The Ivy Harrogate
The Ivy Harrogate is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and family, entertain clients or just simply relax.
This is the 5th Ivy location I have dined in and the first I have been disappointed with my experience. Service was excellent as always but the food was mediocre, dry chicken, sweet potato sides were cold. Was very surprised by how poor the experience was.
Shepherd's Pie only lukewarm - should have mentioned it at the time but far more concerning was the ridiculously low level of lighting. Gent at the next table had to use the torch on his phone to read the menu. We were told the low lighting was 'Head Office policy'.
Credit to the manager for overriding what is obviously a stupid policy.
I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with my wife. The service was excellent, we will definitely be returning the next time we are in Harrogate, we are looking forward to trying the lunch or dinner menu.
Always an excellent welcome. Perfect ambiance and food.
Unfortunately our experience wasn't as special as a previous visit as service was slow and the waitress knocked over our bottle of wine at the table. I received a free dessert as an apology but we were not offered for the spilt wine to be replaced. It also it took over 30 minutes to be seated even though we'd reserved a table and there was a long delay between courses. The restaurant was very noisy which I appreciate it will be at busy times and can add to the atmosphere but unfortunately it made it difficult for my hearing impaired sister in law to make conversation at times. We did however enjoy the food which was well presented and tasty, and I did like the ambience in general.
I enjoyed it but didn't like the mozarella starter I has as it was more like cottage cheese and also didn"t feel the cocktail I had was that special - the ivy royale. All felt quite rushed.
The last time we went to the Ivy was about 10 years ago in the first Ivy in London. The Harrogate Ivy gave us just as much pleasure as that visit in London all those years ago. I am sure we will be back. The staff could not have been better.
Wonderful ambience, friendly staff, delicious food
Great food service and staff - attentive all the time
Our food, when it finally arrived was good though the main course only lukewarm. Our first course was promptly served but of course was cold and so expected. Unfortunately we waited almost an hour until we complained about still waiting for our main. This was then brought forthwith and I am guessing was sitting somewhere getting cold. We were under a slight time constraint by this time as my daughter had to collect her son from school. We therefore did not complain at the time and also paid the enforced service charge which was not deserved!
Excellent food, excellent service, lovely restaurant, all good.
Hello we had a nice evening yet again at the Ivy and is one of our choices when we visit Harrogate staff were all friendly and professional will visit
Brilliant food , as usual . Sat outside in the sun , impeccable service .
The restaurant is a fab place to have a lovely meal, the staff are helpful & accommodating & we’ll definitely be back
I went for a birthday treat with my husband while staying in Harrogate, viewed the menu online. Tried to book a table but the only availability was very early or very late. We wanted to eat around 7 pm. It was a last minute booking but I tried again later in the afternoon and managed to get a cancelled spot at 7pm. So pleased we did as it was amazing. The decor is beautiful, especially the outdoor terrace. With the canopy roof and heaters, we could have easily dined outside. The food was lovely, really fresh and very tasty. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. I also received a little birthday treat with a candle which was a lovely surprise.
Excellent food and service - a really great experience.
Overall it was a lovely meal but we had some issue with the service. Our booking was for 8pm, we arrived at 7.45pm so we were asked if we would like a drink before going to the table. We did, but it took 10 minutes before our order was taken. Just after 8pm we were asked if we would like to go to the table or look at the menu in the bar, we chose the latter. The host then returned after a minute or so and politely asked if we would mind going to the table as they couldn't hold it for too long as there was a sitting after us. Fine, we went to the table, around 8.10pm. Our order was taken at 8.40pm - 30 minutes after being told they would need the table. Food came quick and servers were polite, but just very slow. Also slow at taking dessert order (which we passed on), but very quick on giving us the bill with the service charge included!!! It was lovely food but just a shame about the slow service. There was also no one waiting for our table when we left at 10.30pm.....
Your two gin and tonics costing£20.00,whilst your decor is like London please dont bring that nonsense to Harrogate, you can buy two whole bolles for £20.00
We had a wonderful time and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious!
The drinks were wrong and then the server argued that they were in fact correct. The starters were incomplete and then a different server was sent with a message from the manager that was untrue, incorrect and absurd. I have taken. Screenshot of the menu to prove it!
The second drink took so long to arrive that we had finished the main course.
The manager did not have the gravitas to come and speak to us despite the fact that the meal had been a disaster.
A complete shambles, I have complained directly but still no response from the Harrogate Ivy.
What a disaster and poor management.
Wonderful, indulgent breakfast. Great service and the birthday treat was a lovely touch.
Has a brilliant evening with three friends but the experience was marred by the length of time it took to get pre-dinner cocktails - 30 mins - it turned out that they had a new person mixing the cocktails and he was doing this alone - when they finally came they were beautiful and the rest of the service was top class - it helped a lot that when the final bill came, we were not charged for the cocktails - I would highly recommend
Service appallingly slow and coffee undrinkable - strong and stewed
Initial impression spoilt by artificial flowers at entrance also being greeted at desk in quite dark dismal entrance, not sure what you are walking into.
I do feel that service charge should be at your at your own discretion. Food and service as expected.
Good value 3 course set menu in lovely surroundings. Not very busy at lunch time. Attentive but not fussy staff.
Poor service and average food. Been there before and had better but this time not so good.
Great for an early morning business meal. Dinned not so long ago and just as good for meetings. The Manager Mark even recognised us from our previous visit and got us some pastries. Becoming a regular spot for all my needs please maintain the high standards and I shall keep visiting
We arrived and mentioned to the young girl at the door that it was our Anniversary.. From that moment the staff were all soo attentive and every person that came to our table wished us Happy Anniversary. We even got a complimentary glass of bubbly. The food was amazing and served really well and not rushed at all. We felt special and loved the atmosphere of The Ivy.
The staff were of the utmost Professional and service was top notch as was the food.
We will never forget our experience at the Ivy and would recommend to friends and family.
Thank you for our evening on 1st September 46 years of marriage x
Took my parents for a birthday treat!
From stepping into the foyer it was a fabulous experience! The welcome was warm and friendly, our table was perfect- and we even had an option table! Louis was our waiter- he was fabulous. Took time to chat to my parents, was knowledgeable and professional.
Scott served our wine and he was also excellent! Nice and chatty and came to our table to say goodbye before he went off shift. All in all an amazing experience- they dimmed the light when it got dark and the ambience was just fabulous!
And the food!!!! The shepherds pie!!! We’ll def be back!
Beautiful decor. Staff perfect. Food gorgeous. Definitely will be back
Loved the whole evening. Service was amazing, food perfect, cocktails 👌
Will definitely return.
Fabulous place, very attentive and professional staff and excellent food
Everything was good - would have expected some signature dishes on the menu just so we could have had wow factor food
Most enjoyable brunch with friends fantastic staff and delicious food
Great service. Expensive but worth it for a treat. Food was beautifully cooked.
As somewhere special, beautiful surroundings, great choice menu, excellent food, friendly staff, looking forward to our next visit to Harrogate and visiting the Ivy. RC.
Fantastic place, great service and food. We had an afternoon tea.
Have always loved visiting the Ivy Harrogate but my last visit was disappointing! The food wasn’t it’s usual standard and it 5 goes to get the order for three coffees right! In all the visit was under whelming!
Enjoyed most things and will come again. The chicken was a bit dry
Tables at the front of the restaurant are too close together. It feel like you you are so close you could join your neighbours conversation
