I wanted to like The Keeper— especially with half price bottles of wine on Mondays, but I don’t think I’ll be going back. Our party of six was greeted by the hostess without any enthusiasm and despite only 4 other parties in the restaurant, we were seated in the bar area where we asked twice to no avail to have the music turned down. Our waitress was low on energy though pleasant. Wine values are good on Monday nights as are raw oysters at a dollar each. I guess during happy hour though you don’t get the normal presentation because we did not get cocktail forks, crackers, lemon or horseradish end it took a lot of work and several trips to get all of that.
All six of us ended up ordering the same item-grilled redfish. Mine was delicious, but one of our group ordered hers gluten and dairy free, and it arrived burnt and crispy with burnt brussels sprouts to go with it. We sent it back and they brought an order that looked and tasted much better, but we had to request that they comp her entree even though the five of us were about finished when her replacement entree arrived. As we left, the manager was at the hostess stand and barely said anything to us as we left. There are too many places in the Dallas-Plano area with good food that have equally good service. Don’t think I’ll be back.
This was a great restaurant. My Idaho Red Trout and balsamic sprouts were fantastic.
Very good seafood in a casual environment. The service was good, food was very good and ambience was so-so. Not for a fancy night out to dinner.
Food and service was outstanding as usual. Best crab cakes on the planet.
Food was fabulous! Service was great!
Exceptionally good food. Salmon was delicious. Even the bread was wonderful
The restaurant in the East Legacy complex had excellent service, very good food and was very clean. The options on the food menu were quite good with us sampling the Calamari, Caesar and house salads and the Red Fish main entree. All in all a great dining experience...
Mixed feelings about the restaurant. The food was very good, with the seafood selections being somewhat limited but all very fresh. We had a late afternoon (5:30) reservation for which we were on time. At the time of our arrival, only four or five other tables were occupied, with possibly eight being occupied when we left. The restaurant was far from busy throughout our visit. After being seated, we informed our waitress that we were not in any hurry. We ordered iced tea while we looked at the menu, and the waitress gave us her suggestions. She returned minutes later for our order, and we told her that we would start with the scallops as an appetizer. She asked if we were ready to order our meal, and we replied that we would do so after the scallops were served. Our appetizer order was served within munutes, and we gave our dinner order. Within five minutes of placement, our orders of trout and tuna were served. We agree that the food was very good, but our total time in the restaurant from seating to paying the check was under forty-five minutes. We weren't looking for a 'fast food' restaurant, and were totally turned off by the speed at which the staff seemed to want to rid themselves of us. We enoy dining and good food, but we also enjoy making a good restaurant visit an unhurried event. We will try one more time in the future, but if the results are the same, we have many other restaurants that allow us to sit and enjoy our meal and the dining experience.
Overall the food and ambience were excellent. Our waitress was very attentive. We are looking forward to a return visit.
The food was ok. At first they were going to put us in a corner table next to a large party(-20 with kids) even though they weren’t that busy. We moved to another table on the other side of the restaurant.
Once seated the waiter was good. I liked the concept of the menus being electronic so you could click on each food item to see more info and a picture.
I was disappointed because my food did not look like the picture when it arrived. The Muscles were very good. The calamari was not as special as I was hoping. The Brussels sprouts were very nice.
My two friends were ok with their food but said it was nothing special. They had the major magi and the lobster penne pasta.
When I made the reservations I indicated we were their for a birthday. Nothing was ever mentioned and so we left after not ordering one of their two options on the menu.
In all, it was ok. Not sure I would come back just because it probably would be worth the drive.
Calamari was VERY disappointing but everything else was delicious. Music definitely needs to change, it caused anxiety during our meal. Excellent server, thanks Chris!
Spectacular and fresh food! Highly recommend. The blackened red fish on the dinner menu was the highlight of my night.
Third visit and on a Saturday night. We really like The Keeper - the muscles and clam chowder were out standing. I did not like the greens in the small salad but others may. The key lime dessert was wonderful. The lobster penne was very good - could have used a few pieces of size of the lobster. The only disappointment was the fish and chips. This dish was served warm as if it had been sitting awhile. The batter was lack luster - not like a beer batter should be. The fish was chewy rather than flakey. The french fries were not as good as at other places serving french fries. BUT, this was the only disappointment in three visits and yes, we will come again.
