The Kitchen Tootgarook
Perfect place to pop in for a delicious brunch with friends. The coffee and meals were both absolutely scrumptious! Highly recommended. Small cafe in size, so book ahead if you're going in a large group.
Lovely night out at a fantastic local restaurant! Our meals were delicious, the service was fantastic.
Celebrated father in laws birthday. All family members were well catered for from 7 to 84 years. Relaxed atmosphere with tentative staff. Not a huge menu selection however good produce.
Lovely food and lovely staff great space would highly recommend!
This was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the moment I walked in I felt relaxed and the hosts looked after us very well. The ambience of The Kitchen was cosy and the food was delicious. Will definitely return when in town again.
The staff were very friendly and we all enjoyed the banter .
Food and choice of wine was excellent . I Never get tired of eating here as the menu changes with the seasons . Always fresh , local and interesting.
And very reasonably priced
Highly recommend, food was amazing as was the service we received.
Found the service and food very good would recommend your restaurant to friends,BUT the noise level
has put us off it was very noisy and we found we were yelling louder just to be heard.
DO NOT ORDER The warm Halumi avocado salad, a disaster combination, disgustingly sweet overpowered with honey and spinach saturated in oil, soo greazy. The holumi strip cut extreamly thin therefore arrived hard, very dried out and cold, (i had to ask the waiter for a wedge of lemon to squeeze on the halumi). As for the avocado...where was it?? When the head waiter asked us how were the meals. I was honest and told him the above. He said "oh your paying for your meal 😱 (a very unprofessional reply, we were shocked). The waiter continued further saying "but yeh, um, i'll check with the cook as the salad should of been dressed with mustard seeds, honey, lemon". The head waiter never came back to our table, instead he thought it was more important to go out for a cigarette. I know this because our table was seated infront of the window with prime position view of the alley where he was smoking. Very dissapointed with the meals and service. We drove 45min to this restarant on the mornington peninsula. We booked ahead made reservation only to be highly put off. A waste of our good money, fuel and our time. The only good thing is the restarant has a lovely mural street appeal.
We loved our dining experience so much we returned the following night.
Beautifully prepared and presented, great flavours
Excellent service. Great food. Will definitely be returning soon.
Lovely food great service just a little expensive for us on the entrees I’m afraid but we did enjoy waitress was awesome
We were looking for a good cup of coffee, some fresh, tasty food and a pleasant environment. We got all of that and more! Great service and real cloth serviettes! The coffee alone is worth a return visit. We will be back, although a bit earlier in the day to try its brekkie menu, which finishes at 11:30 daily.
Loved the ambience of the place and food was good and good service
Once again we had a wonderful meal at The Kitchen. All the meals were delicious, the service fabulous and wine perfect.
Delicious menu & lovely accomodating staff!
The Kitchen was a perfect Sunday morning breakfast for my girls weekend away!
Food was delicious and full of taste and textures. Wonderful evening!
Food and service was fantastic, my only complaint was it was very dimmed, would have preferred more light. but other than that a great place to go for dinner
A cosy little place with delicious food and great service. Loved it! Will definitely recommend and will be back!
The woman who owns the restaurant was very abrupt and rude, didn’t receive any friendly service. The food was average at best - my friend had raw egg in he meal, I had an over cooked poached egg and burnt sourdough. Very, very disappointed with the service and food, would not recommend.
Cannot believe I have lived in Rye and Rosebud so long and find this gem of a restaurant last Friday after a friend told me I must go....
We will be regulars from now on.
Local gem. Offering delicious food and wine in a cosy dining space. We'll be back.
Amazing food and very friendly and helpful staff. Recommend the Foragers Delight for entree and the steak for dinner, the sauce is also to due for. Beautiful ambiance and decor. Definately go back to sample other menu items.
Enjoyed a beautiful Saturday night dinner out with our group of six. Everyone very impressed with the lovely ambience, helpful staff and super delicious food. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
We had a wonderful Queens Birthday high tea at The Kitchen .
The food and service was , as usual , extremely high quality .
We took our 2 kids here when staying in rye and the food was excellent. They were looked after and the meals for my wife and I were excellent. Would go back
Fantastic coffee, close to the beach, friendly staff & delicious food!
Great menu and lovely service in a comfortable setting
We absolutely love coming to the Kitchen. The food is outstanding in a really homely, cosy setting.
Took my wife for her first mother’s day. Food was amazing (Sunday roast), atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Safe are lovely
A very enjoyable Mother’s Day lunch in a comfortable atmosphere- good food and service. Thank you!
Had a great catch up with friends over lunch. Love the ambience . The menu is imaginative and offers different options to other cafes nearby and is delicious! The staff are ver attentive. Will definitely come back for an evening meal.
What a great find in this part of the world, and we loved it that we were away from the main touristy strips too. The food was well presented, and flavours were well combined and we were so impressed to find this high standard here. Would just say though, our 4 yo was better off with the "real" menu rather than the kids menu chicken parma (which was dry and lacking flavour). Unfortunately for me, he preferred my duck ballotine. Lovely feel to the whole place, glowing in candlelight as well as cosy. I would just say, perhaps give the wait staff a more formal uniform, it sort of let down the whole vibe of the place which gave me such a great impression, until I noticed the staff were just in their own black tops and black tights/leggings. But overall, we loved it and it was the dining highlight of our long weekend away. Wish this was my local!
Love this local restaurant. Food is always superb, staff are friendly and helpful.
We ate in for The Kitchen's Thursday night curry night - friendly, helpful staff and a very delicious dinner!
Split bill, food yummy, great for groups
The service and food at the kitchen was amazing. We took a retreat group there on a Saturday night for dinner. It was one of the highlights of the trip. The food was amazing. Well made, well presented and delivered by very knowledgeable staff. Thanks again. We will bringing all our wellness groups here.
We are regulars for breakfast but have never eaten here for dinner. We had a family birthday and thought we’d give it a try.
Great food and wonderful staff and ambience. A bit pricey, but you have to pay for good food!
Will definitely be back for dinner again.
Always enjoy The Kitchen. One of our favs. Different spaces for everyone.
