Our starters were extremely Luke warm on arrival and my main dish had sauce all over the side of the plate that the chef hadn’t cleaned off, we had two drinks each, a house wine and a pint of estrella and they came to £30! £15 per round.
One thing I will say is the staff were brilliant, very friendly and welcoming
Food good but not great, wine very good and service and ambiance very good, would book again- great value for money
Beautiful food and service! Definitely will be going back again.
Waiter had poor personal hygiene, there were no roast potatoes on the roast dinner and the waiter forgot to bring a cup of tea that we ordered. Expected better from Hilton
Disappointing, I wasn't convinced that the waitress had taken down our order correctly. Another waitress had to take our order. The drinks took too long to arrive this was 2pm and not busy in the bar or restaurant. A mojito should be served with crushed ice and the mint should not be wilted The food was mediocre for the price, as an owner of a boat when mooring we will go elsewhere.
Service was excellent, menu had a good choice and was resonably priced. Food was piping hot and well presented. Only point I could make is that the vegetables were a little under cooked for my taste but that said i was pleased with my choices. Waiter was polite and chatty and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Good quite location. Sunday platter impressive however meat was chewy. Waiter brought us more of the pork.
Had a lovely evening at the lock with my partner . Ordered a some drinks ( cocktails are lovely ) and the food was really really tasty and nicely presented. We were told the food would be an hour due to lots of orders but actually we did not wait that long I n the end . But we were happy to be away from the main centre and crowds and take in the lovely views of the canal and all the pretty lights .Was a special evening .the Staff where very accommodating!
So, the first I went, my partner had a main and a dessert and we both had a drink. The food came out, but the drinks didn’t... the waiter didn’t realise until my partner had finished his food... we never received them!
The second time we went, there were 2 staff on shift, one of which spoke hardly any English! The pint my partner had was pulled dreadfully and his glass was served dripping wet - the lady behind the bar couldn’t understand what I was ordering! Our order was completely wrong, our food was cold, my partners dessert didn’t even come out! We had to go to the hotel reception to ask for someone to serve us!!!! THERE WERE NO STAFF AROUND.
There was a smashed wine glass left one the floor for 50 minutes!!
We got all our food and drinks for free after complaining....
This is not what you expect from a Hilton Hotel, i am paying top price for supposedly top food... this wasn’t the case AT ALL!! Do not recommend.
Absolutely awful, food was cold and the price is absolutely ridiculous
I booked a table here for a belated birthday celebration. My sister and I had mushrooms and tomato and mozzarella for starters. Then for main I ordered the salmon teriyaki with a side of sweet potato fries. My sister ordered the steak but was told throughout the starter that they didn’t have any so that was a bit disappointing but she had the salmon too. The main definately was not disappointing it was very tasty. We also had some whispering hills rose wine which was a perfect example of an American white Zinfandel. As we had been let down with the steak and the waitress heard it was my birthday she gave us a complimenta glass of fizz each which was a lovely touch.
Fantastic service, the food was very good too.
50% off food in January is excellent value for money.
Went for our wedding anniversary and throughly enjoyed it.
This was the second time of dining at The Lock Kitchen & Bar, we were not disappointed at all, and once again lovely staff
Had the rump steak, asked for medium rare, but came more rare. However, service was very good!
A wonderful lunch in a quiet restaurant. The service was quick and the food excellent
The customer service was brilliant throughout. That was the highlight, as I recently moved to Leeds and have experienced poor customer service in other places.
The food was also very good for the price!
Lovely staff, food was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back!
No sense of customer service, kept waiting, with no feedback, for a table that was booked! Eventually had to walk out!
Our waiter Ben was very helpful and friendly. Service was quick. I was having a belated mothers day . Enjoyed every minute .
8.30 our table was booked finally got our meal at 9.45 steaks very chewy sent them back, the place outside is nice but for 2 gin and tonics at £21.00 so it should be
We were bought afternoon tea with Prosseco on a Groupon voucher as a gift. I booked online but when we arrived we did not appear to have a reservation despite our confirmation email. The lovely lady who greeted us advised us there had been an error made as they did not accept Groupon vouchers on Saturdays. However she agreed to honour it and found us a table near the window within half an hour. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented and everything tasted amazing. The staff were welcoming and very attentive and the views were amazing. Can't thank you enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.
Just make sure you don’t buy the grilled chicken with fries and garlic, very un professional food, even yourself can do better at home, honestly , i m not joking, food is dissapointing. The only good thinkg about that place is the ambient.
Valentina served us. She was polite and very efficient. Excellent service.
Good friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Great location
Had a lovely afternoon tea with my wife..
Food and service was fantastic
Lovely restaurant alongside Leeds canal which provides a good choice menu to suit all tastes.
The standard of food and service are as good as you will get anywhere, prices are also very reasonable.
Very nice restaurant but we were charged twice for service. I don't agree with service charge at all, let alone being charged twice!