Not up to usual standards... had the lobster penne... way way too much pesto, not a lot of lobster...couldn't even finish it as a leftover at home. ordered two appetizers...came 15 min apart.
seems like the menu changes are being over thought and over done...might have to find another seafood restaurant for a while
Food was very good and patio was pleasantly quiet and codusive to conversation
Birthday. Great for right
We enjoyed our cioppino and the whole branzino was outstanding. Delicious salads rounded out the meal. The key lime pie was one of the best we ever had! We’ll be back!
One of our favorite restaurants in the area.
My husband had date night. He was dying for a whole fried fish! The food was EXCELLENT and the service was awesome. We will definitely be back! We started with the scallops a MUST have! I had the Salmon and added a side of lobster mac n cheese!
Very nice spot for FRESH seafood, something challenging to find in North Texas. Wait staff was personable, knowledgeable and helpful. Fish dishes are varied with a good selection of fresh options. I had the lobster pasta and it did not disappoint. Great wine selection with some moderately priced bottles. We sat outside as the table offered inside seemed a tad out of the way but the outside dining was very pleasant. I will go back.
My salmon was more seared than grilled. I only ate half.
The music was so loud we asked to have it turned down.
Service was good.
We were there during happy joint and were seated by the bar. It was loud. The food was great and we would definitely go back and sit away from the bar area.
Went for the Happy Hour and had all of our favorite starters and cocktails. We are always pleased with our visits to The Keeper.
Great location, great food and great service!!
The food and atmosphere are nice, but it is way overpriced. With tip, $300 for 4 people. It's not that good.
The service was excellent
Annie our server was really the best! She was prompt and very helpful since this was our first time here
We had the crap shrimp and avocado appetizer SO good
I had the red fish which is one of the best seafood dishes I have had in a long time
My husband had the mahi which I tasted it was very good
I will definitely put this on my go to list in the future
Excellent meals, Happy Hour pricing on apps & drinks weeknights.
Probably our 15th Time to The Keeper. We always come a little later to get away from the crowds. Good service. However, the bar was very skimpy on size of the pours of wine and our cocktails. Had to wait over 45 min for our dinner after ordering early. Was a disappointment and no attempt on service recovery. Need some training.
Thank you for your valuable feedback, and please accept my apology for your disappointing experience. As you are aware from previous visits, we at The Keeper strive for excellent food and service, and I apologize that we were not able to deliver this for you this visit. I am sending you a private message as well, in hopes of obtaining more details, and having you back as my guest. Best Regards, Ashley Wilkerson Managing Partner
We didn’t care for the abrasive demeanor of the hostess. The bartender poured us an extremely small old fashioned and didn’t offer to correct it. The server at our table was great and the food was tasty. Overall, decent experience.
Love The Keeper, have been several time. Food and service are second to none but the music was way too loud.
The food was really good - the clam chowder was excellent. The service was GREAT! As is typical around here, things tend to be over-priced as well. And the music was odd I felt for that type of restaurant...
We enjoyed a relaxing Anniversary dinner with some excellent fish dishes
Good if you have a hankering for fish and are in the area.
Bizarre layout and chaotic service. Surprisingly difficult to get wait staff’s attention to order in spite of over 5 people serving the table at various times.
The food was good. But nothing that special. The clam chowder was good but lacking something. Was just a tad expensive for what we got. I will go back but can't say this is one of the better restaurants I've been to in this area.
The food and service was very good! The happy hour deals are great. We had the Seafood Campechanna which was incredible.
The food and the service at The Keeper were great. The menu selection was broad with many seafood options. I chose the redfish on the recommendation of the server and it did not disappoint. I was a bit skeptical when the entrees came out so quickly, that usually results in disappointment in the quality but not the case at The Keeper. The food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Great menu. Delicious food. A little loud, but so is most every restaurant, that’s why I go later in the evening. It quieted down as it got later.
Good spot for lunch and dinner. Good spirit and wine selection
If you like salty fish this is the place for you...
It was great.
