Dad was keen for High Tea for Father's Day. My research indicated that the Intercontinental Hotel offering was the best in Wellington. I could see why -- the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. The food was incredible. Each element was carefully crafted with love, with each bite a taste sensation. The bottomless barista-made coffee and fine tea selection was the cherry on the exquisite cake. I would highly recommend booking High Tea at the Intercontinental Hotel for your next special outing.

We love high tea and decided to celebrate our mother’s 74th with Intercontinental Wellington. The service was fabulous and the wait staff very attentive. Unfortunately the food was quite a let down. The savoury food was exceptional in flavour, however there was not enough. There was way too much sweet food; two tiers. There were seven of us and all said there was too much sweet, which not most was. It eaten. We noticed other tables too had left quite a lot of the sweet food; but all the savoury were gone. A better option is to have a tier of hot savoury, a tier of cold savoury and a tier of sweets. This would be a great balance.

The high tea was wonderful. Service was friendly and the table setting was beautiful. The only suggestion I would make is a few less sweet items, replacng them with savoury treats.

Booked a high tea online for a 50th birthday celebration - first time ever at a high tea - and were told on arrival we could not be catered for. Post-COVID online booking wasn’t lining up with real world. We were utterly disappointed. To top it off I had a glass of wine knocked over me as some food was placed on the table!
Now, to be fair - the staff owned the problem and were very apologetic and generous in making up for it.
Still, didn’t get the experience of what we were looking forward to on the day,

This is the second time we have had a special high tea at the Intercontinental Wellington and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

After checking reviews of a variety of Afternoon Teas in Wellington, we picked The Lobby Lounge for my Birthday Afternoon Tea. We were not disappointed; the quality and quantity of the food was outstanding!
The only negative (possibly) was the table was almost too small to hold everything, so it felt a bit cramped at times!
The lobby location was a great place to people watch; airline crew, a bride and her father and a coach tour.
We were well attended too, and once we had eaten all that we could, we were not pressured in to leaving (unlike at other establishments), so we were free to soak up the atmosphere.
We will definitely be back, even if it’s just for a drink/snack and people watching rather than Afternoon Tea, though we’ll be back for that too!
Have been raving about the food and service to everyone who has asked what I did for my Birthday.

The service, tea and quality of the food is worth a mention. Though the food was great, a little more savoury would have been nice as we both suffered from a bit of a sugar high towards the end of the afternoon. High tea at the InterContinental definitely deserves my recommendation.

Amazing value and the food was so delicious. I have been to quite a few high teas and food wise this was at the top. Only thing that stopped five stars was that we weren't checked on for quite some time, and I had to really sought out a waiter to get some more tea.

We were really well looked after. In our party of three; two were pregnant and one person was gluten free, our high tea was catered to our needs perfectly and no one felt they had less of an experience. Food was amazing and well worth the money
Fabulous all round

I organised a surprise High Tea for my friend. We were a table of five. The high tea was beautiful and so fresh and delicious and we got the coolest boxes to take our left overs home in. My only piece of feedback was the tables were too small for the food and cups but really ... that's a pretty minor thing to have to complain about. This was a wonderful experience that I can't wait to repeat!

Great experience and well worth it. Tips for improvement: was disappointed to be told that our high tea would be in the restaurant and not in The Lobby (as promoted). Staff were ok when we asked if we could be in the Lobby. They also forgot to take our tea order so I had to ask.

We added someone to our group but there was no flexibility which ended up being fine because there was plenty of food. I took the kids as a birthday surprise and has booked online. I wasn’t given the option of kids high tea. The waitress then informed me of the option but couldn’t explain the difference and then said we couldn’t have it anyway and the teable was too small for all the things that came for four people. The food was exquisite and there was plenty but the service was fairly average.

Best value for money high tea in Wellington. Have been back twice now and each time I'm impressed. Great atmosphere for a relaxing afternoon of conversation and decadence with friends or family. You will leave very fill and possibly with a doggy bag of sweet treats for later.

Quality of sweet items & sandwiches was superb. There were too many sweet items & not enough savoury items.
Of the savoury items - the scones were stale & quite chunky in appearance. I'm not sure I would label a piece of blue cheese on a slice of apple as a savouty "high tea" item - more like a post dinner item.
