Despite making a reservation there weren’t enough tables with overhead shelter so we were asked if we wanted to sit in the rain for our meal. I tried to find out before arriving if the tables were under cover but there was no information on the website and I assumed that the restaurant would let us know if they couldn’t offer dry tables on a rainy day - but they didn’t. We stayed and eventually moved to a table under cover (a gazebo in the car park). The food was mediocre - I had fish and chips, the fish was greasy and the chips were hard and dried out. Overall a really disappointing experience.

Fabulous fish and chips (as always, including gluten free option) plus great service from Shaun. A warm welcome, covid compliant, feels nearly back to normal.

Food is fantastic and the staff go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble. We were served quickly with drinks and the food didn’t take too long after ordering and it was worth the wait. I would highly recommend the seafood crumble and my daughters thought the pasta was the best they’d had. We will be back as soon as we can.

Ws booked care of the app and eventually a table became free. This pub was fantastiv for a long time but lost its way and became mediocre with high prices. However it is back to its best as food was excellent. Some staff could be a bit more smiley.

Very accommodating we were able to choose our table 6 people and 4 dogs to juggle! Food outstanding - I had the North Shields Fish Crumble which was excellent. Most of the party had Northumbrian roast beef Sunday lunch pink and it was. Again excellent. A nice touch at Joiners has always been the extra gravy with the Sunday lunch. Superb family lunch.

Amazing food and outdoor space, staff were so lovely!

Only thing I’d point out is there is no vegan desert option, all main vegan options are amazing so a desert would be great on the menu!

It was wonderful to be back at The Joiners Arms albeit at an outside table. There were plenty of staff making the service quick but unhurried. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was great and the drinks chilled to perfection. Thank you.

Outside service only so quite difficult for the pub. Food piping hot which I was grateful for, it being a chilly day, but the fish in sauce dish I chose had only one small chunk of salmon and a few flakes of fish in a very watery, tasteless sauce ...more of a thin potato soup really. Will not go again. Husband had the fish and chips which he enjoyed. Overall we’d have been better off staying home with an M&S meal deal snd saved a few quid too.

We had an amazing meal there, the sunday dinner is second to none. There was a slight hick up , but that was a kitchen tethering problem. Huge thanks to Megan for looking after us. Look forward to going back this Saturday again. Table is already booked

Great food overall, they forgot my meal but didn’t take long and was worth the wait. Steak and chips was heavenly and hubby loved his burger. Only gripe was the kids meal , I think they need to work on their offering , the garlic bread strips were sent back as dry and chewy, the replacement crudités were a poor offering also ,so would prob not go back with kids.

my first return to a pub in some time and outside dining given the current restrictions were all coped with and adhered to very well by all of the staff which made for an enjoyable experience. Fortunately the sun made an appearance which no doubt helped but the food was good I had the vegan fish and chips with banana blossom replacing the fish which was my first time trying it but it was good batter was very light and crisp, the curry sauce, tartare sauce and mushy peas all good too. My partner had the fish goujon sandwich which was also excellent. The pinot grigio was also well chilled which is always welcome on a sunny day. Overall I'll be very happy to go again and looking forward to working through some of the other options.

Staff generally very good but unfortunately let them down. The steak - which at £17 should be very good - was poor. Fish and chips was tasteless and the Asian salad was just awful.
On a positive the drinks were good especially the Blonde Bitter!
Quite expensive for a family of 2 adults, 3 children and an infant came to £110 with no starters or desserts especially when the only alcohol was my two pints.
Wish I could be more positive as I love going there but it was poor. Sorry.