Went on a Friday night and it was relatively busy, although the bottom section had been closed off. Service as pretty slow but pleasant, however, the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen was poor. The starters were fine but the main courses of fish and lamb were cool at best, nowhere near hot enough, and the lamb would have benefitted from another 30-40 minutes cooking to get it to the tender state it should have been.
Disappointing as the Doubletree City Cafes are usually good. Let down by the standard of cooking.
Lovely dishes served in a nice location by the canal.
All dishes come freshly cooked and the menu has a nice choice of British and European cuisine .
I booked a surprise afternoon tea for my mother at the City Café at the DoubleTree in Leeds Canal Wharf. Some other relatives turned up for this too. The café was quiet and the staff were very attentive - we started with a glass of Prosecco (of course) and this was soon followed by a selection of sandwiches, nibbles and cakes which were all very tasty and of a high standard. There was tea too, of course. We didn't feel hurried or hassled and we had a lovely get together for a couple of hours on a wet Thursday afternoon. One of the highlights was a special dessert delivered on a chocolate inscribed plate with the waitresses singing "Happy Birthday" to my mother. All of this helped to make it a memorable day for all of us.
We booked our Office Christmas Lunch here at short notice. The booking staff were friendly and helpful, the serving staff were the same. The food was very good but as there were very few people in the restaurant there was very little atmosphere.
We were disappointed that there was no Christmas atmosphere either. The background music played very few Christmas songs and the decorations were non-existent.
Overall good but could have been much better.
We booked City Cafe because it was one of only two restaurants with a table for two available on 17th December at short notice. Everywhere else was packed, but this restaurant was empty - probably we should have guessed that things wouldn't be good. The food tasted ok but it was presented like a cheap pub lunch. I had the pumpkin veloute, which had a fatty lump of something unidentifiable as a garnish. My husband had the cheesecake for dessert, which looked like a child had assembled it. The biscuit base was almost an inch thick, making it very difficult to eat with just a spoon (as no fork was provided). We paid £70 but we felt it was worth little more than half that amount. No wonder this restaurant was almost completely empty so close to Christmas, when all of the surrounding restaurants and bars were packed. Definitely not recommended!
When we arrived we had the place to ourselves so were expecting a poor do.. We were pleasantly surprised..
The food was of a high quality, was a touch expensive but overall worth it..
We'll go back - but a bit later in the evening so it's not empty..
We went upstairs to the sky lounge afterwards for some very nice cocktails and an excellent view...
Honestly cannot fault the food however waiting 1hr 20 minutes for our mains after starters isn't acceptable. The staff didn't seem to care and the manager was running round like a headless chicken, this was the disappointment of the evening. If the service had been better this is easily 5 stars.
I was staying at the hotel and started my evening at the Sky Lounge then made my way down stairs to the restaurant, it was around 7:30pm and we was greated by someone who obviously did not want to be there, in the bar next door and outside was a party using a few staff members to serve the Buffett.
No one in the restaurant seemed happ, the food was good not hot but teased ok but was highly priced. We had starters and a main but due to the lack of service we decided to leave, 10% is forced onto your bill which should be an option, especially when the only service was bring your food to the table.
Two of the waiting staff where pleasant enough but I do not think they wanted to be there.
I would advise anyone either staying at the hotel or visiting the restaurant to go elsewhere
Avoid this place!
There was a good choice of food on the menu, but we didn't appreciate how small the portions would be, would advise side orders for those with larger appetites! This did make it a little expensive for what you got. But it did taste nice.
Simple food, superbly prepared and served with care and attention. I was even prepared to overlook the "signiture coctails" printed in the menu. Which is rare for me. We will definitely be going back in the summer for a riverside meal.
The food was reasonable and the market menu was decent value. However, the service was embarrasingly bad: only 4 of the 5 diners received a menu; they got the very basic drinks order wrong; gave some of us the wrong drinks (when they did arrive); couldn't remember who had ordered what; never asked if we wanted desert and/or coffee and took an age to give us the bill. I had to walk into another part of the hotel to ask a member of staff if we could order some coffee 30 minutes after we had finished eating. In short, the service was so bad, it was comical! A shame really as the setting is pleasant (overlooking the canal).
The service is below par, even on a hot day... I didn't get more than a glass of water (I asked them twice). The food was too salty (the scallops ) or when I ordered a cod fish I got dry salmon instead and very bland with only carrots as a side. All that the dessert was the worst... Microwave heated cupcakes and 1 scoop of overdue ice cream...
Ate here two nights ago. The service and food were both excellent. We were staying at the hotel and our booking included evening meals which was 3 course off the 'market menu' or with the option to order off the 'a la carte menu' to the value of £15. I didn't feel the market menu had much choice and I ordered off the 'a la carte menu'. I choose asparagus starter which was great and Yorkshire wagyu beef sirloin steak for main which was exceptional and cooked to perfection (although a little pricey, I would highly recommend this, it was delicious). My husband ordered a black pudding starter and stuffed belly pork dish for main which was also excellent and full of flavour. The 3 course off the market menu was excellent value for money, which we would highly recommend if the choices available are to your taste.
