The Joker and Thief Terrigal

While the name is a homage to Bob Dylan, our interior is Mad Men meets INXS – Mid Century Modern with a nod to Art Deco and a luxe Rock n Roll edge. Dusty pink walls with timber panelling contrast deep hues, velvet upholstery, brass details and marble tabletops. The Joker and Thief is pure escapism. Once you reach the top of the staircase, you will enter a world of unpretentious decadence.
Located on a prominent beachside strip, Balmy ocean breezes come through the windows as cocktails flow. Our venue transforms from a bright and airy lunch spot to a moody, plush night-time restaurant bar.

Nice atmosphere and menu. The entrance has a lot of stairs which my 80 year old mother struggled up, only to find there was a lift she could have used. Neither staff member at the door, where we checked in, let us know. Anyway, besides that, the evening was great.

Great place for a delicious meal with views of the beach. Our table was by the window. We had a great breeze blowing in as we enjoyed the food, the view of the beach and watched the people go by. Staff were genuine, friendly and helpful. Food is fresh, beautifully presented and servings were generous. They didn't skimp on the alcohol either in my whiskey sour. It was a good one :-)

Very noisy. One of us chose the tuna but was not told it was raw as I had asked about it’s description by the waitress. Had to send it back before eating and choose another dish.
The food was great but the meals are quite small.
Chef preordered m prepared a meal that met my dietary needs and I was really appreciative.
The ricotta gnocchi was sensational. And the cocktails delicious.

The only complaints I have is that we booked for low table as we all just have had babies and bad backs and we were put on a high table.
Also it was pretty loud. Other then that we have the best time and the food was amazing!
We sat at our table for 25-30 minutes before being served. As we sat down they asked for our drink order which we haven’t even had time to decide then got completely forgotten about. We were considering just leaving and going somewhere else. They might need more staff during the silly season.

Although the covid restrictions are reassuringly abided by at Joker, there is in no way enough staff for the table service! It was very difficult to get attention and place orders.

Great place for a drink and dinner. Went as part of a couple, and shared starters and cocktails. The staff were absolutely excellent, and the food and drinks were delicious. Best place in Terrigal for a drink.
