotels, and her presence and service has remained with me throughout the whole weekend (even if her name escapes me!)
Loved it. The food, the service, the drinks....our group really couldn't have asked for more
Thank you for your kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us! We hope to welcome you again soon.
