The King & Queen
Delicious food and friendly staff - it's great to be back!
Lovely friendly staff, the girls do an excellent job. Food menu simple but delicious. Always making sure your glass isn't empty for long. Highly recommend this pub for drinks or food! Also has a beautiful garden which is perfect in the sunshine.
Even though it was raining and outside the good was great and so much better than when it first reopened for outdoor dining x
A lovely lunch of pie vegetables and chips followed by a nice slice of cheesecake! Lovely quiet garden, attentive staff and good value for money.
Visited for Sunday lunch, nice setting in the garden and service was attentive but unfortunately the food and prices were quite poor.
One roast lamb and one roast beef dinner, :- meats both nice but that’s where it ended. Youkrshires over done to the point of dust when cutting, potatoes under cooked even though cut very small, roasted parsnips severely under cooked and roasted is questionable. Carrots and cabbage (carrots and cabbage cheap and cheerful on any dinner) but still not great and thin and tasteless gravy!
Upshot is nice setting but your roasts at home are far superior.
Also be wine aware! A- 250ml glass of pino Grigio will set you back £9.20 !!! Yes just one!!!
Ask for the drinks list before ordering to avoid a bitter after taste when the bill arrives.
Fish and chips tasted like the fish had gone off. Korean burger had no seasoning tasted very dry.
It was my first visit to the pub, and it was a great visit, given the current Covid restrictions. I'm sure things would have been even better, had we not been stuck outdoors. Lovely staff, good service and excellent food. We'll definitely be back!
A brilliant time out for the 3 of us lovely food and service..
Great setup in the garden, brilliant service and lovely food, would definitely recommend
Brilliant time. Really friendly staff. Great to see them open again.
First visit-Heaters in the garden!! Staff helpful and friendly, food hot, good value and very god. A really good evening and will return. Thank you
Great friendly efficient staff welcoming and very well organised
Amazing chilled environment. Wayne and team looked after us very well in a cute little garden which was very relaxing. Will definitely be back with the kids next time.
Fantastic service. Food was not great and very simple. Obvious signs of trying to keep their costs down.
Lovely pub and graded! Great menu and food was delicious! Staff very friendly and helpful!
Still no heaters outside so wrap up warm. You would of thought if they wanted customers then make it comfortable
Very lovely place with great and helpful staff. Very nice food, good portions.
Six of us had drinks and food.
Service was good
Food was nice
COVID safety elements in place
Lovely pub. manager was nice
Liked the bonfire outside
Very good service from waiting staff in the garden although freezing cold weather
Nice food, nice garden. Due to the current restrictions we had to sit outside, the outside space is nice but perhaps needs some heating. Staff are great. The food is a little overpriced maybe but we’ll be back regardless.
Poor quality food and highly overpriced for what it is. Felt very disappointed with both meals that were bought out. Staff attempted to light an outdoor heater next to where we were sat and failed miserably, why bother! Overcharged us for our food by a substantial amount and then refunded when queried. Huge let down in terms of going out for a meal to a restaurant. Wouldn't recommend and will not be going back, I will be sticking to the restaurants in West Malling next time.
Felt very COVID safe. One way system in place and plenty of antibacterial gel available.
Fabulous tasty food as ever. Polite and friendly staff. Easy to book a table. Menu still has lots of variety. Always a few vegetarian options. The puddings are a very generous portion size! Paying for our meal was efficient and easy at our table.
Lovely garden for dining and drinks
Good value for money
Pleased with my experience and would return and recommend to family and friends
All very good except no cooked food available on the day.
Really disappointed. The King and Queen 'of old' has disappeared. Even making allowances for emerging from lock-down our experience was really poor. It now feels more like a drinkers pub than a place to take the family of lunch or dinner. Loud music punped out into the garden, tables of serious drinkers effing and blinding, food that was served barely warm, uncooked chicken and burgers. And a waitress who when she dropped a spoon said 'oh sh*t, sorry", didnt impress. We wont be back.
1st time out since lockdown 3.0..sun was shining..great service and food...such a lovely midweek lunch..highly recommend
Always a fantastic experience, the garden was lively without being noisy and the staff very attentive. We didn't eat this time but have before and the food is brilliant.
No food available on 12/4, but it was well organised, Covid safe and the service was fantastic... well done we had a lovely evening
The only thing I can say bad about my experience was that it got very cold sitting outside. Some heating would make the experience so much better
Good food and service. The Covid procedures were well enforced
Lovely vegan fish (banana blossom) and chips. Nice outdoor seating with lots of birds.
Had a lovely meal outside in the garden . Helpful and friendly.
Great service.. well covid organised... food and staff all excellent
The food was delicious and the staff were friendly, will definitely be visiting again.
We had a good meal at the King and Queen supported by good service. Out of the three of us two had already decided before we arrived to have crab. It was a bit of a downer that it was not available. Happily the sirloin of beef I had instead was excellent.
Smoked chicken and bacon sandwich was questionable but the cheese and onion sandwich was nice with nice bread. Overall good, friendly staff and money offered off for the sandwich as you would expect. I would go back again as I think just unlucky with the chicken sandwich.
Great food and service. Only marked down on ambience as current restrictions meant it was quieter than it usually would have been on a Friday lunchtime. The team couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we enjoyed our experience.
The place itself is quite quaint if not a little dated (furniture). Menu was ok although desserts were disappointing. Overall it was good for a traditional ‘pub grub’ dinner.
Not as good as previous visits but steak cooked very well. Portions on small side.
